Wrath Of The Violent Vicar - Interactive Film

A short interactive horror movie about religion - You are in charge of a murderous priest that kills people with his bible. Absolutely hilarious, and I loved the awesome soundtrack of this game.

The theme of religion has been flagging up for me as of late and I sure hope it’s not a sign from above… The only other similarly themed horror game that I’ve reviewed was Lucius but that was about inflicting pain being inspired by the Omen films. It would be fine, had it not Intersect with another sub-genre I had NO prior experience at all (ZILCH)- FMV games! Hold for shock… I have come across many on Steam, but not once did I see the appeal behind them- if I wanted to watch something…you know where I’m going with this!?

The Daunting House

The Daunting House

This game has potential although in it’s current state it is simply too buggy, nonsensical and tedious to recommend.

What you have here is a horror game with some very questionable voice acting, puzzles ranging from semi-interesting to flat out tedious (a match 2 mini game, really?) and FPS mechanics that feel incredibly shoe horned in.

The game is also incredibly buggy and I had to restart several times as doors would refuse to open or key items would disappear because the physics would glitch out.

I am playing this in India, We don’t have video games like these made in here specially in Hindi, so would recommend it to people who are looking for the Indian flavour in Video games as its a complete pack of Puzzles and adventure showcasing a story.

I really like the story line where this guy is looking to save his partner in the game and he goes through a lot of things, be it puzzles which are just great and timely and evenly distributed killer creatures, the team has managed to pull of a very nice play in this one. I played it on the day of release i found a few glitches which were fixed with the update they pushed..

Blood Spear

Blood Spear

No game in the steam catalog can compare to Blood Spear. Having thousands of hours in other steam games, i have decided that this game reigns superior above all. No one should pass up playing this game. A Breathtaking experience, honestly, the convoluted story at the beginning begins to piece itself together as you play. The game play flows well and with non linear areas, you can play the game the way you want to play it. The music is phenomenal, and is comparable to soundtracks of other great triple A games. The idea of a ranged combat is so fresh and different in a convoluted genre of sword hack and slash games. This game CANNOT be compared to the souls games, they are the yin and yang of souls likes. Dark souls being bleak, cold, dark, and repetitive, while Blood Spear is fast pased, high octane, intuitive, as these new ideas are added to the legacy of these games. I hope that this inspires other great Spear-Like games and is a genre i will be keeping up with for years to come.

When a game is soo good that being free seems wrong

  • Third-person Hack and slash

  • Short

  • Great atmosphere

  • Inventive combat mechanics

  • Easy to learn, room for skilled-play

So, if you are still here… Let’s get down to it:

@Chris:

Nobody said it was easy, it’s such a shame for us to part…

Blood Spear is often called a student project… hence why it is so short and free, but make no mistake, winning first prize at ISART Digital Montreal 2021 is no small feat, and calling this a student project is a grave understatement. Picking obvious queues from the likes of Dark Souls, Soul Reaver and more, you get a third-person hack and slash campaign that won’t overstay its welcome, with an easy to learn throwing mechanic (charge and quick-fire) backed up with two inventive skills that add strategy and healing abilities, this compact package leaves you wanting more.

I have never been railroaded so fucking hard while also having to backtrack 90% of the game. It felt like the whole game was waiting in line at the dmv. There are about 5 main rooms you are going to be walking back and forth through and let me break down how these rooms work. And remember this game is 30$

Each of the rooms will have 6-7 exits only 1 of which will be open to you, the rest will be either locked doors or have invisible walls blocking your path. You proceed through the only exit that allows you to leave and perform a mundane task such as grabbing a med kit or checking to see if an elevator has power (spoiler it doesn’t.). Afterwards you travel back to the first room and proceed through another exit. Another stupid check, another new exit. The whole game is walking back and forth among a few rooms and every once in awhile you have to fight a zombie which is beyond fucking buggy.

A.D.M (Angels,Demons And Men)

I posted this review together with 18 images HERE .

Introduction

When I wrote this review I’d spent approximately 4 to 5 hours playing the game, but due to the level design and movement issues (IMO), I found it difficult to progress. It may be that you don’t have the same issue as me. I failed to even complete the first few objectives, which are necessary to progress, i.e. collect a key and pull a lever. I eventually found the key, then spent the next four + hours repeatedly dying and still haven’t found the lever. On replaying it almost two years later, I’ve still not been able to get as far as the lever despite now having spent over 13 hours in bite sized bits playing. I do think there are some issues that need work e.g. increasing the view area and movement speeds. For now it’s just too difficult for my slow reaction times to progress further.

ARCH STONE vs The Zombie Specters is another Archor Games classic. You play as ARCH STONE, a tactical blue sweater enthusiast, out to save the world from a virus outbreak. Equipped with an array of powerful weapons, strong knee attacks, intense vehicles, and the all important blowmo button (press ‘b’ for blow motion), you will wade through mercs and specters to get to the end of levels.

I enjoyed my time with this game and am always looking forward to see what the developer is working on next (they have been cotninually upping their game and its great to experience).

Jagged Alliance: Rage!

Jagged Alliance: Rage!

Хорошо! Я буду работать на тебя, проклятый капиталист!

Fine! I will be working for you, you bloody capitalist!

~Ivan Dolvich

Jagged Alliance is a unique franchise. With the first two games being incredibly good and majority of the games that came afterwards being incredibly bad, nowadays, the Jagged Alliance name has a weird effect on people. If you’ll call your game “Jagged Alliance”, it’ll mean two things. First, the people would buy it. Because the original games were that good. Second, the people would bh about it. Because, obviously, the Jagged Alliance games would never be the same. For many reasons. Even Firaxis Games' XCOM is not the same with the one from Mythos Games. Sure, the last two Jagged Alliance games are not Firaxis Games' XCOM. Not even close. But I don’t think they’re that bad. I mean, sure, both Russians and Germans fd things up with their Jagged Alliance: Back in Action and Hired Guns. But they’re Russians and Germans! That’s how they make games! Now, with Jagged Alliance: Flashback and Jagged Alliance: Rage! it’s a different story.

From a Co-op perspective alone:

  • First, I’m not at all comparing it with older Jagged Alliance, I haven’t played those. But I’ve played a lot of turn-based games. My buddy and I have been playing the latest version in Aug 2020.

  • You can play complete campaign co-op with a buddy. So Yay!

  • The gameplay is fun and keeps one engaged and always nice to co-ordinate attacks with a buddy or figure out ways to kill the enemy in diff ways

  • Good balance in AP spending and tactical

  • Good maps balance

  • The Rage name is an actual element in the game where you get Rage points which are useful
