Freerunners

Freerunners

Freerunners is a game about giving the feeling of freerunning (Parkour). Finding a flow and an underlying rhythm of movement as you traverse through your environment in the quickest time possible.

Start off a total noob and become a skilled pro, learning new moves along the way. Vault, climb, jump, duck, swing, flip, slide, do what it takes to travel as fast as possible whilst using your environment to outwit the enemy henchmen who have kidnapped your freerunning teacher and are hunting you down.

Be Fast, Be Fluid, Be Direct!

Key Features:

  • 50 Fast-paced Levels - Think quick and solve problems on the move in fast-paced action-packed levels.

  • Use Your Environment - Outwit evil henchmen using the environment and your freerunning skills.

  • Fail, Retry, Refine - You’re going to fail a bunch as you find your flow but refine your timing and technique and watch as you improve and flow more seamlessly through your environment.

  • Learn New Freerunning Moves - Progressing from a total noob to a freerunning badass. No better way to learn than by jumping in the deep end… and by deep end I mean being hunted by the henchmen of an evil organisation.

  • Look The Part, Unlock New Outfits - Gotta look the part. You can wear good running shoes or flip-flops if you are feeling adventurous.

  • Speedrunner-friendly - Be fast, be fluid, be direct and complete levels in the fastest time possible, well suited to speedrunning.

  • Full Controller Support - Can be played with a keyboard/mouse but has also been designed with full controller support.

Furfly

Furfly

I like the aesthetic, but Furfly otherwise commits an unfortunate number of mistakes.

The main issues here tie in with Furfly’s rather strict time limits. While levels having strict time limits is not a bad thing in and of itself, the game doesn’t properly take this into account. Most notably, the positions of moving hazards are not reset upon death. As hazard positions don’t reset, it’s far too easy to run into a situation where you sail past a hazard on one attempt and on the next attempt you waste precious seconds waiting for that same hazard to move out of the way, which in turn causes you to run out of time before reaching the goal.

The art of this game is what grabbed me at first. Ported from the mobile platform? I don’t really notice it; well-designed and well-developed, although some improvements can be made: as soon as you die, the furfly (or maybe Black Lum ) respawns correctly, but boxes, rocks, saws etc. don’t get their initial position most of the time, which makes it easier, but sometimes difficultier; taking into account the time pressure, it’s annoying sometimes.

One of the last relics of a time when even mainstream AAA games tried new things and could be unique and it more than paid off.

Duke Dashington Remastered

Duke Dashington Remastered

TL;DR: It’s an easy to beat, hard to master puzzle platformer that looks really good, strong recommended.

Not gonna lie, at first I was slightly disappointed since I expected something more along the lines of the Wario Land games, but that shifted quickly after beating the first few rooms.

The duke is rather clumsy and triggers every security measure in his path, so you have to dash through the rooms before they collapse, avoiding all sorts of deadly traps and other kind of roadblocks to grab that sweet treasure. New obstacles get introduced every few rooms, so there is always something new to learn mechanics-wise. The levels are pretty balanced overall; while there are a handful of rooms that are rather tight timing-wise (especially one or two rooms in world 4), the vast majority has a fair difficulty. The controls are simple, jump and dash, and my controller got recognized without issue. Beating it is rather easy and can be done in an hour or so, but getting all the achievements is quite challenging. Those who like to grind for better times can sink their teeth into the time-trial modes.

Short and sweet. Be aware that there’s not much content (5, approximately 3 minute worlds), but there is some replayability in going for a challenge run of 0 deaths or for speedrunning if you’re into that.

Other than that, it’s a fun short play for a rainy day.

This game is awesome. I can’t remember the game i was able to enjoy so much, playing with my buddies after a hard workday. The gameplay is super simple, enjoyable and relaxing, levels are very well made. Recommend everybody just to give it a try)))

An entertaining and interesting game to relax your brains and train them a little. A bunch of interesting levels will not let you get bored. If you work in an office and are tired of playing classic games (Solitaire, Minesweeper) then this game will suit you. My rating is 10/10.

Gos Castle Runner

Gos Castle Runner

I went in with an optimistic mindset, and man was it dashed into pieces. This feels like the kind of game you might download on your phone while you’re waiting for the toast in your toaster to reach the right amount of burn. It’s a runner game, through relatively short levels filled with obstacles.

You’re a ghost, so timing your jumps is a bit problematic as it’s a little frustrating determining exactly what portion of your body is going to be the best jumping off point. Avoid obstacles, such as spikes, because they’ll either kill you or slow you down depending on how many lives you have. Extra lives can be picked up in levels, and you’ll start over with a handful of lives after you extinguish what you had.

Super Dangerous Dungeons

Super Dangerous Dungeons

Before considering buying this game, make sure you read a lot of reviews!

My review is short and simple:

The game itself is very nice looking with a lot of concepts, based around the game. The difficulty isn’t that bad at all!

It’s a very short game, also nice to gain achievements!

Pros:

1. Very cool level design on every stage

2. The game doesn’t get boring

3. Controls aren’t that hard to use

4. Easy Achievements

Cons:

1. The game in my opinion is a little on the short side, would’ve been nice to add another “world”

Story

There’s a tiny bit of story about the main character traveling to a dungeon in search of riches.

Gameplay

The main gameplay is based around being a platformer with specific timing of jumps, controlling the strength of each jump, and understanding how to reach the end of each stage. As you progress further into the game the stages will become more elaborate and tricky.

Difficulty

The difficulty of the game falls upon timing jumps, learning the maps, when to move, and controlling the strength of your jumps. Basic things for a platformer.

RAZED

RAZED

Damn this game is good.

Razed is a beautiful game about speed and momentum.

There ist 100% no break button. Plan your jumps, time your jumps and stick the landing - keep your momentum - Jump again. The more you play, the more you develope a sense of flow and every route you take through the levels just washes you through like a jet stream.

Can’t remember having such a blast with a game for a long time.

The game starts a little bit too slow for my pace, but that way it offers a learning curve even for beginners.

Real player with 32.3 hrs in game

RAZED is a fun, but slightly flawed, parkour speedrunner.

You race through 66 short obstacle courses, unlocking new abilities (such as jumping and wall-running) which can be upgraded as you progress. Running slowly (or stopping) and using abilities will drain your energy meter, while going fast and picking up gems will refill it. When your energy meter reaches 0, you explode.

I see some of the other reviews mentioning limited jumping as minus, but to me it’s a plus, as it means you have to plan out your route if you want to reach the goal, And spoiler:

! Once you unlock the final upgrade, you can jump and use abilities as much as you want.
