Many different encounters ensure that you get your daily dose of fast paced real time combat. Manage your energy, shoot projectiles, shockwaves, dodge projectiles and use energy shields to protect you from harm. Defend your self with a energy staff or other melee weapons.

Space Captain McCallery - Episode 1: Crash Landing

Space Captain McCallery - Episode 1: Crash Landing

Lovely sci-fi short story with fun and weird low-poly-art (if pixel-art can be a genre…), simple shooting, platforming and exploration. The best idea of the game is to take the collectathon pickups and make them not only useful but strategic: fruits and mushrooms heal, provide energy for movement and charge the weapon. Also some cause hallucinations, which makes the already kinda trippy game even better looking. Enemies are basic but not boring goofy/creepy aliens, nicely mixed with enviromental challanges (mostly falling). I enjoyed the ideas and the atmosphere and appreciate the dev fixing some minor bugs and even implementing suggestions only hours after I mentioned them. Waiting for the next game.

I’m not sure whether it’s the semi-linear storyline, the third-person player view, or the eating mechanic, but something with this game just doesn’t sit right. Where And All Would Cry Beware! was one of my favourite games, the Space Captain McCallery franchise just seems like it’s missing something. Sure, it captures the surreal look and amazing soundtrack presented in so many other Renegade Sector games, but I just don’t see myself coming back to this one.

Whilst all of this is true, I don’t think it’s a necessarily bad game, and so I can’t in good conscience give it a negative review.

Sin-Cay

Sin-Cay

This game seems like something straight out of a course or class on Unreal Engine. The menu reminds me of a retro X-com game and the blank white starting screen in the beginning made me think the game was broken. There are too many complaints I have about this game that I cannot recommend it in its current state.

Starting out, you are just dropped into a dark cave with terrible lighting issues. So avoid if you have aversions to blinking lights. Any enemies that aggro on you growl a terribly leveled voice that’s overpowering all other noises despite distancing. They take nothing to kill and even the over-sized replicas of the same enemies take minimal bullets. The bullets are infinite. You can heal yourself infinitely and hurt yourself… why? Only useful in the event of getting stuck? Depending on where you lookin the first level, the game tries to use some kind of realistic lighting but it’s not well implemented and everything goes invisibly dark. After beating the first level, you are dropped into another place with no context and you and your character have no idea who you are or what you are doing or the direction you should go. It’s a project (as seen in task manager as the file name) vastly needing improvement, clearer direction and purpose. The only puzzle I solved was shooting some explosive barrels. It could be fun with the diversity of locations and portals to new areas, but there needs to be more direction, world building, and context. It just feels like you tried new meshes and textures in each specific setting. Maxed out my 3070 on epic settings unnecessarily. The settings menu is limited, you can’t even control audio. Nah.

ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos

ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos

A warning, this is a Visual Novel, not an Action Game.

For players wishing to learn how to find the different branches, there seems to be, in general 4 Heroine Endings, each with Good and Bad, and after each ending, the start screen will display a silhouette of the “heroine”’s ending you unlocked. The first 2 times you play the game, you will unlock “extras” in the next playthrough, so Ending Meteora will be the first, after that, you will be capable of unlocking the second branch for Endings Noa and Anima, and after any of them, you unlock the ability to open the final branch, to the Coco Ending (Final).

This is the best VR game I’ve played so far this year and the #1 VR VN I’ve played to date by a long shot!

The first ending is around 3 hours in but it’s more like a prelude. The full game has about 15 hours of content to get all the endings and each branch adds huge swaths of story and character development so you really feel compelled to play through them all. There are also a couple music videos built into the story that you can go back and revisit any time which gives you some reason to boot up the game every now and then even after 100% completing it. Music videos in VR are awesome!

Cognition Method: Initiation

Cognition Method: Initiation

Cognition Method: Initiation is a game similar in nature to other cube-based puzzle games, so if you enjoy them, you will feel right at home here.

The premise of the game is that you are an astronaut investigating a cube-shaped object in space that is being overrun by an infestation of some kind, all the while searching for and being guided by your father, whom was lost in a prior expedition but managed to make contact again as you entered the object. He instructs you to solve puzzles and venture deeper into the facility. Make of that what you will.

Cognition Methot: Initiation is a demo of a story-driven puzzle game that will come out some time in 2022.

As of right now, you will get no more than 1 hour of gameplay with puzzles that will introduce the core mechanic of altering gravity. This isn’t a negative element since it raises that complex and interesting challenges can be made in its final launch.

The strongest part of the demo is the art direction, not for having hyper-realistic graphics, but for using the light in an inteligent way, having simplistic environments that combine elements of art déco with the style of Escher in contrast with organic shapes.

  1. Doesn’t work on index at all.

  2. Gun keeps magically disappearing int he middle of a gun fight with vive wands, leaving me shooting with my fingers.

Altogether too janky.

Sharks of Mars is a great game i recommand

the graphism are great , the laser gun design is wonderfull and the idea to have to combine with clip behind the weapon is really awesome

every clip can enable different effects like for exemple a sniper mode without the need to close one eye so our eyes ( i appreciate a lot this )

and can fire another type laser beam or another has an effect of explosion

of course we would like more clips and color clip and type of beam but it is planned for the future

The Falconeer

The Falconeer

Alright, here’s the dealio, I saw this game before it was released and was instantly enamored by open world flying and dog fighting mechanics (something I’ve dabbled in before and liked). I followed it very closely until it released and bought it almost immediately when it was available. At first I used a controller to play the game, unsure if keyboard and mouse worked (my preferred method), it was a bit wonky and the controls took some time to get used to. While the game says its not keyboard and mouse supported I play it keyboard and mouse anyway, my fingers are not suited for basic controller controls so when it can be keyboard and mouse that is my go to any and every time regardless if its made for it or not. Using my preferred control system does increase my enjoy-ability to play the game (because duh I can actually PLAY the game this way).

Above the clouds, freedom must be boundless… or not, as The Falconeer shows us. Our falcon makes it only just above the clouds. Most of the time we fly either very close to the ground or at cloud height, but not much higher. That makes sense, because it’s damn cold up there and the oxygen is a bit scarce.
