Time Tenshi
After I finished playing the New Time Tenshi, I have to say that this game really catches me off guard. This game is interesting and unique. Not to say I don’t have some ups and downs in this game, but this game really sends me on a wild ride through my time playing it. I’m already coming up with theories or what if ideas that might happen. To start off, I would like to talk about some of the ups and downs I have for this game, warning: there are spoilers ahead:
UPS:
- Kenji and Tensai:
This game did a really good job at portraying the main character, Kenji Johnson. Especially with his emotional states. When Kenji feels sad, I admit I would shed a tear or two as well. When he angry, I could feel his anger and understood the stress he is going through perfectly. What also made me like Kenji in this game is how analytical he is compared to the other characters. Literally, he was able to piece together who the “Commander” was, in either the main story or the alternate route. And when he is placed in an argument, he can not only keep his ground, but also contradict his opposition.

Before I get into the review, let me get some things said now. This is a reboot/remake of the first game with no breast expansion and very little fanservice. My opinion on it? I prefer it. Sure, this franchise is infamous for BE, but I felt this series was trying to focus on the story more. This VN isn’t a fanservice VN with time travel, but a story involving time travel WITH fanservice. However, I can see why people put more focus on the fanservice. Another thing is the failed Kickstarter and the things that weren’t able to make it in the game. Things like Voice acting, more illustrations, and even romance routes for the villains weren’t added in. However, I’m going to judge this game as to what we were given, not what it was supposed to be. Anyways…

Fox Spirit: A Two-Tailed Adventure
A cute choose-your-own-adventure story. It’s not super long, which means you can replay it a handful of times to try to get different ends. Has some RPG elements for the choices—some adjust your stats, some test them, some appear to be just flavor. The writing was pretty good, both in the sense of the words being smooth/well-edited and in the sense of having character arcs you can influence. It also does a VERY good job guiding you on the options for important choices—much better than some RPGs where what you choose and what the character actually does sometimes have very little relation.

A wonderful magical story about Kitsune. It sticks close to the traditional image of the magical foxes of japan, and gives you a lot of possible ways to direct the story, whatever your heart desires. I played it multiple times to see, what would have happen if i decided diffently on different ocassions an it was worth it. The story is not short and catching. If you love Kitsune and/or the stories about them, I can absolutely recommend.

A Day
The first 1-2 hours I thought the game was absolutely brilliant. Not paying attention to the description of the game on the store page that mentioned you’re going for a high score, I kept thinking I was unravelling a puzzle that had a bunch of pieces that needed to be put together to have a grand finale of a story. There is an absolute gem of an idea for a game here but I think having simply made it high score driven instead of more narrative focused is a huge missed opportunity. I loved and hated this one. Loved the concept, hated the fact that after 3 hours I felt empty knowing that I was just going for points instead of something bigger.

‘‘Sonder: the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own’’.
That’s how A Day makes me feel.
The game is short and beautifully crafted, you play a different cast of characters each with their abilities, goals, and needs, over the course of a day
the Goal of the game is slowly stitching the fate of every character in a way that in the end, they can help each other.

Blood for Poppies
I remember playing this demo on the COG forum years ago, and I was so excited to see that it’s finally been completed. It didn’t disappoint at all. Even though each playthrough is relatively short, they’ve been enjoyable so far and I like the choices and their impact on the game
The character development is fairly well-done, I especially liked Ashton, Kel, and Poppy. This story avoided the railroading I often see in RPG’s, and I felt like I had a good amount of control over my player character and his personality, feelings, and actions

Such an honor to play this amazing game just as it launched.
I hope many many more players will find and enjoy this.
This game is especially fitting for you if you like COGs, but don’t want to read a 10.000 words text every time before getting to pick a choice; as the writing is more straightforward and simple than to be expected from stories like this.
After 2 hours I reached my first ending - a fairly satisfying one - and I will keep trying out for more endings. A nice bonus this game has is an ending guide for just a few coins. Genius!

Journey of the Broken Circle
A simple but enjoyable story-driven platformer. I’m not really sure the trailer accurately portrays the context of the story but the game is fun; if the trailer or screenshots interest you, you’ll probably enjoy this game.

It really reminds me of Thomas was Alone both story and gameplay-wise with some minor differences. You’re controlling a circle instead of various rectangles through series of linear levels. The story is narrated through speech bubbles but sadly without any voiceover. If you liked Thomas was Alone, this will be right up your alley.
