Blade of Arena - 劍鬥界域

Blade of Arena - 劍鬥界域

I have updated this review on May 21st 2021’s update as I felt there was something particularly important to say about the new floating islands and its multiplayer.

A game of survival in an open world with combat centered around close combat using bladed weapons (hence the title). Yes, even hammers; their blades just don’t cut but beat your nose out of your face instead.

As someone who had already been bugtesting the game for months before the Early Release, here is my review:

-I find there to be a good deal of customization within the game. It starts in the menu where you can edit your character on various options. Most that can be colored uses a color wheel, which allows you to get a very specific shade of any color.

One of the worst shooters I have ever played. Gave this a 1/5 because at the very least the game runs properly?

Senpa.io

Senpa.io

This is a cross platform multiplayer online action game.

You start the game as a tiny bacteria (cell) in a petri dish. You must try to survive by avoiding attacks by bigger players. At the same time, you eat food and become a bigger and bigger cell, until you are large enough to eat other players.

The game is very immersive and has very active gameplay with a lot of action. All your enemies are real people, so you must find a good strategy to become the biggest cell on the gamefield! Anyone can become big in one moment, or lose all their progress in the next - so be careful :) Game mechanics are similar to other .io games which you probably already know - but this is not agar or diep!

This game was made by the same developers of Agar.io and is constantly updating with new and unique features!

Warning! This game is very addictive and takes form you a lot of effort to survive with so much action.

So if you die in the beginning, be patient, and improve your skills :)

How to Play Senpa.io

Senpa.io is simple to play, you simple use your mouse cursor to navigate around the screen, and you use space to split your cell, and W to eject mass. You also have a hotkey menu and you can create many custom controls!

Star Control I and II

Star Control I and II

For starters, I have loved this game since playing it on my 3DO as a child, and being frustrated (along with my father and brother) because of the difficulty. I saw that this was on sale and bought it for nostalgic purposes, and to get a little bit of the beta for Origins. I started the first Star Conrol, and for its time, that was a fun game. Minus an alluring storyline and multiple outcomes of a vast galaxy when compared to the second, I keep that game for back up. Thrilled to start the second one again and delve into childhood wonderment and anguish I’m sure, I was beyond bummed to find out that the PC verson, even this UPDATED awesome steam launch, doesn’t have audio files for the characters and aliens you meet. . . . Huge bummer, I am praying that they get an update out there that ports over the amazing 3D0 voices, because it completely changes the games feel and narrative. Overall, still excited to get the chance to play this amazing game again, and discover all the races and hidden artifacts that my child mind was too ignorant to strive for. Recommend this game completely, but 3D0 OG’s, be prepared for a kick in the feels when that first Ur-Quan drone hails you.

While i don’t have much experience with StarControl1, like many i DO have experience with StarControl2!

In my opinion, not only SC is on the Top 5 Sci-Fi universes, but on the Top 10 of best games!

Now, StarControl is not for everybody, it’s very old for today’s standards, and it’s very clunky to play, the game is very Lore Based, there is Much talking and it can be VERY slow

But the game got Charm, a Cute but Dreary style shows an universe enslaved by a Cruel race, but also shows it has Beauty and Humor in it!

Star Control III

Star Control III

This game gets a lot of flak for not being Star Control II. However, on the whole it plays very well. The diplomatic puzzles are of the same calibre if not better, the Story is pretty much exactly where you’d expect the story to continue from the last game. On the whole, it’s pretty fun.

There are a few things in the game that disappoint, and on a replay 25 years after I originally played it, the come off as little more then a game that was rushed to market. Land grinding has been replaced with a colony building system which feels like they were trying to (poorly) copy civilization games (or maybe master of Orion?) games of the day. But managing colonies does little to speed the game along other then sacrificing ship production for fuel production if you manage to run out of gas. And that’s all the part of the game ads up to: establishing little more then an inter-stellar network of fuelling stations. There’s a lot of potential in this, but rather then fun at all it’s a meaningless chore and a distraction.

Like Star Control: Origins is a reinvention of Star Control II, Star Control 3 was (and is) a bad, mid-90s attempt to re-invent the original Star Control. I’m a big fan of the Star Control series and played them as a kid starting with SC1 in the early 90’s.

Gone is the Hyperspace with galactic borders of SCII and in comes the 3D starmap and colony building of Star Control 1, re-imagined with Accolade’s attempt at the “hyper realism” that was in vogue in the mid-late 90s. Colors, music, and art is all muted and gray, set in a new quadrant devoid of all life.

There are some cool things about this game. First of all, the design of the characters and environment is fabulous. Second, I really enjoy jumping on the big robots and controlling them, especially the big robot with the flat head, it is aewsome when I jump with this robot. But there are some things that the developer should really refine. The internet is not very stable. There is only one map to play which is quite boring, but since I may play with my friends, it is ok. But, saddly, there is not many people online. The special effect of this game really needs to be polished. I wish there would be a function to chat with my friends when playing it. Last of all, which I think the really really important, is to have a guide for new players, because I spent half an hour fighting the enemies before I found out that I may jump on the giant robots and control them accidentally.

Ok, I just got done playing the game with some friends. Honestly, this game does have potential. There are some issues with this release like the combat being a bit clunky, it is hard to tell when you hit some one, and there is no death animation, but this is “pre-release”. Of course it will have issues. The artwork is stunning, and the whole concept/theme is really cool.

Is it worh $8.99? Well if you have patience or have friends you can play with quickly yes it is. Becuase this is multiplayer you will have to wait for people to join. Simply fighting the bots in game is cool but can get bland.

Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers

Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers

Fun game for my 4yr old. I like how they incorporate some of the educational stuff from the show in the loading screens

Real player with 4.5 hrs in game

Purchased for my nearly 4 year old son who loves Blaze and the Monster Machines and has experience playing games on his tablet and a little time on the Switch and PS4. He really loves being able to play as all the (fully-voiced!) characters. He also really loves Auto-Drive which basically made this a game where he watches the race and occasionally presses the “Special Power” button. There are only 10 courses (Three 3-course championships and one “Final Challenge” that is just a single loop five times.) I’m on the fence to recommend this, but what pushes me over to NO is the lack of courses. Honestly, it’s fine that this game is simple but any child over 5 is going to find this boring within 30-minutes to an hour, I think. My son isn’t quite to two hours playing and he’s already kind of over it.

Entered a death match, hovered in the middle of the map, and proceeded to kill the same 3 clueless newbies 20 times in a row each. Used the same attacks and tactics the entire time and they never learned. Cackled loudly. Fireball/10

PS: If you press T you can chat, but it locks other controls. The game is full of cancerous roleplayers and girls looking to tell you details of their life to get attention instead of actually playing the game. Get them talking for easy headshots/XP.

I have always been into fantasy games, even the most simplified of them all such as this one. The concept is simple, attack and kill opponents, level up, unlock the next skin. Not too shabby. I’ve managed to convince several of my gamer friends to give this game a try and majority of them have had a positive outlook on it. It’s a real shame that this was all that I could possibly find as a recently-created simulator for the PC, that allows you to experience gameplay as the dragon itself. As much as I would like to glorify this game for more than it really is; there are many downsides that should be addressed as well.
