Unruly Heroes

Unruly Heroes

Unruly Heroes is a well made game, packed with action focus + various platformer.

4 characters have their own unique ability, for solving different puzzles and have distinctive benefits against different bosses.

The original story of Journey to the West, the Monkey King (孫悟空) fought and killed the Skull Demon (白骨精) 3 times. The Skull Demon in the game is designed to have 3 stages, Magic Design Studios has certainly catch such detail.

Another touch of the detail is about the Monkey King, MK has a lot of monkies in his tribe (猴子猴孫), and his special move is to call everyone to strike on the enemies. MK also has a Golden Cudgel which can expand or shrink at MK’s will, and the dev team used this feature for various challenges.

Fun blend of platforming and side-scrolling combat. I think there are games out there that do this better, but I’m also missing part of the experience due to the limit of co-op being local. It’s still worth a play, and look forwards to see what these guys do going forwards. This Wukong is my place-holder until the next Warriors Orochi game, or Black Myth.

*Just finished this game. It gets a 6.7 / 10 from me (Slightly above average).

It has great music, and a nice art style. The platforming is its strength, and the combat is pretty weak and boring. It’s clear this game is designed to play mainly as Wukong or Big Blue, as some of the obstacles feel damn near impossible with the other two lame characters. Speaking of characters, as you can tell from my use of the words Big Blue, they are super forgettable from a mixture of terrible voice acting, and no real story progression. They had great source material to pull from, but opted for just following the theme. The characters are also not helped by no progression from upgrades to help feel invested. The bosses are quite similar, and rather boring to fight. Lady White was the only fun boss, and she was the first one. (And Kings of the Underworld if you can count those).

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince

Playing Trine 4 right after Finishing T1,2 and 3.. The revert and a step back to Trine 2 design rejuvenate my faith for the game.

First of all, the concerning about Trine 4 continuing what they did in Trine 3 is gone. Trine 3 never existed in Trine 4 universe other than the inherrited assets and ideas (which also ruined Trine 4 in a way).

The Devs start a new story in Trine 4 with nothing related to Trine 3. Trine 3 never existed. You don’t get to see the ending of Trine 3, but you also don’t have to worry about getting half a game continued from a previous badly made one. This here is a full game of its own.

achievements

easy 100% - achievements order you to either finish a level or collect all obtainables. plenty of guides, plus it isn’t hard to find them on your own. DLC doesn’t contain any achievements, so you may skip it and still get 100% (unlike in Trine 2)

Trine 2 or Trine 4?

any of them will be good. Trine 4 has better graphics, polished HUD and better UX; Trine 2 has a better puzzle-combat flow. in other words one game nailed the presentation, another got gameplay right - but either of them will be a nice choice. I prefer Trine 2, tho

A horribly LAZY port…

$30, for a terrible, terrible port of a game that isn’t even worth $15? How do they have the audacity to charge $30 for this, on PC, when it’s such a dreadful experience to play it on PC? I mean sure, charge $15 for it on consoles or Switch where you can actually play the thing with the intended controls, but to charge TWICE what the game is worth on PC, AND then make such a terrible port, is just taking the piss

Pros:

Cons: #1. No mouse support whatsoever. This is BY FAR the biggest problem.

Very fun and easy-to-play game for 2-players – we are six missions into the game and playing at Normal difficulty. I am not sure how it will scale with more players though.

We also tend to load the ammo as quickly as possible with little regard for the enemy-fired ammo, so as to overwhelm the enemy through sheer ammo numbers. Through this approach, each mission takes us about 10 minutes to complete and thus is manageable time-wise.

Gameplay

A key part of the game is understanding each character’s strengths and weaknesses. These characters can’t do everything on their own! For instance, Bo can’t directly fight the storms off, but she can shield F1LL against the storms until F1LL can fight it.

Bo and F1LL have to gather enough Essence and Fragments to help repair the Isle’s Landmark. The central Landmark is critical to the health of Idylla, and in its shattered state, Bo’s home is susceptible to harsh weather, driving all of her siblings to hide in various spots around the Isle.

Features

  • Couch Co-op (can be played solo too!)

  • Unique gameplay abilities and interactions for each character

  • Explore a beautifully hand-crafted world and be rewarded with collectibles

  • Solve each area’s secret!

  • Fight back the storms destroying the land

  • Restore the landscape back to its beautiful state!

  • Unravel the mystery of what’s happening to the Isle

  • See your interactions with the world unfold in real-time

I have read most of the reviews about the game before the purchase and I must say after trying it out, Im totally flabbergasted by how harsh and untrue the complaints were. Yes, there are significant changes (not all good) from the previous release but overall it is STILL a bloody decent game for its time. I have played my fair share of bad games my entire life but this aint it and I often wonder if those people who condemned this game even come from the same planet I live in while I load the game up and think about what combos Im able to pull off that session.

The game is just as fun as I remember, the combat systems haven’t changed. The game would have done well, if not better, if the actual 3d models were utilized instead of sprites, imo, but regardless: Now it’s all in HD, with a loading time of less then 5 seconds and smooth 60 frames (GTX 1060). I’ve been having a lot of fun with this beat-em-up port. But: With that said, there are some glaring criticisms.

-Artifacts from the original port are still there, and still outstanding. The pixelation being the most obvious, especially in the cutscenes.

Never Return

Never Return

the basis of behind the scene should be explained first.

it’s almost like im playing one of those old school dungeon crawler games but with more possibilities due to the higher possibilities of the unity engine. i’ve been enjoying the game even though it’s early access. something about the early access tag that many people might not understand is that unlike almost all the early access titles that have existed, the devs of this game have NO intention of staying early access forever. the roadmap is on the store page and the team clearly are trying their best to stay on the time frames despite the small size. pulling overnight shifts and extra days to deliver.

Never Return

Never Return is a brand spanking new 3D, action-adventure, dungeon-crawler with Roguelite elements. The Steam store page says it’s a Roguelite experience, but Nah, I would say it’s more of a Roguelite+ experience.

Every time you die, you can revive yourself with in-game soul currency as many times as you want until your pocket runs dry.

This game is beautiful. I was immersed every second of it and it gave me the feels.

Playing it with a best friend or someone you're very close to hits on a whole different level.

It's one of the best experiences I've had so far, it makes me crave more games like this.

If you have a close friend and you're looking for something to co-play together, this will be a wonderful time for you.
