Purgo box
Genuinely one my favorite gaming experiences. Extremely creepy and surreal specially when your nausea is low and you’re randomly flashed with eerie videos or images. A bit confusing sometimes because the translation is done by AI and since the game is so unknown (and Japanese) it’s hard to find information (in English). Definitely not for everyone specially with some of the gory imagery, but overall a really really good experience that I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys more artsy-abstract games and exploring visually interesting worlds.

Like a surreal playable artpiece filled with brainfucks and thought-provoking dialogue that somehow make you feel like nothing and everything connect together. There are so many rooms and secrets that probably give this game a +100 hour playtime. Just a reminder that a living, breathing human sat down and tirelessly laboured over making this. Hats off to you rentaka, amazing music too.

Alt254
My story with this game has been one of love and hate. The reason I bought the game (and created the Steam account) was the feeling it aroused in me when I remembered the good times I had as a child playing “Adventure” with my friends. However, the first impression with Alt254 was not as satisfactory as I expected, perhaps because I was looking for something similar to the experience lived with one of my favorite video games.
For some reason I kept playing and, despite a few moments of frustration and having found some minor bugs, I managed to complete the game … twice. Now I have seen a new update, but I don’t think I will play a 3rd time again to see the changes. What I am clear about is that it is a game that deserves a chance (sometimes it makes you want to quit) and that it may become one of those hidden gems that every player should enjoy! Congrats to the team!

In short, I really like the game, but I can’t recommend it due to the bugs.
I like the minimalist design. It’s interesting how much can be conveyed with just a small number of multicolored square blocks. Music is also nice and retro. Good ambiance. Controls have been improved and are smoother than when it was first released.
I don’t like that the enemies respawn every time I use a save point to heal. As a design choice, I would have the enemies respawn in areas further away from the save point (that is, everywhere else), but not just around the corner. Maybe if they respawned everywhere beyond 200 blocks in any direction of the save point, for example. But, I suppose I can deal with it.

StarStruck
This game is so beautiful, clever, and challenging! I had such a blast playing it, and though there were a few laggy bits along the way, the experience and creativity far outweighed any complaints I may have had. The changing mechanics throughout were so fun to figure out and kept me fully engaged and immersed, and the music and sound design were so well crafted and didn’t feel repetitive despite the need in games of this sort to attempt levels many times over! I highly reccomend this game for anyone who wants to challenge themselves, anyone who likes platformers, and anyone on the hunt for new and beautiful indie games! This game was such an impressive debut for Dev/designer Taylor Cochrane and my fingers are crossed for a follow up game in the future!

Fun as hell! Try playing it with a controller instead of keyboard if you can, it’s way easier that way. Highly recommended!

Shine Within
-Yes, this game is free, and no, i think it would have been better to keep this in an early access state.-
Some factors remind me of games like Undertale, some ‘jokes’ of Toby Fox’s style of writing in general.
Having said that, this game misses opportunities to build up irony where it seemingly wants to, which results in boring gameplay fairly quickly. Unfortunately i had a game breaking bug ontop, unable to get the last piece of a mandatory objective, hence i could not advance in the game and had to start over right at the beginning.

For a free game, it isn’t bad. I can tell there was a strong inspiration from Undertale. There isn’t any combat here and the puzzles are all very mild. There is a story hidden here, but it is told in a vague enough fashion that I never really felt sucked into the world. Especially since the “memories” start coming quickly towards the end, breaking the flow of action time and time again.
That being said, I can see a lot of passion behind this game and it is definitely worth a try…especially for free!

Tiny Hunter
Tiny Hunter is a platformer in which you play as an antivirus clearing files of viruses by killing them and platforming to the end of each level. Everything is presented with that idea in mind, with the game’s menus being inside a computer and levels being presented as files. Even as a pretence to give players a bunch of levels to play, it’s simple but works well and doesn’t detract from what you actually want here: running through levels at the speed of sound, dashing like a madman to the exit.

Just played an hour of Tiny Hunter and it’s a great, challenging platformer. Playing without a controller was really difficult (as someone who rarely plays keyboard only) but great fun and I’m a big fan of the speed run mode. Clean and clear UI with a steep but fun challenge curve. If you’re into twitchy 2D platformers and have an appetite for speed running, well worth a look!
