Resonant

Resonant

Resonant is an open, rhythm based experience. Explore a world that breathes with sound, choosing your musical path to discover all that the landscape has to reveal. The game allows you to construct your own soundscapes, creating a puzzle-like experience where different melodic combinations create different movements and pathways throughout the world. Your journey will reveal everything that a marriage between nature and sound has to offer.

Genuinely one my favorite gaming experiences. Extremely creepy and surreal specially when your nausea is low and you’re randomly flashed with eerie videos or images. A bit confusing sometimes because the translation is done by AI and since the game is so unknown (and Japanese) it’s hard to find information (in English). Definitely not for everyone specially with some of the gory imagery, but overall a really really good experience that I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys more artsy-abstract games and exploring visually interesting worlds.

Like a surreal playable artpiece filled with brainfucks and thought-provoking dialogue that somehow make you feel like nothing and everything connect together. There are so many rooms and secrets that probably give this game a +100 hour playtime. Just a reminder that a living, breathing human sat down and tirelessly laboured over making this. Hats off to you rentaka, amazing music too.

Red and White

Red and White

Red and White combines metroidvania-style exploration with puzzle elements and an abstract art style.

Explore a vast world and restore to it the colors it once used to have. Each time a color is restored, the walls that used to be of that color will act differently, and with clever use of them, you’ll be able to reach new areas you couldn’t previously.

The untapped potential of Adonis is more than evident. Getting to see the awesome work of the dev team during the beta has given me a lot of hope for what this little open world RPG has to come. I am especially looking forward to the PVP side of things as the team has specifically put in quite a bit of time in that area, even creating an amazing arena for future tournaments to be held in. The physics feel nice and the graphics are cute and entertaining.

Definitely be on the look out for this one in the coming months as more updates are released.

Flatout 3 killer.

This game gave me stage 3 prostate cancer and my wife left me with our 8 kids (it’s not all bad news after all). I would recommend this game too all of those who want to commit suicide and experience how horrible this world is.

This game is bound to not give you any will to live anymore, that’s for sure.

Door2:Key

Door2:Key

Door2:Key was a pretty fun game. To my surprise there was a few places I found myself scratching my head and running in circles for a key or a puzzle you think, oh these are the same, and nope back to the start with you. Which can cause frustration to those solving it themselves, or the early players as there was no guide.

Only negative was not being able to disable background music. At the time I played the Audio options didn’t seem to do anything. After spending a few days last week running around Chapter 4 I wanted nothing more than to disable background music but nope. ‘Mute’ didn’t even do anything but it’s something the developer may fix after seeing this.

Nira

Nira

Nira is a pixel based RPG which heavily reminds me of the old Holy Grail on the Atari 800 from back in the 80s.

The price is very generous for the content, hard time, and updates to come.

I purchased this game moment it was released as I could not bare to be without Nira once the beta ended.

I had the opportunity to play this game and help with debugging and suggestions along with many others who helped out as well.

The game is quite simple to learn, and very enjoyable. It’s one of those games you start playing then realize the day flew by.

I’ve been really enjoying playing Nira, so far, I know it’s early days right now but I find the gameplay engaging and the items satisfying to obtain and use.

It’s very easy to get into; the way that the tools progress leads you nicely through the crafting tree, the combat is simple and rewarding (especially once you have gathered enough resources for projectile weapons), and I enjoy the foraging/farming aspect, it’s nice to see crops that you have gathered, or traded for, grow.

I cannot speak to the multiplayer myself, as I have yet to try it, but I enjoy the single player mode immensely.

Evergarden

Evergarden

While it might seem like a simple/basic (ie easy) puzzle game, it’s actually pretty complex and takes skill/time to keep moving forward to get a better score/complete the achievements. But, the sometimes frustration of doing poorly in the puzzle area is made up for by beautiful graphics, nice music/sounds, and a very peaceful/(yes I know it’s contradictory to say) relaxing bit of game play. Basically, it’s a wonderful game to both look at and play, while also being difficult enough to where you feel accomplished completing an achievement yet not hard enough to make any of them unobtainable with practice.

Options include separate sliders for Music and SFX, Full-screen and Quality.

If you cannot interact with the game (clicking does nothing), make sure that there isn’t anything pushing on your controller, and the problem should be fixed.

Story:

There is an understated story that ties everything loosely together, but I can’t tell you much about it without giving things away. We will find a couple of notes that help, including this one from the very beginning of the game:

MirrorMoon EP

MirrorMoon EP

OK, I bought this game a couple days ago and started by putting a couple hours on it. I made it through Side A (basically the tutorial) and visited a few stars in Side B (the main game). If I had written the review at that point it would have been a fairly negative one. The next day I decided to have another go at it before writing a bad review. My intent was to only play an hour or so… I ended up spending basically the whole day and logged about eight more hours on it, lol. Needless to say, MirrorMoon had really grown on me and I had slowly fallen in love with this game.

Real player with 22.3 hrs in game

So far, this game looks like it’s going to be one of my favorite games of all time. However, I cannot say that it’s perfect or spectacular without a lot of bias. This game happens to have just about everything I love in a game, so of course I really, REALLY like it, but it is not without faults.

The reason why I like this game so much probably has to do with my favorite attributes to have in a video game. They would be: exploration, puzzles, atmosphere, huge size (why I like games that use procedural generation so much, which this game has) and space.

Door

Door

Doors can close the passageway from one room to another or from one room to outside. They can help with privacy and isolation from outside things like bugs and allergens. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to open a door.

Step 1: Locate Desired Door

First you need to locate a door that you would like to open and make sure that it is currently closed. Trying to open an already open door can look a bit strange.

Step 2: Locate Door Handle or Knob

Locate the handle or knob on said door. This is what is used to open a door.

Real player with 14.7 hrs in game

The puzzles are good and quick, I recommend this for anyone who looks for a quick puzzle game. Emphasis on quick. In mere 5 hours of playtime I have all achievements except Fail Door (I am still trying to figure that out) and most of these 5 hours is due to Einstein Mode restarting all over even if I accidentally make a mistake in the 6th door of the run. A first run of the game is probably AT MOST two and a half hours.

However it has some problems.

  • Especially in the False Door (coincidentally, my personal favorite door) there is a particular room where the answer isn’t obvious, i.e. there is another door with the exact same qualities the correct door has down to the sound effect that plays when near it, so you just have to try both.
