Hell Invades Heaven

Hell Invades Heaven

Read carefully, as this story is too boring to read it again.

You, an absolutely newbie hellish commander, gain the possibility* to prove that all rumors about your person are at least 28% wrong, and you are in fact capable of commanding small forces in the greatest Hell vs Heaven war that ever happened**.

Put on your Unterleutnant uniform and do your job.

What you probably want to know:

  • 15*** almost beautiful, challenging levels on Hell, Earth and Heaven scenery.

  • 10 different minions, so you don’t need to do everything yourself.

  • A lot of challenging puzzles that may be impossible to solve for people under 5 y.o.

  • Interesting dialogues for full silent cinema experience.

  • You can decorate Devil with tattoos****.

  • Beware of holy water!

–—-

_* of course if you buy or torrent game, otherwise you will be seen as uncappable of this tasks for the rest of your life

** at least in this dimension; C137 and D2R2 are much more interesting in this case

*** circa about, I run out of fingers counting

**** butterfly on back is strictly forbidden!_

Don’t let the initial presentation fool you - this is an incredibly creative 2D platformer with unique visuals and an outstanding soundtrack. My first playthrough, I constantly found myself saying “the next level couldn’t get any weirder than this” only for the game to do just that.

The only caveat is that some levels are a bit obtuse and frustrating to figure out without a guide - but that’s something you can find easily enough.

Ticket is the product that challenges your preconceived notions of what games are about. It is certain that the so-called seriously taken game reviewers would not be able to give acclaim to this game, as it does not follow the conventional rules of high quality game design. This tells about the sad state of gaming industry rather than about Ticket though. If you are the person who thinks that good games follow strict rulesets of certain design-economic and mathematically measured criteria and are usually some sports titles followed by a running year number or the latest installment of a well-established series, then Ticket might not be for you.

Circa Infinity

Circa Infinity

Immaculate.

In nearly every aspect, Circa Infinity has vastly exceeded my expectations, and sits well near the top of my list of most intelligently designed games I have ever played. A minimalist, puzzle platformer is the last game I would expect to enjoy this immensely amongst a sea of indie titles. I consider the genre to be the equivalent of the FPS of the indie scene: a sort of formulaic attempt to tread ground into the industry, but CI is perhaps the most exhilarating take on a tired template in every aspect of its design. It will consistently challenge your thinking while simultaneously presenting you every tool necessary to complete and appreciate the pieces which meld this wonderful game.

Circa Infinity (& Affinity). What a game.

Circa Infinity is a puzzle mode featuring 5 worlds. As you progress, you will encounter worlds that introduce new game concepts, especially in worlds 4 & 5. If you aim for completion, I advise you to take your time and carefully analyze the movement patterns. However, if you’re an achievement hunter (like me), perfect your hand-eye coordination, your visual memory layout of the levels, and your commitment into seeing this through to the end. I didn’t receive a proper warning, so I’ll warn you now: if you lack any of the three points I’ve listed above, DON’T go for Circa Infinity achievements.

-Yes, this game is free, and no, i think it would have been better to keep this in an early access state.-

Some factors remind me of games like Undertale, some ‘jokes’ of Toby Fox’s style of writing in general.

Having said that, this game misses opportunities to build up irony where it seemingly wants to, which results in boring gameplay fairly quickly. Unfortunately i had a game breaking bug ontop, unable to get the last piece of a mandatory objective, hence i could not advance in the game and had to start over right at the beginning.

For a free game, it isn’t bad. I can tell there was a strong inspiration from Undertale. There isn’t any combat here and the puzzles are all very mild. There is a story hidden here, but it is told in a vague enough fashion that I never really felt sucked into the world. Especially since the “memories” start coming quickly towards the end, breaking the flow of action time and time again.

That being said, I can see a lot of passion behind this game and it is definitely worth a try…especially for free!

Skyward Descent

A really compelling game, I started it up to see what the deal was and immediately lost half an hour to it.

The game is very easy to pick up and play, and for the most part the gameplay is easy to understand. There are a few things that are frustrating to me playing this game, though.

After defeating a boss, if you haven’t taken any damage, you get an option to shuffle around some of your stats. I’ve gotten options like “+30 HP & -30 HP” multiple times, which is incredibly frustrating because it makes one of your options useless. There is another power up called “Lucky Items” that is supposed to give you more stat boosts in the game, but I never noticed any difference when I got it.

Excellent 90-minute classic-style survival horror. It is occasionally possible to get softlocked if you aren’t efficient enough, but starting over isn’t a huge deal– the game is fairly short and fast once you know the route.

The Tale of Doris and the Dragon - Episode 1

The Tale of Doris and the Dragon - Episode 1

The Tale of Doris and the Dragon - Episode 1 appears to be a game first seen on good ol' Newgrounds, bearing a quite short, yet immersive experience of an old lady (who is not immediately aware of their own death, which appeared to happen in possibly sinister circumstances), following her journey through the void and afterlife in hopes of meeting up with her husband once again, this time with updated visuals.

A rather annoyed, yet very helpful british dragon will assist you as much as he can, being able to be called at any time with a phone-like device that you obtain quite early on.

11/10 would use Transitional Support again.

Short but good game - it only took about an hour for me to complete.

I really enjoyed the funny and unique characters. The voice acting seemed perfect to me and really made this game more enjoyable - reading lots of text can get boring. The pixelelated graphics were simple but effective and the soundtrack was decent.

I would have liked for it to be longer (Episode 2 is going to be much longer though) and felt the last rib puzzle was a bit unfair (I’m pretty bad with music and had to search up a tutorial on how to play Fur Elise).
