This is one of those ones where you just lie down and watch in the middle of your play place. It does go on a bit long though, but if you’re looking for a evocative, subtle, meditative experience (and you really do want to kill 15 minutes) you will enjoy this. I don’t think it features any advanced positional audio technologies, but it nice to have the sound come at you from varying angles.

! Incidentally, I need to purchase a bean-bag chair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a651Dd_mP04

It is a genuine looped art demonstration that fits perfectly into a VR space (with added binaural audio).

The screens use heavily compressed video, though, and it shows in the darker scenes and the ones with lots of slower movement.

When I purchased it, it was $0.99 which I feel is perectly priced for what it is. This is a good demonstration of what VR can do outside of games.

Lost Dream

Lost Dream

First, there was WORK TRIP. A short and simple Game in a colourfull World. Lighthearted and chilling with a nice Music. And so was the second Game HIKE. It was like that, too, but it added an Exciting Atmosphere.

Now we have the third Game of Morning Shift Studios.

Welcome to LOST DREAM.

At first,LOST DREAMS seems to be inspired by THE FIRST TREE, it feels like a Bow to it.

In both Games we have a wonderfull World, nice Piano Music and a Fox on the Search.

And i like it.

I love this game, though it honestly is tiny. It only took me thirty five minute to unlock all the achievements and play through the game twice. And the second time I was poking around, having fun. You play as a fox who is off to rescue his vixen. In your search you’ll travel across several colorful levels, jumping, swimming, and figuring out a puzzle.

I enjoyed it, but if you are expecting the scope or storyline on The First Tree, you might be disappointed. You are a fox, complete with cute little fox paws and swishy tail. The swimming and running animations are cute, and there are nice details like falling leaves.

Here’s the long and short of it:

The Good:

Fantastic visuals, not too taxing on resources so you can really pump up the resolution. Pure VR eye candy.

The Middle:

Guided experiences (vocal) are… adequate. The guy is tolerable, the woman is just nails on a chalkboard.

The fun comes in the solo/choose your own experience mode.

If you don’t like the ingame music, mute the volume on that app and play whatever you want on VLC. There SHOULD be an ingame option for this.

The Bad:

The entire thing uses a gaze based centering system in order to keep you looking head on.

5 minutes of this feels like waking from a restful nights sleep.

Excellent blend of relaxing binaural sound and pulsed light visuals.

The visuals aren’t going to blow your socks off but they aren’t meant to being more abstract and calming.

If you have VR and just need to chill out a bit for 10 minutes you really cant go wrong.

The guided meditation intro shouldn’t be skipped

Back Then

Back Then

Back Then is a yet unseen take in the videogame industry about an elderly poet diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, dealing not only with how our elders and their families change and learn to adapt to this newfound unavoidable and inevitable loss of memory and identity, but also show players that there is more to these situations than simple forgetfulness as we age.

Thomas Eilian is an elderly poet and writer diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Bound to only move around in a wheelchair, he finds himself alone for what seems like years roaming an empty house. “The clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting.”

  • In-depth narrative and storytelling experience.

  • Creative gameplay mechanics related to Alzheimer’s and forgetfulness, where the character starts to remember (and forget) his past and present.

  • Inspired by real events and stories of people with Alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative diseases, told by family members and loved ones.

  • Focus on interactivity, grab, interact with everything and learn as much as possible.

  • Scientific breakdown via collectibles about Alzheimer’s.

This is a story about Time, Death, and Soul. It is a story about the mind, from the mind. It is a story about ignorance and forgetfulness.

Through this story we hope to make as many people as we can uncomfortable, but aware to the reality of millions.

Sunlight

Sunlight

Awful. A collection of random voices muttering gibberish in splat water color forest, and your arms are missing. You can’t understand what they are saying, so just tune them out. There is nothing to interact with, just painted trees and land, and sky. It takes a full minute to boot into it, and likewise to get out of it… Maybe if you waste 20 minutes into it, you can find some angle in the ‘forest’ to take a few nice screenshots and use them as desktop wall paper. But not much else in this, some additional random moaning choir music, pleasant but formless and meaningless. Pity, it seemed like it would have potential if they cleaned up the broken audio noise, reverb overload and overlapping garbled voices. In SETTINGS - You can turn down the voices, the Music, and or turn down the nature sounds to Silent. Try just Nature, no voices, no music. Then, you’ll enjoy a quiet walk in the woods. It does have an ending once you pick a handful of flowers. You can post your thoughts at the ending to share them with others. You could also just put on the music and silence the rest, enjoy the music playing in the background while you work. But the voices - ugh - babbling gibberish. Graphics 7/10 - watercolor trees.

Sunlight

Sunlight is a thirty-minute walk through a beautiful forest enhanced by a wonderful Tchaikovsky arrangement. It’s a decent entry in the walking sim genre.

SINGULARITY WORLD

Nice and challenging game. I suggest adding a menu access while in the game.

I personally liked the game on its inspirations of Limbo, Inside, The Mist, & Silent Hill. I liked the puzzles, but the last two levels before the boss battle were quite long for a short game. I’m impressed to see that this game was made specifically by one person, & translated by another. I feel there might not be enough spawn checkpoints for the last two puzzles as having to run with such a big map takes a long time. The one extra checkpoint you get in the testing facility with the sentry guns is the elevator. When it comes to the tram level, it takes a very long time for the main tram to get to your character, but I felt the speed of the other trams was fair to solve the puzzle. This isn’t to say I didn’t like the vast set pieces. Seeing that on the bridge genuinely startled me. This proof of concept is well done & I genuinely want this developer to experiment more. P.S the ragdolling was hilarious & also some of the issues I had were fixed in some of the patches.
