Aquanox Deep Descent

Aquanox Deep Descent

Aquanox Deep Descent is the attempt to revive an older franchise. It began with a game named Archimedean Dynasty, released in 1996. 2 Sequels followed, under the new brand name of Aquanox.

All of those games were quite similar to the “three degrees of freedom” space simulation games that came up roughtly at the same time, but tried to put themselves apart by not going up, but rather down. All three might be considered aaa titles considering the amount of work and effort, as well as content they provided at the time. Even though their success probably fell short of that.

Overview

Aquanox Deep Descent (ADD) is a semi-open world shooter set underwater, after the world endured the “Last Day” - an apocalyptic event where most of humanity perished and the rest was forced into oceanic depths. Players impersonate Kaelen, one of the chosen few to be preserved in stasis for centuries, now woken up by unclear circumstances. After a dangerous escape, he and his companions - left without most memories - decide to embark on a quest to find the answers about their past, forging alliances and facing many dangers along the way.

DRONE The Game

DRONE The Game

One hell of a game. Although still a prototype, I think you’ll enjoy the public release. I was a backer for this project and I can say that the money I spent was more than worth it. If you paid mind to the game’s info, you likely saw the 12 backer tiers. I started out at Tier 2 (“Traveler”) when I first heard of the game. When they released the multiplayer demos I couldn’t wait, so I bumped up to Tier 3 (“Explorer”) a few months later. Last year I decided to upgrade to Tier 4 (“Operator”), and as of 2 July 2019 I ended up upgrading to Tier 5 (“Engineer”) because this game really has turned out so well. If you needed proof for how much these guys delivered, here you go.

This game showed significant promise in its early stages, and the main draw for me was being able to build and fly my own little fighting drones in the editor - with the hope of eventually being able to create land-based units with tank treads or mechanical legs.

However, development on this title unfortunately seems to have slowed to a complete halt: there hasn’t been an update, not even a bugfix, in over a year, and there’s been no word on how development is progressing in about 6 months.

They succeeded in their promise of delivering a functional drone editor, but even then a good portion of its features and place-able parts are unfinished, and at the moment users are restricted to basic cubes which they can cut into other shapes, as opposed to the totally freeform shapes seen in prebuilt designs. There’s also the slight issue of players being able to min-max their builds to obscene effectiveness by just putting a bunch of wings or something.

Star Age: Space Combat

Star Age: Space Combat

A promising game; similar to star fox, but it’s all space pvp. It moves away from the “big battleship” kind of gameplay you’ve come to expect from space shooters these days. Still rough overall, but if you enjoyed star fox: assault’s space multiplayer, you’ll want to wish list this game for sure.

This game is fucking awesome. I don’t really know what to say about it but this game feels really good, its fun, has a nice community, mods. the game feels realistic but very easy for anyone to pick up and improve, most of the technology in-game actually exists irl, but in-game its very simplified

great game, tons of amazing modded maps and planes. if you like any flight sim get this. its controls are super easy to learn, understanding weapons may take some time but you will learn it pretty fast if you just watch a couple videos and play with them yourself.

Great game! Personally I liked dual wielding weapons. The game is both great for a chill play-through or if you’re going for points/time and want to higher up on the Leader board. Personally my favourite gun was the Deagle. If you’re looking for a good VR experience, then definitely worth buying!

Subwar 2050

Subwar 2050

The year is 2050. The ocean is the next frontier and war inevitably reaches the depths of the sea. As an independent mercenary working for a corporate conglomerate, you pilot the latest fighter subs to protect the corporation’s interests in exchange for cold hard cash. With 5 different theaters of operations (of varying difficulty) and an interesting mix of aerial-style submarine tactics, you’ll be fighting fierce battles for corporate territory beneath the waves.

The Plot Deepens is an expansion disk for Subwar 2050. It features a few new subs and weapons across three new campaigns: the Bermuda Triangle, the Mediterranean and The North Cape. In each of these campaigns, you’ll launch your attack sub from its home carrier to protect the interests of multinational corporations engaged in mining, research, and development under the sea.

  • Includes the original Subwar 2050 and its expansion, The Plot Deepens.

  • Pilot four types of submarine including deep-sea exploration vessels, reconnaissance subs, and highly maneuverable fighter submarines.

  • Explore thousands of square miles of accurately mapped 3d underwater seascapes in four different multi-mission campaigns: the Antarctic Ocean, the North Atlantic, the South China Sea, and the Sea of Japan.

  • ‘Simulated Combat’ mode lets you master maneuvers such as Knuckles and Deep Dives before entering a mission.

Excellent retro style shooter, reminding legendary Commodore/Atari/Sinclair game ‘Virus’ (especially fighter control scheme). Simple, well balanced, slightly addictive. Ideal for casual relax.
