Interregnum Chronicles: Signal

Interregnum Chronicles: Signal

First advice: Read the game description closely :)

This plays like a “walking” simulator inside a satellite called “Harmony” that accommodates one person, so you’re floating in microgravity with ways to grab onto things and push yourself around. The core of the game is to tweak signal processing using human interfacing terminals, and that mysterious signal of unknown origin and requires decoding to find out what it is/says/does. At first the system doesn’t have the capacity to process the entire signal so an Operator (you) needs to approve lots of AI upgrades. See where this is going?

So I have played this game a fair bit and tried to “get into it” but honestly, it’s pretty awful. I’m writing this review with steam saying that I have had 11 hours playtime, but really it’s more like 5 or 6 because I would leave the game on to “idle” in order to farm the necessary resources to progress the story.

And that is pretty much the game in a nutshell. Leaving it running to obtain an ever increasing targeted number of resources that are basically just numbers on one of several terminal screen’s. There are Networking, Data Processing and Memory “resources” that you need to increase in order to upgrade the stations AI and each resource is tied to the others with glass ceilings that you need to break by obtaining more of one of the other resources. There are ways to expedite the process such as using up to 4 batteries on a terminal but honestly, that just gets annoying. The batteries will explode if you overcharge them (or at least damage the stations electrics) and when you do use them they don’t last long at all. I haven’t timed them but I would be shocked if they actually last more than a minute or two at most. When you do have to recharge them as well, you can only carry one at a time and so you have to take each one from where you need it back to the garden where the charging ports are. Obviously you can’t plug one in and leave it charging whilst you fetch another as it will likely overcharge and short out the electrics so you end up floating along carrying one for a 2nd, dropping it to pick up another, dropping it to pick up a 3rd and so on until you get them where you need to go. Obviously you are in space with no gravity and so they drift…. a lot. Yeah, lets just say that gets old. Fast.

The Secret of Retropolis

The Secret of Retropolis

Disclaimer: I was given a copy for free as I was involved in the beta testing for the Steam version.

The game was successfully enjoyed with an Oculus Quest 2 headset and Airlink.

The Secret of Retropolis is a classic point & click adventure game in VR that puts you in the pants of a robot detective that is hired by a famous movie star to retrieve a stolen necklace. The story will evolve in unpredicted ways in the classic style of a film noir.

Let’s get the elephant out of the room, it’s a short experience and it will not require more than 1h30 for a first playthrough.

Don’t call it outdated – it’s retro! Point and click adventures are back in the charming, tongue-in-cheek film noir “The Secret of Retropolis.”

The Good:

1. Art/Style – Put simply, Retropolis is a bundle of cel-shaded panache that feels like someone took all the best parts of the artistic styles of Metropolis, Futurama, and the classic LucasArts SCUMM engine point and clicks, brought to life in VR. The “film within a film” cutscenes are a particular standout in terms of presentation.

ANDERSON

ANDERSON

Definitely recommend this game if you like puzzle adventures, and the price is well worth it at this time. The graphics are good and it runs well ( I am using Vive Pro wireless with Vive controllers) now that the devs have applied some quick hot fixes….this dev team is the most responsive of all game devs that I have seen on Steam ( and I have been a Steam/Valve member since 1999)….shows you how much they care about making this game great.

No real complaints as it is a lot of fun….and the puzzles are challenging but not extremely difficult. The atmosphere is generally dark and the immersion is good. Audio/sounds are well done to match the content.

Anderson is a very fun puzzle game. Even though its still in early access, it has a lot of potential! I noticed a few bugs and other issues during game play, and the developers were very receptive to the reports and suggestions.

If you like puzzle games, especially in VR, this is one title to get and solve!

Okay, it’s a pretty solid game but I can’t recommend it to anyone who plays much in the way of puzzle games. You’ll quickly find it repetetive.

Pros:

Neat mechanic.

Looks and sounds good, which results in pretty great immersion.

Some very enjoyable puzzles.

Cons:

Movement can be awkward.

Once you figure it out, which may not take long - you will start to feel like you’re repeating the same puzzles.

Actual order/progression in difficulty of puzzles is not the best.

Real player with 16.2 hrs in game

The puzzles are very simple, only a couple required to think a bit more before the solution came up.

The VR experience is very buggy, after a couple of levels your character gets desynced with your headset even with little movement on your position making it so you lose the perception of where you actually are.

The character controls are also quite simple you can use the left stick (Oculus) to move forward and turn the character your forward is also determined by where you’re looking making it possible for you to ignore turns or take the wrong one when you decide to look at the next point while moving at the same time.

Silent Mansion : Part2

Silent Mansion : Part2

Hello, i have purchased this game for me and my wife. Have Valve Index and works great but i miss the option to save a game. The first day we completed the first stage and the second day we must to start from the scracth, no progress was saved so we had to start from the begining again…Perhaps i have missed the option to load a previous saved game?

Thanks in advance and keep on the good work!

Silent Mansion part 2 is a brilliant starter game for VR players who wish to have somewhat basic puzzle solving and light horror gameplay. Works well on Oculus Rift S. And if you have a friend who wish to get into VR, try this!

For -50% it’s a nice to have. I played the story in less than 2 hours. This included some glitching and solving bugs (like, dont drop the feathers in the toilet or just throw the amulet around the mansion entrance). The pre-boss fight in the not-so-spacious room was challenging, it took me longer to complete than the final boss fight.

Better find something more powerfull then your old shotgun cuz it is only the first location and first… Beast…

Anyway do not worry to much - there should be some stuff laying around, it had owner before but now I don’t think skeletons would mind you taking it.

And the most important, do not go out at night without a rifle or call a freind to carry one for you

There isn’t much here. A couple of puzzles with an extremely bland narration. It’s like a Speak and Spell talking you thru the whole thing. Definitely not worth the price. I don’t recommend this title at all.
