A Planet of Mine

A Planet of Mine

A cute time killer that its easy to get lost on for hours at a time. The random planet load outs and landing positions can make some planets practically impossible to win which can take a while to spot. Re-starting is fairly easy though.

Very enjoyable little game~

Takes a bit of learning but it’s very fun~ you can find some good info and tips with a quick google search that might help you get started.

I used to have it on mobile but I find it much more enjoyable on PC and it runs very well.

Lots of races (I believe 16) and different ways to play. Discovers and exploration. Planets are very unique and not all the same.

You can also destroy a rivals planet completely or be friendly and trade with them.

The gist is you start on a single planet and harvest resources and build different constructs. After a while you ascend (which you can do several times) and more technologies become available. Soon you will be colonizing multiple planets.

Star Traders: 4X Empires

Star Traders: 4X Empires

This game plays like many of the older TBS games, like Alpha Centauri, and its ilk. It has a vast tree of technology that progresses pretty intuitively, but the controls and gameplay itself is rather hard to master.

Once you figure out the basics and get an understanding of how the game progresses and works, It becomes easier to work through the game.

It essentially centers around colonizing planets that then become their own centers of production. Each planet has a “quality rating” that determines its potential for use. Lower quality planets will end up being burdens on your empire, while high quality planets will be the center for constructing your fleets and providing income.

4X Empires is exactly what I expected from developers like the Trese Brothers. Following the success from their previous titles Star Traders and Templar Assault, 4X Empires builds upon the lore of the Star Traders Universe by giving the player a completely new perspective on the deeply enriched story previously told.

This game is played in the perspective of the venerable Templars, protectorate of the bickering factions and guardians of the quadrant. As such, you are unable to directly control the factions and their politics, only what they build, what they research, and when. The politics system is a formidible beast, and truly gives the player the feeling that the Templars are not completely in control. It is this politics system that makes the game unique, and at times, infuriating. I have lost several games solely because the warring factions would rather fight amongst themselves than band together to fight the Xeno scourge.

Early access review to be updated at release.

I’ve spent around 70 hours playing this game until I reached the end of the current story missions (early access) with another 30 hours spent fallen asleep with the game open at various points throughout.

This is the best spacecraft combat game I have ever seen, period. And I’m kind of a fan of the genre. I’ve played the legendary Independence War: 2 Edge of Chaos with its amazing controls, story and combat. The equally revered and economically focused X3: Terran Conflict, its 1.5 style expansion Albion Prelude, and the good at piracy but nothing else X: Rebirth. I love the indie games like the arcady SPAZ/SPAZ2, Funny/Simple 3030 Deathwar, the very charming and intense submarine stealth style of Objects in Space, the small scale survival of the Evochron series, the stylish but shallow Rebel Galaxy and the very promising Starsector with its focus on fleet combat and even empire building. I conquered galaxies in the truly excellent Sword of the Stars and the be-the-space-pirate-bastards-that-bother-4X-players-in-their-early-game Distant Worlds: Universe, managed a space station and fleets in Halcyon 6, watched armadas annihilate eachother in Sins of a Solar Empire and carefully managed limited resources while running from an ancient enemy in Homeworld 1/2. Truly great experiences we are all very fortunate to have been able to enjoy and which shaped my expectations and standards for quality.

First and Only review to anything. So here is what the game is and about.

Void destroyers 2 is an Early Access, Indie, Strategy, Sci-fi Space Sim. Its always nice to start off with pretty much nothing and working your way up into something powerful or a fleet of something powerful. For Void destroyers 2, it does just that. To becoming something powerful you will be needing money, and reputation. Money is the big part, but reputation gives you access to buying bigger ships of different factions.

Do I recommend this game? Hell no.

There is no stability, there is very little realism, this game does most stuff very simplistically, the graphics are shitty, the combat system needs a MAJOR rework, essentially nothing has changed since the first iteration of this game came out.

Diplomacy needs an overhaul. Really? You have a game where debt is a huge factor but there’s no debt diplomacy? But you’ve released multiple versions and countless bug fixes and cant seem to add basic features like debt diplomacy? Thanks Eversim.

I will give you my insights of the first look while playing as Lithuania.

I like:

  • EU financial involvement in mostly everything

  • Debt tab changes

  • Vaccination priorities and contracts

  • Option for foreign exchange students

  • Option for scientific cooperation between countries on a specific discovery

  • Days of Culture to celebrate a foreign country traditions

  • 5G Internet

  • Organisations' data (population & GDP)

  • Cause of death tab

  • Map changes

I dislike:

  • No significant changes to migration system

X3: Terran Conflict

X3: Terran Conflict

Beware possible spoilers ahead for newbies

X3 Reunion had a good voice cast. The story was not good. The game engine is still beautiful. The hud and mouse speed can be a problem. X3 Terran Conflict and the add-on Albion Prelude are amazing. If I knew that x-rebirth would totally destroy the series by being completely horrible I should’ve just asked for a albion prelude 2 on this old engine. This is the end of the line for the series. Everything after albion prelude is considered a hallow lifeless body floating in space that is worshipped by shills. (I’ll exclude X4 from this. Since it’s pretty good after years of repair. So that just leaves X-Afterbirth.. Huh weeeirdddd)

My favourite game of all time. A space flight sim blended with a strategy game and trading/industry sim, with a truly functional open world that you can profoundly change.

There are three things that in my opinion set the X3 series miles ahead from most other similar games. First is the ability to buy more than one ship and construct your own stations. Some space-sims will let you destroy stations in the game universe but there aren’t many where you can build your own, making permanent changes to the game world and economy, Many space-privateer games let you choose a ship to fly, where some might be better for combat, or trading, faster or tougher etc. Not many games will let you buy several ships, hop in one and order the others around while you fly.

X3: Reunion

X3: Reunion

X3 Reunion is a game of monstrous proportions. Everything in it is vast and massive in a way that’s both exciting and daunting. It is relatively easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer scope of the game and the lack of any sort of proper guiding hand to teach you the basic will make many newcomers run for the hills. If you stick it out however you will find that underneath it all is one of the best open space games since the last game from the X series.

Reunion picks up where X2 left off and starts you as Julian Brennan once again. Your trade empire from the previous game destroyed by the Khaak you now have to resurrect it from the ashes, if that’s what you want. The story missions available are in true X style utterly forgettable and easily missable. They can even be disabled entirely by picking from one of several sandbox starts this time around.

Real player with 892.5 hrs in game

X3 Reunion is a great game, if you considering it by its own. A large living universe, dynamic economy, many ways of earning money suitable to all kinds of players and, of course, many ways to spend money. Make money by doing bonty hunting or capturing pirate ships! Want to whipe out the evil Xenon from the universe? Go buy a couple of destroyers (if you are wealthy enough) and kill them all. Take their sector for yourself, use patrol ships to eliminate their reinforcements! Not interested in fighting, more in the economic side of things? Start by discovering local opportunities in needed goods, then hire other merchants to trade for you. Set up a whole network of good-producing station to exploit the holes in the economy and dominate the market! And don’t forget to protect your properties by the evil pirates (or worse enemies).

Anno 2070™

Anno 2070™

Update: I will be leaving this review here for posterity, so none of us will forget what Ubisoft did. However, it appears as though an update that was released recently totally removed SolidShield from this game. Thank whoever the hell we need to thank that they actually listened. It only took them FIVE YEARS.

I have this game. I LOVE this game.

However, I cannot rate this positive at all.

UPlay may be a joke, but it is a sufferable joke. The real problem is much scarier than that.

Anno2070 is an economic game with Tier based progress system and basic elements of combat.

The game has decent Video, Music and Interface settings. At highest settings with “i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz”, “GeForce GTX 560 Ti” on 1920x1080 I have significant frame rate drop, but nothing unplayable. At just high settings it looks fine and works excellent.

You have key bindings for the most useful actions, but any nondefault settings are stored on server, which means you have to reconfigure them for each offline session.
