军团战棋Legion War

军团战棋Legion War

Just on the last weekend I played a big FFA the demo for 10.2 hours.

Then got the full game and played 2 1v1s for a combined other 5.5 hours!

It is rare that a game captivates me that much from the get go.

The AI is also quite competent already, which is part of what makes the game so fun to play. But I also see room for improvement there.

There’s some minor annoyances that could easily be improved like:

  • no hotkey for ending the turn

  • a lot of places where I first have to select something and then click a button instead of having double-click work there like with the hero-skill-tree, would be really nice if equiping items worked the same way

Legion War is a classic style turn-based conquer the world game with tons of options and depth to it. I’ve played nearly 75 hours and haven’t even touched the two campaigns currently included.

As of this review there are 5 playable factions with unique units, heroes, spells/abilities and mechanics as well as several minor factions that can be encountered in game and whose units can be recruited.

The game receives regular updates adding new and completely unexpected content, and development on the campaigns for other factions seems to be ongoing at a steady pace.

Burned Land

Burned Land

Burned Land is a niche game, and a little gem to me.

At first sight it might seem a little bit empty and obscure. Then it will seem very hard, even unfair. But if you push forward, you will discover a game with a very original approach, very rich and permissive in the ways you want to shape your kingdom and face the gods.

In this game, you not only build units and facilities, you will also “monitor” your population (literacy, devotion, nobility, sedentary, etc.), so they will provide you what you need and when you need it.

It is a pretty rough game, both in terms of UI and difficulty. The UI will hopefully get some polish from this one-man dev team, and perhaps the difficulty as well, but the difficulty certainly needs the polish a lot less. The dev is still pushing out regular updates, thus my recommendation for this Early Access game.

I made it to Turn 194, after narrowly dodging a very early game defeat. The early game near-defeat came about as my village almost starved due to a famine brought on by the gods. The entire point of this game is that the larger you grow, the more interest the gods have in stopping you from growing.

The Heroic Legend of Eagarlnia

The Heroic Legend of Eagarlnia

First off: I can’t believe that this game is priced under $19.99. It’s $12.99 — that’s simply unreal.

As a player who has never really played any grand strategy games before, The Heroic Legend of Eagarlnia has been a very surprising and enjoyable experience considering it’s an early access game developed by a dedicated team of four. If you had been watching/following this game for some time, you’ll know that Eagarlnia has gone through some rocky periods throughout the years, as the development team had been very silent about the game’s progress and status despite hosting it on Steam’s platform around late 2019. There were some hints here and there that the game would be localized to English, but there wasn’t any concrete information to go on for several months. Fortunately, the team would resurface to announce that the localization for English was well under way, and that the demo and early access release would arrive soon. If it wasn’t for their decision to localize, I most likely would’ve never stumbled across this gem of a game simply because of the language barrier.

If you’re a lover of oldschool strategy games of this kind then do not hesistate and acquire this title for yourself. The game features a truckload of detailed artwork (so many heroes…), beautiful music and enjoyable game mechanics. The weak part is definitely the translation but I think they are working on it. It’s functional but at times it can be difficult to understand the correct meaning of a skill (example: a skill says that it is good against fighters but there are no fighter units… the closest would be soldiers but it might also refer to warriors or spearmen).

It is a good game, however this game should come with a manual but for future reference, z to play x to shoot. you can’t use mouse to move but rather the up down left and right keys. It is not a must buy but if you are a pro mover then it’s a must buy game. It is hard to defeat but not impossible. This game doesn’t have any sexual content or nudity. A game just for fun.

Instantly the game reminded me the old SNES game, Raiden? But that game uses hex cells instead.

Simple in operation, a lot of units, honestly i loved it. Definitely gonna try all the factions.

Tho i wish the bullets during the animation can fly in unison or salvo manner rather than sequential fire, which took a lot of time. Just like the SNES game I’ve mentioned.

With box cells, the game operates just like the Super Robot War series.

There are two major unit category, mechs or warships. Or maybe Gundams or those Carriers, Space Cruisers whatever. Mechs usually could steer inside asteroid clusters and they gained evasion bonus for that. They hit 100% all the time but suffer with lower total HP pool. Also a team divided by 3 units, losing 1 of them losing 1 weapon to fight with. Tho if the enemy weapon could fire once, they benefited by no matter powerful it was, it will only took one unit with it. If it connects.

For full disclosure, I volunteered to review and correct the English text for this game. I’m listed in the credits for my assistance. I received a free copy of the game in advance of the release in order to have time to do this review. I also received some additional free keys. I also did a similar review for the previous game in the series, Chaos Sector. I purchased that game, but I did receive some free keys for the help I provided. Having contributed to the game’s content, I’m probably a bit emotionally invested into it.

So i’m here to dismiss all these pay 2 win and pay to play bs comments people keep making.

You’ll notice they all have 1 thing in common. and that’s around 5 hours game time and that’s it. There’s a monthly tournament that goes on and during the 3 week off season, that’s when its best to do your upgrades. the game wont be unplayable during that time because everyone does it. as for the pay 2 win, I’d also call that false. There’s heaps of ways to earn starbux, admittedly at a slower rate that if you buy them but you can’t get instant gratification for nothing! you can farm resources and just as easily buy said resources or items called ‘scratchies’ which many people will pay star bux for. During this time when there’s an influx of new players, they’ll all want to be playing non stop but thats not what this game is meant for till it’s tournament time. till then the game has a slower pace, which you should use to develope your ship crew and path moving forward as you progress.

This brilliant game combines elements of Starbound, FTL and browser-game features as in OGame. There are upgrading and harvesting times. It has crossplay/crossplatform multiplayer included!! You will notice up the “LOVE” which the Developers have used to make this game.

While it includes some Pay2Win options and stuff in-game, PSS is NOT really P2W at all, but more like Pay2Unlock faster. There are other real & massive P2W games out there like Tiberium Alliances and even OGame at a later stage, while PSS is for sure not and way more fun. Pixel Starships Developers claim to keep P2W elements as much as out of PSS as possible. Even in PvP, a non-P2W-player can beat enemy ships.
