Oh My Godheads

Oh My Godheads

I did not think that a game of this kind could please me, but the truth is that after testing it with colleagues in a friend’s house, saving the differences I think it is almost at the height of the Super Smash Bros, without losing sight of what is made by an INDIE study.

PROS

  • Flow of movements.

  • A thousand and one things that complicate the game (inverted controls, rain of swords, …)

  • A music of such quality for an INDIE product is appreciated.

CONS

  • It is missing a network multiplayer mode.

Capture the flag may be one of the oldest, most basic premises for a game ever, but it is a classic that can be easily reinvigorated with a fresh design and a few modifications. Oh My Godheads by developer Titutitech and publisher Square Enix Collective is a multiplayer combat game that is loosely based off of capture the flag, and it succeeds in keeping it engaging and fun by changing up the rules and impressing with its colorful, sharp style. With a few tweaks in gameplay, it has a bright future ahead.

I bought and played with bias because your trailer looked pretty cheap besides not giving any serious information about the game. Three friends just finished the game, my first impressions are:

1-The graphics are really nice. (1920x1080-medium)

2-The cinematic in the beginning is very good.

3-The sound got stuck in the final cinematic.

4-Artificial intelligence can be developed. (There were occasional hang-ups between my friend and me)

5-The stormy weather was nice.

6- The price is suitable for the game.

Mulligans Golf Game

Mulligans Golf Game

Mulligans Golf Game is a Local Multiplayer (split screen), wacky, arcade golfing game. Gameplay is a combination of open world freedom and old school console split screen arcade style play surrounding a simplified yet challenging golfing experience. It is not a Sim but is designed to provide the scenarios and emotions that come when playing real golf. Players choose from the available pool of legendary characters and pre-built maps, playing solo, attempting to set new personal bests, going for course records (local and global leaderboards), or grabbing some friends and challenging each other to see who is the best!

What is there to do?

Play local matches competing against yourself. Personal Records (per character) and Local Leaderboards (per map) are maintained. Global Steam leaderboards are also implemented so you can compete against others for the top spot!

Local Multiplayer has up to 4 players with Steam’s Remote Play enabled. So if you don’t have someone local to play against, invite a friend over the airwaves! Play matches against each other and make in game wagers on who is going to do better (long drives, closes to the pin, and best score). Also, checkout the driving range for a few different game modes and see who can get the better score. Or just run around throwing golf balls at one another.

Taking a Swing

As a player, you are given all the tools you need, but must make the decision on what kind of shot (normal, punch, flop, chip), how to shape it (fade, straight, draw), and how hard to hit it. The game will not tell you any more than recommending a club to use. So lineup and take a few practice swings to determine your plan of attack. Practice swings will update the estimated shot trajectory, allowing you to determine if your current approach is going to work. Then it is up to you to replicate your practice swing once addressing the ball. And if you mess it up, hopefully you have one of your Mulligans available to redo it.

Current features include:

  • Preset Legendary Characters

  • Pre-built maps

  • Stroke and Skin match play

  • Wagers

  • Driving Range and Practice Greens for improvement (map specific)

  • Local Leaderboards, Character PBs (per course), Global Steam Leaderboards.

  • In game Achievements

Blow up your friend’s tank before they blow up yours!

Anyone can pick up and play with simple controls: Just turn, shoot and move forward or backward. Tactics revolve around surprising your opponents, bouncing shots at them from around corners, and using the environment to your advantage while managing your ammo and health (both of which recharge gradually).

Play in free-for-all mode (everybody against everybody else) or team up with players and AI-controlled bots of the same color to beat the other teams.

Amazing Frog?

Amazing Frog?

Awesome game!

At first I was like, ‘What the hell, all you do is run around, fart and fall over’ but my daughter likes watching Pungeance on the tube, and I can’t really let her play GTA5, so we kept playing…

And wow! once you figure out how things work, learn about some unlocks and start two player (Controllers highly recommended, camera moves much better with them) the hours will fly by. Getting some unlocks feel like genuine achievements / lessons in perseverance, the LOL key and microscopes spring to mind.

We (my housemates and I) have played this game since it was on the OUYA, and missed it so much that we bought it on PC.

The Amazing Frog is a game about messing around, persistence, and discovery. If you wanted to go all literary-analysis on it, you could say that the ease with which you fall down and get back up again plays into the theme of persistence. But honestly I think the devs just thought it was funny.

The main gameplay loop is something like this. Mess around until you find something weird and new to interact with. Try lots of things with it until it unlocks something. With the new unlocks, rinse and repeat. This loop wasn’t really present in the OUYA version, and I think it’s an overall improvement that lengthens the appeal of the game and gives it an occasional magical quality. Don’t be expecting amazing discoveries though; we’re talking small stuff here. This game works best with no explanation and little to no expectations. It is exactly as dumb as it looks, with lots of fart humor and the occasional pop culture or current events reference. I think the unabashed silliness of it goes so dumb that it wraps back around to funny for us.

0.1 hrs, that’s right. But I’ve seen enough. This game is lacking in every aspect, from gameplay to graphics to controls. I took one look and ran -you should do the same… for now. If the devs do something quick and I decide to give it another shot, I’ll make sure to update this review.

Getting a game started up is far more difficult that it needs to be. The UI is terrible. The controls don’t work. What a shame as this looked right up my street, but the lack of any developer activity on the discussion boards just ONE day after their game released says it all really. Such a disappointment.

Sorry guys, it’s a no from me…

Zoological Era II

I don’t make reviews.

But this fucking game had me on the verge of depression and full melancholy at times and then smiling ear to ear, happy to realise how hopeful and humble life really is.

This game manages to make a masterful and deeply personal story about going through a downward spiral in your life, full of gut-wrenching sorrow and pain. While that’s an achievement on it’s own, I truly appreciate that this game also encapsulates finding light at the end of the tunnel, getting back on your own feet and finding hope in even the smallest victories.
