January 2019:

Love this game, but wish development would go a bit faster…

Edit December 2020:

Seems like they gave up on this game, no news in 18 months, shame :(

Not worth the €15 but still a fun game

I backed this game on Kickstarter and had access to the games beta before its full release and Inhave to say, this game is really fun. It’s a fantastic virtual board game of sorts that requires a lot of strategy and is incredibly competitive. There are multiple ways to play the game and earn victory points, allowing you to play the game how you want. The AI for this game are well programmed and are an adequate challenge if you’re playing by yourself or you can play this with friends and compete against each other. Overall it’s a very fun board game/party game and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

FORCED: Slightly Better Edition

FORCED: Slightly Better Edition

What separates a cheap gimmick from a solid game mechanic is that a gimmick gets used once and then gets boring or forgotten, whereas a game mechanic thrives in ever-evolving conditions, forcing the player to apply the same basic concept in different, creative and newly effective ways. In “Forced”, the unique mechanic is that you must call a little ball of light to your current position, leading it through environmental triggers that benefit you or progress your objective. While this is simple in theory, things get real messy real quick when you throw in countless enemies and your means to fight them.

FORCED is a Action Role-Playing Game heavily pushing a co-op experience.

STORY

I would say the weakest part of the game, other than some of the technical issues that some people still experience (see technical) - would be the story. It’s a very quick and short tale that leaves a lot to the imagination. I’m not saying it’s bad; simply shallow. If your goal is to find a rich story - you will not find it here.

ELEMENTS

All players have the option to play one of four classes which are determined in the entrance room to each trial room. It is also good to note that no matter the decision of the class; in most cases you will have healing spells, damage spells, and defensive spells of some kind. Other than the inherit differences between melee and ranged; the developers have done a good job at keeping most everything balanced. The true co-op experience comes into play before anyone even enters a trial; deciding who will have which spell to counter the trial mechanics. This is an element that most co-op games don’t have.

Thought i doesn’t have a lot of content at the moment it is a great game to play with the family. Thought this game is labeled as multiplayer(Online). You must have more than one controller and a person who’s willing to play, because if not this game is completely pointless to have. This is the game’s only downfall, I hope that in the future they will add AI players that you can compete against. Also that the moment there is a limited amount of content, but I’m sure it will be expanded upon in the future. I can’t wait to see what’s in store. Btw, by 9 year old niece endorses this game. :) For that I recommend this game for people who have siblings, or friends are are willing to play. When you do have people to play with, this game is a blast!

I don’t own the boardgame of this yet but a couple of my friends and I spent several hours playing last night and well play many more in the future. A charming game that is much deeper than its whimsical appearance may suggest with a lot of replayability despite the (at least currently) singular map.

I would love to see more expansions for it, especially the modular map, to come to the PC version and more races and powers means more options and crazy combos. Some of these combinations were laugh out loud funny (flying ghouls, peace-loving barbarians, etc.) so even more of these would enhance the game immensely.

TL;DR: It’s broken

You don’t have 165 hours in this, all single player. Nobody does. Why would you?

So here’s a review from a person who is deep in this game.

The boardgame is amazing, this is it.

Until a month ago, it worked great. It had a few glitches (Leprechauns would get slowdown issues while fast forwarding through their gold collection, etc.) that weren’t game breaking. Maybe every twentieth hour there’d be a game-breaking non-reproduceable bug that you’d never see again.

Not anymore. After purchasing the Royal Bonus DLC, I had 6 drops tonight. Reloaded, dropped from the game again. No error message, nothing. There’s a race that when selected… the game just stopped. Twice for me, tonight. Crazy.

Legend of Dungeon

Legend of Dungeon

Not Quite Legendary

Legend of Dungeon = Roguelite-lite + Commodore 64 + Rainbow Vomit

This game reminds me of action games back on the ol' Commodore 64. I make this reference even though I know it will plainly sail straight over the heads of most of you youngsters, making me feel like the aging and increasingly irrelevant gaming hipster that I am. sigh

Uh, anyway. The premise of this game is very Rogue. IE - Journey to the bottom of the randomly generated dungeon to collect the frazzledazzled THING and return for ultimate glory. Unlike Rogue, it is very light on the RPG mechanics. You collect glowing experience orbs from fallen enemies and gain levels which translates into direct health and damage increases. There is no stat or skill management whatsoever.

Legend of Dungeon is a permadeath roguelike dungeon-crawler game. Every time you play, it is a different dungeon. It is never the same dungeon unless you input the same seed. The objective of this game, you need to navigate your way down to level 26 to grab a treasure and bring it back to level 0 to complete the game. You will come across a variety of monster mobs and 7 different bosses to kill. Once you grab a treasure at level 26, heading back to level 0, you’ll find difficult mobs existing at all levels. This is identical to Impossible mode except it is not that way at start. The difficulty of this game is relatively easy (considering my guide) but there is Impossible mode where you’ll deal with potential powerful monster mobs right away starting Level 1 instead of deep in the dungeon.

HARDCORE MECHA

HARDCORE MECHA

I adore this game. I grew up playing Metal Warriors and Assault Suits Valken with my older brother, and have had a soft spot for the 2d mecha platformer genre ever since as a result. The asking price is reasonable for the single player content alone, in that it rivals Valken, Leynos, Gunhound etc, and may possibly be my favorite thus.

There are some hidden weapons blueprints in the levels, and sidequest type achievements to bring completionists back for a second playthrough. I was at first worried a bit by the lack of difficulty settings, but the game provides an adequate challenge and feeling of badassery on the first run worthy of its spiritual predecessors. You’ll be OP in the earlier stages of a second run by retaining your end game stats/equipment, but more significantly by having mastered the skills necessary to beat the game at all..

Time for a review after finishing the game! I do a Single and Multi Part. Not too long though. Oh and how it feels.

People who say it feels clunky and such. They just can’t handle high mobility games. Hardcore Mecha gives you a lot of movement options which can be used to dodge or go in close for melee attacks. It feels fluid to me and a great experience controlling the Thunderbolt S. The rest comes in the Multi part.

Single Mode:

The Story is the usual Mecha? Not really when thought about it. There is the usual Fight against the other Organization but you belong to a team of Mercenarys. Which already changes a lot. You only do your Mission and help others if you want to. Or want them Credits… The Bosses are great even if sometimes underwhemling… Like the Final Boss. Should have been way more space and fighting room. And kinda anti-climatic. But still fun to fight! Like against the Crimson Flame which is difficult for a first timer for sure. It’s Melee focus and speed. The rest of the Single mode, when Arcade and such is missing for now. Is still a great experience. I still didn’t find every blueprint either! Gotta get to that. Everthing else. Great. Enemies are never cheaply placed. Even if it feels like that at once. They are never.
