The Cherry Orchard

The Cherry Orchard

A beautiful, uniquely styled 3D kinetic novel, imbued with love and respect for Chekhov’s original material. The script adaptation is superb, the voice acting is top notch, and the attention to details, such as facial and hand expressions, graphical effects, and accessibility features, are a masterclass in literary/dramatic game design. I’ve played it through many times in testing, a couple more times since release and, while the game is linear, I’ll be coming back to it many more times to attempt to fully absorb the depth of detail and meaning. Theatre students take note, this could be a valuable study resource.

The Cherry Orchard is the MOST visual novel, literally a CG adaptation of the Russian play of the same name. There’s a pseudo-cyberpunk element to it, however, with vaporwave and techno visual effects that accentuate some of the story’s subtext. It’s a little jarring how the lip synch doesn’t really match (but maybe that’s my slow computer not able to handle it), and there are a handful of small glitches that don’t affect the gameplay, like the hovertext in the settings sometimes flickers, but overall it’s interesting to watch.

I play the game thinking it will be similar to When the Darkness Comes. As far as I know, this game is the size of one snippet of Sirhaian’s game, with a pricetag.

The controls are janky, no music or sounds can be heard, and the game can be completed in 15 minutes.

Because it isn’t too profound, I don’t think it’s worth the price.

…Nice design though.

I enjoyed the game. It has nice graphics and music. The story is interesting and gets better as you keep reading. It has a heartwarming ending. It’s a nice game, about 1.4 hours long but I read pretty quickly. I would buy it especially on sale. It’s a fun, short game. I like the characters especially the main character. It was very peaceful.

Oniria Crimes

Oniria Crimes

Oniria Crimes is a strange and interesting game from Ckolmos, a small studio from Madrid, Spain. If you aren’t too fussed about expecting a meaty main story, there is plenty of vibrant voxel art and deep lore to make this game worth playing.

This game is set in Oniria, city of dreams, a sort of shared-consciousness virtual reality world inhabited by people in their sleep. There is plenty of talk about “awake-world” in the game, but we never see it; the full game is spent exploring this dreamy urban environment. The lore of Oniria runs very deep, and a big part of the game is figuring out just what this world is, how it works, and what makes it tick.

A really good game with a very interesting background that makes you use your brain.

Totally recommended and if possible I recommend to play it with a partner, it’s a lot of fun to be both trying to solve the case and getting our own theories out !

I love the AA Franchise, and this port is well done and nice to be played on chill moments. Would have liked more languages (like Italian), but the English localization is very well done and immersive. Wish there will be other ports, and am looking for some new games! Please Capcom 3

Couldn’t recommend this more if I tried, I went through these two games more quickly than Barok van Zieks could slam his leg on the table.

Great setting, very memorable characters and soundtrack, and a lot of new gameplay elements that were so much fun to go through.

The two games feel very well connected and bring up very interesting points about the judicial system in its setting, as well as cultural aspects.

I’d also like to praise the writing and the pacing of the story and character development (and there is a lot of development, trust me), the story combines a good mixture of comic relief and more serious and intense moments, much like what we were already used to in previous Ace Attorney games.

The House Before

The House Before

You wake up as a house.

Your limbs stretch through endless rooms filled with grotesque creatures. You can never see outside of yourself, never feel the world that lies beyond the fleshy walls of your body.

You manage your insides as best as you can, but you wonder : are you a good house or just a pale afterthought of the House Before ?

–—————

The House Before is a blend between a visual novel and an adventure game with some dungeon crawler and 3d platformer elements.

The game is mostly a narrative experience with light puzzles.

Explore your guts.

Heal old wounds.

Be a good house.

Remember who you used to be.

Raise your children.

Procreate.

Be better than the House Before.

Wonder Cave

Wonder Cave

Nice idea but a bit laggy/buggy. First time we opened it, we couldn’t even open a game. Second time, we heard none of Jafar’s opening dialogue. Few other times it felt laggy. Also, we accidentally closed the game after hitting Exit on accidentally hitting Menu - our fault, but the lack of “ARE YOU SURE” box wasn’t cool.

Puzzle wise - rotate everything, look everywhere. I’d have preferred more puzzles around clues.

Awesome game! I played it with my brother and indeed it was not easy!

If you like playing quests, this is definitely for you! I found it really entertaining when you’re playing with somebody rather then alone! It’s very challenging and exciting! Highly recommended!

GOAT 2020-2021-2022. Raool shot a kid.

On a serious note, this game is an absolute disaster and I’d bet money you’re not gonna get past chapter 1 without having to go back and grab things you have no idea how to. This is a disaster artist level game, and has made me laugh harder than it ever was. I am probably the only person who has ever played this.

Dev, if you’re reading this. Thank you, I’ve died laughing. Next time, consider making a Gmod map or something instead of a 6 euro game. Although, considering the quality, I presume you’re like…12 and for that, this is an impressive accomplishment. I hope you had fun making it.

This game is a visual novel with style, the game is creepy in it’s self, but it also leaves you wanting more of that creepiness it provides with it’s story and environment it uses both very well, and the ending will shock you pleasantly.

Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers

This is a visual novel VR that is mostly novel. In other words, you’ll be mostly reading text from a sketchbook (3D model). The text is easy to read. Most of the book has been translated well into English. However, I would estimate maybe 5 percent of the story was lost in translation or you need to know more about Japanese culture to understand exactly what was intended.
