Rolling Cube

Rolling Cube

This is a real good game with simple rules. Supports both English and Chinese. The developers try really hard exploring the field which is really awesome. Hope they could keep their work and continue making awesome games!

The tutorial levels had me intrigued, but the subsequent levels made it clear to me that this game is clearly lacking a lot of development and should still be in beta.

  • Core mechanics are fine, but at times can lack polish

  • Jumping is broken, and the window for jumping is so small that the last chance jump mechanic is actually a safer bet most of the time as it brings you closer to the next platform and widens the window if you have quick enough reflexes.

  • The walkable platforms are a mostly useless mechanic as the only real way to use them is to just keep running.

Synthrun is a Unity Asset Flip style 3D platformer, it looks like the developer copy+pasted a game template/tutorial for a basic 3D platformer, changed a couple of things and dumped this mess on Steam as a cash grab. That theory is supported by the way game keys were sold off to cheap, low quality bundlemongers, DailyIndieGame.

Anyway, this is pretty bad, clunky controls, bad camera angles, and some of the laziest minimalist graphics I’ve seen for a long time. This is very, very far from acceptable standards for a modern PC game.

“Making happy memories with cat ears girl! ヽ(=´▽'=)ノ”

[1] Intro

Giraffe and Annika. This is a 3D rhythm puzzle adventure by atelier mimina. At the time of the first announcement, the publisher was UNTIES, but it appears that the publisher was later changed to PLAYISM. The background of this game is about Anika, the girl with cat ears. One day, she woke up and found herself on the mysterious starlight island(Spica). What adventure is waiting for her?

It’s okay for a game about drowning. I died probably a thousand times playing through the story, and can remember almost every individual instance that didn’t involve drowning in shallow water because I couldn’t find an object or surface to climb onto. Most of the non-drowning deaths were memorable in how brutal they were as game concepts, like being immolated when straying too close to insta-kill volumes like fire or crushed to death by falling boulders. So…definitely not a kids game?

In fact, I really grapple with the question of who I would recommend this game to. Not to kids, it’s too difficult. Not to srs gamerz, it isn’t difficult enough. Not to rhythm gamers because there isn’t enough of that content. Not to adventure gamers because there are no requisite adventure features like quest logs, maps, or a compass. Not to achievement hunters because the achievements are actual (“beat the game within 4.5 hours”) burning (“cleared every hard rhythm game on S rank”) garbage (wait until Dec. 24 or 25 for a Christmas achievement!). There’s also no combat, which is a plus for me, but… not being able to fight back isn’t fun either?

Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame - Act I & Act II

Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame - Act I & Act II

Done with this game. I gave it enough chances and redid enough parts/wasted enough time because of poor level design, bugs, and amateur game design. First off, visuals are solid. Rock opera for a videogame is an interesting idea. Some parts work, and others don’t because they will sing too long of lines that don’t rhyme or flow, and its like trying to turn a paragraph into a song. The singing comes out longwinded and lacks flow in areas, and seems like just talking. Also some parts they do scremo low voice incoherent sounds and count it as singing. The story is incoherent and doesn’t really make sense, and singing random setences that make up the dialogue doesn’t help much.

Dive into the 4 Worlds of Karmaflow and be prepared for an amazing journey! While the gameplay itself is simple, the artwork, music and it’s story are worth checking out alone. A lot of love was put into this game, and a lot of great artists participated in this too, mostly Metal musicians. I particularly liked the way story was told, just using music. Music is the main focus in the game (obviously), and it’s executed very well, with tons of great Symphonic Metal tunes, although it may feel like the lyrics could be better at times, but the main composer was Dutch so I can see the difficulty in composing in another language.

Elliot and the Musical Journey

Elliot and the Musical Journey

the controls felt buggy, most of the game play felt boring, the last boss was annoying but got there in the end with 1 heart remaining, double jumps felt like it didn’t work most of the time, wouldn’t recommend re-playing that again.

I am on the fence with this game. I will outline my points.

Pros:

  • Has original art

  • Quite easy controls

  • Lovely music

  • Easy to learn game loop

Cons:

  • Jump (or double jump) not always get recognized which is quite annoying

  • DJBonehad boss is easy but the lasers spot you even from outside the light

  • when you lose all hearts you need to restart the level

  • you can’t record the musical notes order (not big deal) but is inconvenient

Overall is a nice FREE indie game that you will enjoy if you are into platformers

It is pretty fun. Very original never seen before VR mechanics.

It reminds me of a slower more technical Trackmania type of game with less tracks.

You will probably need a strong stomach

Five Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is an Amazing racer and platformer combined together creating a most unique VR experience! It feels as though you’re driving a mini hovercraft and you need to develop the feel for the drift.

On some parts of the track It’s like riding a bar of soap on a wet floor and on other parts it’s like flying a zeppelin or a space ship. It can also feel like riding a robotic donkey jumping over gaps in the platforms.

If you love driving and are able to imagine a unique combination of a racing and platformer game then just buy it, LOADS OF FUN! ( and worth the price in my opinion).

Rhythm Rush!

Rhythm Rush!

I love rhythm based gameplay, but this is not rhythmic at all, it’s a shitty janky rail shooter!

The movement left to right is smooth enough

Jumping while moving straight is smooth enough

The wall hugging/jumping is totally fucked

The shooting is totally fucked, I thought it was being caused by some mouse gesture software I usually use, but nope, just the game. You can shoot once fine, usually, but to shoot multiple times it says to hold the button down, and then you just get a completely random rate of fire, if it repeats at all.

what starts just as another runner game appears to have much more deeper concept behind:

so first about the game - you run avoiding bigger obstacles and shooting lighter obstacles, this is already enough for the game, and there are a lot of similar games in steam, but:

first - wall jumps. this is already a thing that is not usual for most runner games.

second: different visual modes. developer could definitely make 6 different games with these different modes, but he made one, with all in one.

third: difficulties - its not that often met in quite simple ranner games.

Jet Set Radio

Jet Set Radio

Have you ever wanted to be a rollar-blading punk, rollin' around the city tagging walls, and stickin' it to the man?

No? Maaaan fuck you get out of here yes you have. This game is known far across the land for it’s kickin' soundtrack, beats so thick you could bounce a coin off ‘em. Also, it’s so old GBA could run it, so don’t sweat the specs. Only worry is the keyboard controls suck harder than your EX girlfriend, so grab an Xbox 360 controller and get going.

Now the objective of the game is simple, roll around the city, tag some walls, and keep away from the fuzz. However, this is all done to the sweet sonic sound that will be oozing out of the audio device of your choosing. It also helps that this game has graphically dated better than you could ever dream of. (Oh snap son.) You might get one Jet rank on your first playthrough. Might. If you wanna get Jet on every mission you must first study the anicent urban staking gurus.

“Who are you! What’s your name? Super Brothers!”

Jet Set Radio is one of those games you most likely saw a demo of at a Target or Best Buy back in the early 2000s but never really got to play because you were too cool for a Dreamcast. Luckily, this PC port exists. This game is the perfect mix of skating and graffiti with a soundtrack to match and graphics that are considerably better than those of today’s games. The added danger of being tackled by street guards, being shot at by a crazed police captain, having missiles fired from helicopters, and run over by motorcycle riding police makes it more fun
