ChronoTecture: The Eprologue

ChronoTecture Game Studio presents an indie video game created by an architectural designer.

After losing his cat Mobiius to lifelong illness, a father sees him again in a brief Dream. The father then designs and builds a device called The DreamCatcher, which allows him to induce a Lucid Dream at will. When the father finally sees Mobiius again in the Dream World, the DreamCatcher glitches and the father experiences sleep paralysis, trapping him in the Dream World against his will. The only way forward for the father is as a guide for Mobiius as he goes through his Final Dream.

The Plane Effect

The Plane Effect

I loved this game for a great many reasons and I hope you will too!

At its core “The Plane Effect” is a mystery puzzle game that unfolds as you meander through a dreamlike state, which often borders on the surreal and even nightmarish. One should note that this tale is depicted with an amazing artistry that stands unique even among the countless other “artistic indie games” out there, enacting a style that does not act simply as window-dressing but contributes to the experience on a fundamental level. Unlike many games it does not feel as if an artist was just asked to throw some pretty graphics on top of a game but rather that the art was always a core consideration when each of levels were designed.

The game is superb, it takes you in a world with an exclusive atmosphere. It’s peculiar and strange. The aim of the game is making you feel lonely and disoriented. It gets his objective completely. If you feel too much alone you can opt to use the GUIDED feature that helps you to overcome every kind of difficulty you may face. The puzzles are ok, the sound controls are missing.

Fumiko!

Fumiko!

As far as platfromers go this one is quite unique and extraordinary. First off its 3D, usually we have 2D pixel platformers, but with Fumiko we have a beautiful but abstract environment.

The game looks and feels great, it handles pretty well and every minute spent ingame is a joyous one, this game really is a unique platformer well worthy of it’s price tag.

The backstory or actual story of the game is rather complex and as you play it it starts to make sense to you, first off you play as a Female A.I who doesn’t know who she is where she is or what her purpose is, and that is where a fun feature comes in, something not always present with platformer, exploration; To put it simple it’s pure fun and entertaining. our region is some form of virtual security network mainframe that we get to explore, a lot of detail and creativity went into creating the perfect atmosphere really going the extra mile to present us with a form of authentic of what it would be like to explore a system in such a sense. The music really adds to every function of the game, enhancing it and setting a tone that really just soothes you into the game.

Where to start? The art. The aesthetic. Fumiko! is at once a simplicity and a pleasure to behold. Its low-poly style conveys exactly as much as it needs to, and its vibrant colors illuminate the world in a beautiful and satisfying way.

Meanwhile, the music is always on point to convey a great sense of atmosphere. Are things chill? Got it. Panicked? Also got it. Focused? Warm? Somber? Check, check, check.

The story is revealed in bits and pieces, sometimes through collectibles called memory fragments, other times through dialogue, sometimes simply through the aesthetic of each world. It is chilling, disturbing, familiar. It conveys grand and simple ideas in their turn. It asks the hard questions. It presses us about identity, artificiality, alienation, will, and many others.

short and somewhat unfair challenging platformer, i wasn’t on board with every aspect of the game at first but i’m glad i gave it a chance and it definitely grew on me. I recommend it if you enjoy your games with a pinch of salt.

It’s good to see such a challenging platformer without overdoing it, plus the speedrunning potential is massive. It’s going to be interesting to see some speedrun strats. Overall pretty solid game 10/10.

Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst

One of the main reasons why I finally laid my hands on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst only in the end of 2021 is that I laid my dick (metaphorically, of course) on the first rule of the multimedia consumer: never trust other’s opinion. There were so much hate, so many complaints about this game—and while I still love the original Mirror’s Edge, I thought Catalyst was not worth my attention, since so many people said it was a total crap. Besides, there’re always many other games, so I can’t say I was bored or have been missing Faith so much. But finally I bought Catalyst, mostly thanks to many ASMR videos on YouTube with amazing views and sound ambience from the game. And you know, I’m not dissappointed. Not a bit. Certainly, I understand that a pure parkour game can be not very satisfying, especially a year after Dying Light came out. But Mirror’s Edge never was a complex multi-aspect game—it was always a stylish speed running entertainment with an amazing audiovisual component. It’s simple by its nature, and that’s really good, when you just want to switch your brain off and relax, while getting aesthetical enjoyment.
