Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta - Episode 1 - Gold Edition
TL:DNR: A noble, but much flawed effort. Buy it very cheap ( us$1), or="" for="" the="" achievement="" 100%="" ( us$1.50) br="" Okay - so this is one of those games that the “comedians” of Steam just go on about either with brutal comments about it giving them cancer, or racist/sectist crap, or they do the lame sarcasm.
This isn’t one of those.
What I like about this game, is their intent. To make a Arabic/Northern African themed game of adventure and discovery. I like the characters most of the time, and would really like to see more games coming from Arab countries make it into the mainstream (Semaphore is a Saudi game studio), as I am intrigued to hear their cultural voice applied to gaming. The graphics are generally pretty good, though the ATV escape ‘chapter’ had some odd graphics quality, I think to mimic a sandstorm, but looked like a bug. The brother and sister team is a great idea too. /us$1),

“Oh look guys, it’s Timothy writing a review for that one game everyone on youtube makes fun of! I can’t wait until he tears it a new arsehole, because he’s a cynical bastard and that’s what cynical people do!”
If this was your reaction when you noticed this review, then I’m sorry to tell you that I will not write a funny 9/11 Allahu Akbar type of review. I respect the dev team, who put a lot of work and effort in this game, too much for that. Well yeah, this game is inspired by Uncharted, Tomb Raider, what not, they won’t deny that. But at least they are enthusiastic about it. What’s the last time you saw people this happy about making a game? Even if the game is buggy (and oh, trust me, it is, I’ll elaborate) I still had fun playing it simply because I know the devs had fun making it. They really want to make an amazing adventure series where you explore the arabic world and its many fascinating places (which it truly has, no doubt about that). The dev team knows that they’re not making GOTYAY material and doesn’t say they are. They try to stay positive while everyone on the internet’s too busy making fun of them and their “worst game ever” (a title that many other games I’ve played deserve more). They respond nicely to often assholish or ‘funny’ behaviour and criticism, which I think is something most developers can learn from. So yeah, kuddos for that, guys.

Find Yourself
I’m not quite sure if I enjoyed this game but I definitely don’t think I disliked it. I played Locked Up before playing this game and the dev does show some progression but the same basic premise is used in both games. Walk around and/or interact with certain items to trigger the next event. The biggest plus is that this game has a running option! So, it makes the game feel a lot less sluggish than Locked Up. There was a part where you were actively chased, which I thought seemed a bit unnecessary and out of place. However, it did add in a bit of a different kind of suspense, but I didn’t really like it. Unlike Locked Up, the main character can die which I did enjoy.

EMIKA_GAMES is definitely a horror up-and-comer! Their first being Locked Up (LU) a bold haunted house starter. But one which I concluded was undone by its story and the overbearing, ravaging sound effects instead of the much-needed subtler silence to give a healthy mix. I had no notion this 2nd title Find Yourself (FY) was even in production, because I thought their 3rd From Day to Day in development now was going to be it!

Beside Myself
Played on Linux using Proton-GE as it has video files, This game seems to be some bought source code as i’ve seen this same UT Engine horror game a fair few times now (inventory, Camera, lighter, etc), and also bought Assets as i’ve seen everything else (Textures, 3D Objects, etc) before on other Horror Games.
Graphics are okay (assets), Sound is okay, Gameplay as most horror Games without running from Monsters, Just wonder about clicking on whatever you can and reading whatever you can and taking photos when you see a cross mark.

I want to say I for the most part understand that effort and payout go hand in hand. Yes, its a good foot forward for whatever else you publish on steam but like your friend Emika the first game is most certainly not a great piece of work. There are a lot of elements that I’ve seen him revaulate in the progression of his three ips, timing of scares, ability to implement types of scares, creation of mood and tying it to the fluency of the story’s progression. And recently playing his first and most recent game I can see that your currently at the step he was at when he first released Find Yourself, getting a better grasp on that pacing and experimenting on what you can and can’t implement mechanic wise and element wise into your games. I’m interested to see if you too will show improvement like he did with Summer of 58' (although its not a perfect) but for now I wouldn’t even say that this is a project I’d pay for if I knew what I do now. Nevertheless keep it up and don’t get discouraged if you enjoy making games.

The only way forward for the father is as a guide for Mobiius as he goes through his Final Dream.
Data Dream
Very fun puzzle/strategy and movement game. Unique way of moving and navigating makes gameplay entertaining and interesting. Lots of color and detail in the environments and levels, truly makes you feel like you are in some sort of digital world. Reminds me a lot of Legend of Zelda games…
I really enjoyed how the game characters were components of a computer, and all the small little details connect the game to the computer you are playing it on!
The artistry done on characters and bosses is beautiful, unique, and even eerie at some points. You can tell the developer put in a lot of time creating their own little world with all original concepts and characters. Looks great! Plays great! Very fun for busy people who can jump in and out of the game whenever they have time.

HUMANS CONNECT
HUMANS CONNECT
The story is focused on the humans bloodline to the mythologies that
existed 1000 years ago. An experiment occurred in the modern times where
Humans would gain supernatural powers because of their connections to those
mythologies that existed. Julia’s journey is to discover the creator of this
experiment and the origins of those mythologies, however she is confronted by
Anubis like character “Inpu The Jackal”.
In the game the player can choose to play one of the two characters and play
the same story mode but in different time and order. Each character has his own perspectives and goals
in the same story.
In Julia’s story, the player has to rely on engagement to progress with the story.
While the Nightwolf’s story rely on exploration and stealth to progress with the story.
Both characters shares a common enemy which is “Inpu The Jackal”, he currently has
an unknown background and its up to the player to discover who he is and what is his
true objective. Are you up for the challenge?!
The Game’s main idea is to let the player feel like he is engaging, feeling and
relating to the characters not just playing them. Engage, Explore, CONNECT
and mostly… have FUN!

Ginkgo
Alright, so I’ve played this game a fair bit, especially since I’ve found out that you could speedrun it (personal best is 3:12, but record is 3:08, held by my friend).
Summary: For a demo, it’s really solid. If you play the game properly, it should work as intended and you’ll have a smooth gameplay experience. There’s some bugs here and there that would cause your game to crash, but it’s few and far between.
Story: 8/10
The premise is really interesting. In my playthrough, I located all secret rooms and read all the dialogue possible for the full experience. The only reason it isn’t any higher was I definitely wished there was more, but it is just a demo.

Ginkgo is a game made by a group of talented students under the University of Southern California (USC) Games Program! Now I’ve yet to review anything made by anyone still in school before- I guess technically everyone was a student at some point in their lives. Anyways, it’s just such a weird feeling for me, but good! Though it’s labelled an early access title, I’d say it’s more accurate to be termed as a demo! I really hope this project does come to fruition~ However, for now how does this game do!? Oh the SHEAR anticipation! XD

Gameplay / Story
On the famous Zócalo Square in Mexico City, on the very edge, next to the ruins of the sacred Aztec pyramid Templo Mayor, scientists discovered the remains of a strange creature. The animal - a dog? a wolf? - lay in a two and a half meter deep shaft for 500 years. It probably didn’t have a name or an owner. But this animal must have meant a lot to someone: it wore a collar made of jade beads, turquoise studs on its ears and gold bracelets.
