At its core Elli is a puzzle game that is dressed in platforming. I very much enjoyed playing it all the way through the end which took me a little over 6.5 hours..

The puzzles in the beginning are pretty simple and there is next to no real platforming. But the further you progress into the story the more complex the puzzles get. Towards the end some puzzles span over multiple rooms which made it just the right amount of challenging for me. Yet the platforming difficulty, with a handful of exceptions, is only raised to a moderately challenging level throughout the game which I particularly liked because that way the platforming never really got into the way of solving the puzzles.

I recommend it. Peaceful music, hair pulling situations. There’s only 5 levels (with an extra 6th hardcore one)

Very frustrating yet so addicting. Despite how annoying it can get, it makes you keep getting back up to try to get further than before. xD Finally clearing a stage feels so good!

Before buying, I did not expect it to be this difficult as it looked like a short simple game. Boy was I wrong… You start with a fairly easy stage, and then you get hit with stage 2. Which was difficult at the time but after I cleared it and went to stage 4, stage 2 became a piece of cake.

To clear all the stages, it will probably take several hours tbh. I may not even be able to clear the last stage, seeing how I could not even get past the first portion. Going to take a lot of practice for sure which makes me feel excited and not at the same time lol.

Sonic Forces

Sonic Forces

This is a game that SEGA spent a lot of time hyping up, and does it live up to their hype? Not even close.

I’ll start with the positives: the game CAN be fun and it does have a few cool stages.

Now we get into the negatives.

Control: All the characters either feel really floaty or really stiff in terms of controls, and this is mostly evident in 2D sections. Often I found myself either overshooting a jump when I jumped from quite a distance away and several instances of bad braking which would send me down to a lower path or to my death. This happened a lot with Classic Sonic and the Avatar specifically, who had 2D sections more often than Modern Sonic did.

Where do I even begin?

In short: 5.5/10, just bland game.

Please read with an open mind :)

First, the Positives:

1. Music

Sure, Fist Bump (the main theme) can get a little repetitive, but the overall music was great, most of them compliments the level they were in, and the boss battle themes are spot on. Was kinda hoping Modern Sonic’s stages music would put more emphasis on the guitars & rock genre feel, or orchestra like in Unleashed. Most of them are EDM inspired (for me anyway), I don’t enjoy them as much as previous games' music, still great though.

Speebot

Speebot

A very colorful 3d platformer that tests your 3d platforming skills to its core. The game runs smoothly and controls are well done. Liked all the little details put in game like the sharks circling in the water, the flying seaguls, platforms movement trails, flying baloons and NPC animations. The game is well suited for speed runs.

As the player progresses through the levels new game mechanics are added like gliding with umbrellas, swinging and jumping using the poles. The level design provides different kind of difficulties to match the newly introduced game mechanics.

Fun simple platformer with a lot of movement options in later levels, well designed levels, and a lot of content.

Especially great for playing one or two levels during a break.

Super Sami Roll

Super Sami Roll

Super Slam Spammin' Sami

I’ve got so much to say about this little guy

The PROS (why you should buy Sami):

Sami is fast

Sami has physics

Sami is a very cute game with great designs

Sami unlocks hats, skins, and other fun customizations

! There’s other playable characters?

! … I can’t tell you that it’s a secret…

Sami plays kinda like Monkey Ball but with a interesting wall attach/wall jump mechanic. Sami’s slam move and other subtle mechanics take the deceptively simple gameplay and raise the skill ceiling for speedrunning immensely, giving plenty of opportunities for top level runners and other epic gamers to bring their times on levels insanely low with shortcuts that range from easy to mind-numbingly precise.

Takes inspiration from the best and doesn’t hide it, amazing love letter to 3D platformer, movement feels tight and responsive and it’s a joy to move around. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel but the tongue jump mechanic feels different enough from other platformers and feels very good to use, and the game showcases all around great level design and understanding of what makes the genre fun.

Just the right amount of simple and intuitive controls with increasingly complex level design that really tests your skills, the game starts out slow but the later levels get quite challenging which is very welcome in a genre that tends to be on the easier side. If you love 3d mario games but always get left wanting more in terms of challenge, this is the game for you.

BSurfing

Pretty good game, fun mechanics, but the only thing I miss is more content. At this stage in this game’s development, the game lacks the amount of content that is necessary to keep the player engaged for more than a few days. But still pretty fun, especially for a game in this stage of development.

QV

QV

I just beat QV in both normal and hard mode and here’s my thoughts. QV is a really cool puzzle game with cute graphics and fun puzzle pieces. The game overall is fun, relaxing, and quite lengthy (I played through both normal and hard mode in my first playthrough). Throughout the game, you are given levels that introduce a new puzzle piece, the next level would test your understanding of the new puzzle piece, and another one that will challenge you (

! one puzzle piece I really liked were the penguins, requiring the player to be stealthy and cautious around them). Replayability in this game is good, there’s easy, normal, hard, and QV modes for each level, keeping puzzle enthusiasts entertained longer than they anticipate. Achievement hunters will like this game too.

Very cute and lots of fun!

Firstly, I want to state that I played this with a controller, and it was a lot easier than a keyboard, so keep that in mind before you buy.

I really enjoyed playing this game, and even after I finished I felt like I’d happily play it all over again.

Don’t let the cute art style fool you, this game can be quite challenging to figure out at times, particularly on the harder levels. I personally really liked that. If you like the game play and figuring out all the puzzles, I would recommend playing the levels on ALL difficulties. Many of the levels can seem quite different when you do so!

Overview

Youropa is a 3D puzzle game where you must defy the laws of gravity to reach your goal. Walking on walls, upside down, on your side, at ridiculous heights, will have your senses mixed up and confused. On a few occasions I had to stop playing the game because I felt a bit sick. The game really portrays a sense of height as you walk around on ledges and walls looking down at the scenery below.

Second Update

I’d like to keep the original review in tact so future viewers can see the full context and timeline of the events that took place. To summarize, the developer saw my review and responded with patches much faster than I would have ever expected. In the comments I called the response unprecedented, and I’ll echo that here.

When I review a game I’m never going in to that with the hope of punishing the dev or game. In my opinion, the absolute best outcome one could hope for is for them to care and respond positively to criticism which happened here.

MilMo

MilMo

I’ve played MilMo for many years, and I’ve always loved how bright and friendly the game is. It has characteristics and interesting details that never fail to make me smile.

The game runs really smoothly, with very immersive background music in all areas. The storylines that you can complete through questing are very in-depth and you’re always wondering what’s going to happen next in terms of the lore. My personal favourite is the Mice & Maniax adventure with the Mouse Resistance fighting against the Mad Scientist. Despite the fact that I think that storyline is not complete yet, it’s still a great one to play.
