Override 2: Super Mech League

Override 2: Super Mech League

Completely different game from the first.

the first game was like a test run not bad but needed more time to mature through the likes of a sequel and then we get override 2 a different game from the first in too many ways and just like the first it feels like it is a test run that needed more work before release both games are like tech demos… they are playable no bugs or glitches from what i can tell graphics are good (better in the first game) gameplay can be fun at times but mostly dull most fun is had with 2-4 player splitscreen especially because the game has no community but as long as you have friends/ family its a non issue however this game ditches the story mode that the first game had in place of a lazy league mode that tries to force online on you and since there is no community you wait for long periods of time for it to stop matchmaking (cant stop it unless you go offline on steam) to fight bots anyway. they also just straight took away customizations from the first game feeling like they are trying to add them later as paid dlc sleezy…. speaking of sleezy devs have a habit of releasing the game and dropping it after release they did it with the first and quickly did it with this one they are no where to be seen dont expect balance patches or qol gameplay changes to advance the game further.

Changes From Original Override

Super Mech League (SML) takes the entire game in a new direction. For the uninitiated and return players, I will outline the differences from my experience. I will try objectively list differences with my opinions on the changes listed separately. I would recommend both games, though SML provides more content and would be recommended first.

Gameplay/Combat

It is important to note that the fundamentals of fighting have changed since OG Override. In both games, each arm/punch and leg/kick was individually assigned to the shoulder and trigger buttons. This was a distinguishing feature in playing like a lumbering mech.

GALAHAD 3093

GALAHAD 3093

Lance Warfare

**In GALAHAD 3093, players pilot mechs known as “Lances”. Capable of massive destruction, Lances are highly customizable. Types range from Light to Super Heavy to enhance mobility, damage, and defense. Lances can also be armed with a variety of weapons, deployable systems, and upgrade modules to prepare for a variety of tactical situations.

  • Strafe and shred up close with miniguns and shotguns.

  • Blast enemies from afar with beam cannons and plasma guns.

  • Hammer base defenses with rockets, guided missiles, and grenades.

  • Navigate the terrain by boosting to reach high speeds or use your jump-jet to ascend high above it.

Heroic Knights

**The pilots of GALAHAD 3093 are “Knights”, heroes that have taken up the mantle of legendary Arthurian figures. Each Knight provides a unique active and passive ability that can dramatically turn the tide of battle.

  • Wielding X-Calibur, Arthur can call down an orbital strike on his enemies.

  • Gwen’s Royal Dome shields yourself and your allies from damage.

  • Kay’s skim jets release an afterburn effect that leaves a trail of burning napalm in his wake.

  • Mordred’s Teleport ability allows players to swiftly blink across the map

Perfect Your Build

**Players must strategically combine Knights, Lances, and equipable items to dominate the battlefield. Mix-and-match primary and secondary weapons, deployable systems, and upgrade modules to create the ideal loadout for a range of playstyles.

  • Balance weapon types or double-up guns akimbo for maximum firepower.

  • Shape the battlefield with deployable drones, tracking mines, and spawn points.

  • Test hundreds of upgrade modules to find what compliments your Lance best.

  • Set and save up to four distinct loadouts to choose from during battle.

Tactics and Teamwork

**Mech battles in GALAHAD 3093 require more than just force and vigor. Players must coordinate with teammates to capture points, destroy enemy generators, and lay down defenses in 32-person PvP arenas. The team that maintains the most bases for the longest period of time and takes out the most enemies claims victory.

  • Prepare for large-scale vertical engagements on complex battlefields.

  • Claim the high ground and pummel enemy positions.

  • Explore and utilize every map environment to gain a tactical edge.

  • Communicate with teammates to execute plans and secure a win.********

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

As somebody who played Mechwarrior 2/2:GBL/2:Mercs, 3/3:PM, 4/4:BK/4:Mercs, Mechcommanders 1 and 2, and was involved in the Mechwarrior community for years back in the golden era…. This is an acceptable giant stompy combat game.

Take command of your own mercenary company in the 31st century. Choose where to go and which contracts to accept, while being careful who you offend or favor since your reputation has a big influence on your contract benefits. Prepare for each mission by outfitting yourself and up-to three team mates from your pool of owned mechs and customize their weapons and upgrades. During battle, choose the right weapon for the right target at the right range while managing your heat output and your remaining ammo. Stay moving to avoid taking focused return fire. Follow your waypoints and complete each simple objective (generally some variation on “kill or destroy this”… battlemechs are not subtle) until you’re given the go-ahead to leave the area. Between missions, weigh your contract pay and battlefield salvage against your repair costs, crew salaries and travel expenses. Shop for new gear. And try to make enough C-bills to retire on a quiet private world some day.

A long-overdue single-player game for the MechWarrior franchise, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries shakes up the game’s usual format with predominantly randomly generated missions, although there are certain hand-crafted questlines here and there. After the tutorial quest chain (which you can skip if you have the DLC, but more on that later) you are sent off to look for a few choice contracts in the nearest warzone and strike it rich with the modest stable of mechs you have on hand. Or die trying. Wouldn’t be getting that much hazard pay for nothing, right?

Phos

Phos

You play as a robot colonizer that has been sent out to an alien planet with one goal. Harvest its resources and send them back home. To accomplish this you must build a base on the planet. As your base develops you will be able to build more advanced structures to harvest at an increased scale. And eventually you will be able to accomplish your goal to start sending resources back to your mother planet. But the native inhabitants of the planet won’t sit idly by as you strip their world of its resources.

I don’t know why this is being compared to mechwarrior 2, but this isn’t even in the same league as a MW game. it doesn’t even feel like a mech game and controlls like a normal fps. This would be tolerable if it weren’t for the plethora of bugs and the nonsensical story that came with it. My favorite bug being the one that will often spawn you in a place that gets the player stuck on the map if they forget to pick a start point. Balancing is also a mess since there are only 3 mechs and energy weapons mostly usless outside of the emp.

Do you like Mechwarrior 2? The developer of this does too and it shows! It feels great, plays great and I just love it! Super easy mod support as well! I have modded in the MW2 soundtrack and now it feels even better! 3

It is one of those games I just got an instant crush on, exactly why that is is hard to explain but I will try to give some pros and cons on why.

Pros:

  • A very present Mechwarrior 2/Mech sim retro feel, but with modern fps controls (similar to Mechwarrior Online)

  • Lots of options for loadouts for the mechs with 3 Chassis available, lots of weapons and weapon group settings.

Blackwind

Blackwind

Blackwind is a top-down sci-fi action game that puts you in the shoes of a teenager trapped inside a prototype battle armor suit during an alien invasion. Face off against enemies, cut through their ranks, and fight back in a last-ditch attempt to stop a planetary invasion.

When the starship Pandora is shot down, James Hawkins finds himself trapped inside a military prototype Battle Frame armor as he hurtles towards Medusa-42. As the Raknos hordes ravage the planet and leave every human mining colony in ruins, James doesn’t have long to discover how to operate the Battle Frame if he wants to survive his dangerous surroundings and find his missing father.

But James isn’t alone on his quest – an unexpected ally hides inside his Battle Frame…

  • Choose your playstyle: Engage in melee combat, shoot at will, launch missiles at enemies, or use special Battle Suit powers to survive showdowns.

  • Fiercely terminate your opponents with brutal moves.

  • Evolve your Battle Frame with new powers and expand your skill tree.

  • Use the Battle Frame Drone to expand your fighting and exploring capabilities in the single-player campaign.

Build your own Russian Metal Gears!

I’ve played this game years ago and it’s still good! I’m still not sure about the ending, though.

First review aimed for English players.

Parkan Iron Strategy is one of the four games in the Parkan series, three of which you can buy on Steam. The fourth one is an “expansion” to Iron Strategy named Part 2. The reason for it’s abcense is it’s Russian only localization, that’s why you are limited to a Youtube walkthrough of it, if you can find one.

One things for sure, it’s hard.

I’ve played and finished this game a LONG time ago. Replaying it now just shows that nothing has changed. Got nearly stomped by an easy AI at the beginning of a singleplayer map, but managed later on.

SilverFrame(纯白星原)

SilverFrame(纯白星原)

It’s like a newgrounds Flash game back in 2007 but thousand times better

The gameplay itself is pretty much what you see. The controls are very unconventinal and hard at first but you get the hang of it. The gameloop is a bit like Starfox 2. You search the grid map for the portal getting you to a new map. Random events occur everytime you move tho.

Has a lot of unlockable units and weapons now which you get as a random reward for clearing these map events.

For such a low price you can most assurely try it out at least.

-need controller support

-optimization

-the controls are confusing as heck
