BRAVELY DEFAULT II

BRAVELY DEFAULT II

When I wrote my initial review, I played ~6 hours and was skeptical of the game. My opinion has changed for the better in the intervening ~82 hours and I… kinda recommend this game, but not as part of the series it stems from:

It is an alright game, but not a great Bravely game. I played Bravely Default and Bravely Second years ago on the 3DS and they were the reason I bought this one. This is heavily influencing my view of the game, especially my list of negative points.

Positive:

  • It has good performance overall, though one optional vulcano-themed dungeon was kinda laggy for me. The game lost the high detail background textures of towns one time at around 36h playtime and had one blackscreen at 70 hours (both fixed with a restart).

Bravely Default II (Steam Port) Rating

Overall Score: 9.1/10

Rating: Excellent

Note: This was for my first playthrough of Bravely Default II in 2020. I have

finished many square-enix games and expected this to be similar to an old

FF game.

☐ You forget what reality is

☑ Beautiful - The art style of this game is very simple, similar to a mobile

game but many of the landscapes are beautiful. The job system designs are

unique and eye catching. The best way to describe it would be pleasant and

Fateholder Quest

Cute, linear game that kept me interested. Nice little combat system too.

Turn based, but not bad even for me as a person who doesn’t care for turn based. Cute, and kinda addicting, Makes you want to continue playing only issue with that is that it is very short.

My Inner Darkness Is A Hot Anime Girl!

My Inner Darkness Is A Hot Anime Girl!

Good game overall. References are amazing (especially if you’re in the SIGYAAD Discord, you should join it, it’s fun). Menus are nice to look at and navigate and the combat feels very rewarding. However there are a few negative things I’d like to point out. The text is riddled with typos (either something simple like “wierdo” or punctuation where there shouldn’t be any), first person mode resets when I enter a new room, and I couldn’t seem to find a way to fullscreen the game.

So I like it, other than the oddities mentioned I really recommend it. Especially when you’re seeing references left and right to people you know.

I had so much fun playing this game. I am curious though, did they ever catch the rat? 10/10 would recommend, very funny story and worth spending a bit of time playing through,

Really enjoyed the game, its a bit grindy and my only concern is the lobby for co op missions which rarely find people to play with, so i end up doing solo.

AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed

AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed

After a little over 80 hours, I’ve finally got the platinum badge. Now, I would like to mention that platinum isn’t the same as 100% I am not even close to getting 100%, there’s still so much clothes and weapons and nicknames and other stuff to collect. I just managed to get all of the Steam achievements, but that’s good enough for me! And now that I’ve gotten platinum, I figured I might as well write a review.

So as you already know, this game was originally released in 2011 for the PSP, and now in 2021 they decided to release a PC HD remake. Now, I’ve never played the original PSP game, but I am certain that they have made good improvements, and it’s also a very nice port.

Don’t ask for HIS measurements!

Onto a more serious review. I wish there was a neutral recommendation but, since there isn’t, I cannot recommend this game at full price.

To preface this review, I played the original version and the plus version on a psp years ago.

I love that Aquire has translated this game into English and ported it to pc. It makes it easier preserve such a great series.

However, if you are coming in from Undead & Undressed, you may be disappointed.

While it does say HD update, the graphics does not look great when it is up-scaled to 1080p and above. Also, the voice recordings sound compressed. This is to be expected when you port a psp game to pc.
