Gnomepunk

Gnomepunk

If you ever see a pointed red hat while picking mushrooms - run!

Somewhere deep in the woods, creatures no bigger than a rabbit have their home, yet they are formidable among much larger human brethren. They are gnomes. Legendary race of halflings, spreading fear and ruling in wooded areas since the dawn of time.

Create an army, train builders, gather resources, develop technology and lead your mini-people to take total control of the forest.

On your way, you will be faced with dangerous external factors such as wild animals, hostile terrain, carnivorous plants, hostile gangs, as well as internal factors, such as alcoholism, idleness, and defeatism spreading among the society.

On the way to the top, make alliances or develop your army and declare wars.

Set traps for animals, and learn to catch and use people for your purposes.

If they turn out to be unproductive, you have no choice but to resort to torture.

As a ruler, you must not forget to entertain your people. Arena should solve this problem.

A well-thought-out economy leads to prosperity, but a ruler that is too gentle may lose his respect. Use a strict tax system to your advantage and keep society in check.

The day is for work, but it is at night that real life begins.

It is a tradition among the gnomes to come up with a dope party every night, where there is plenty of alcohol, stimulants, crazy contests, and prostitution. As the king, you should have fun and enjoy what the night has to offer.

Terrific value little game for a couple hours of relaxing puzzling with fun, bouncy music This game is less than a dollar, but I would probably pay a few dollars more for extra stages. When I beat the last level, after about 2 or 3 hours, I found myself complaining that it was too short, and had to remind myself I paid less than a dollar for it. I have some mild complaints, but nothing that would stop me from purchasing again. There are a few interface quibbles, several of which the dev already addressed, and some of the later stages are much easier than they should be, and should be placed earlier, while one of the earlier stages is hard enough that it should be toward the late mid-game. Definitely worthwhile, and I’ll probably be buying a few more of this dev’s games.

I enjoyed playing Box Factory. Puzzles were progressively more difficult even if they seemed simple at first especially the last one (27) which frustrated me for 30 minutes (doh).

Ohh, my graphics card was thrashing at 1,980fps. I think there should be a “limit FPS” option in the settings as it does not need any more than 60 fps and would save electricity and heat

Really fun little game. About an hour’s worth of gameplay and racing to beat it all. One thing I did notice was if you lap the last place car, you get placed in last place and you lose a lap

Awesome game and some really tough puzzles. I enjoyed the endless runner and got some cool skins from it. I’m an achievement hunter so it was fun to replay the story to unlock them! The endless runners one were more difficult to get but I got there!

While none of the puzzles were all too difficult the big problem with the game is that the controls are terrible. You can’t hold and drag where you want to go, you have to click and wait, except when you are holding something there are on screen buttons you need to click with your mouse. Plus half of the time when you click to pick something up it glitches and either doesn’t grab it or you do grab it but it clips into another object. I know it’s free but there are some really great free games out there and I hold this type of game to the same standards.

Beautiful graphics, simple and efficient mechanics. However, the navigation within a chapter is more than cryptic; and it looks like it’s possible to have a sneak peek at some of the 15 chapters… I found that part totally confusing as the chapter is selected by simply hovering over it (it then has the little glitter around it). One slide in the carousel shows this. I completed the 6 story levels of the 1st chapter, and then moved on to the levels with coins and gems. Hint system seems adequate once you can use it. On the fence about this one… Price will be a factor, so will revisit once released.

These are the most unusual races in my life, I’ve tried a bunch of projects, but this one surprised me the most, not the usual approach, and a bunch of different characters. Each of them has different abilities.

I played this game as a kid and enjoyed it a lot, but unfortunately the steam version is even more broken that the game from about ten years ago. There is at least one secret level in this game, but it won’t load for you no matter what compatibility settings you use as if some files are missing. The multiplayer also doesn’t work, displaying a game-crashing error when you try to join the single available suspicious looking lobby. There is an English language version, but the in-game input is still in Russian. Also the Steam overlay doesn’t work, but it’s quite common for older titles and therefore the least important part of this review.
