Hate Wave

Hate Wave

A pricey game that seems like nothing more than an asset flip. The mouse handles horrible, the day to night cycle (I assume that’s what it is) is horrendous, and the enemies all look stock. The audio is good enough though, and honestly it achieves a cheap Devil May Cry (PS2) knock-off atmosphere I did appreciate.

The only thing this game and Dark Souls have in common is that they both have two words in their name.

The lighting is a mess and you play half the time in pitch darkness.

The enemies march in lockstep directly at the player.

There is one location and it is as boring as watching someone watching a video of paint drying.

Avoid.

This just isn’t a well-made game. I experienced several bugs during my playtime of only 37 minutes. I had to tap out after enduring every single minute of this game. It’s not just buggy, it lacks overall polish, & it’s just not fun to play. I will give the developer credit for being ambitious and trying to create something new for VR. A horror game with some depth. Unfortunately, either the inexperience or the lack of time put into the project are apparent.

This game is the pinnacle of perfection. Through hard craftmanship was you able to make such a fine specimen of a game. This game is the PEAK of gaming history. Through perseverance and persistance are you able to make it through the waves. Determination is a huge factor in playing and I will be remist if I didn’t mention the graphics of the game. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely play again. Thank you for the amazing work you put into the game and may the game prosper for years to come.

Onee Chanbara ORIGIN

Onee Chanbara ORIGIN

OneeChanbara ORIGIN is a great game. Surprising by OneeChanbara standards. This is probably the best OneeChanbara game to date. I’ll break down this review in sections.

Visuals

This might be subjective, but I very much like the new anime art style. For one, the main character artist is Katsumi Enami, known for her artwork in recent Nihon Falcom games. The new art style, which is far from generic anime, really breathes life into Aya and Saki’s designs. One of the strengths of anime art styles is making emotions more prominent on characters’ faces, and this game is no different. You can really see the sadness in Aya’s eyes and the stubbornness in Saki’s. The world settings are a lot more vibrant as well, as are the blood and gore effects. ORIGIN is a really pretty game and will no doubt age well. Also, a quick shoutout to Aya and Saki’s new Xtatic Form appearances. Their Xtatic Forms from Z2 Chaos looked a bit strange (Saki’s looked especially ugly), but in ORIGIN, they’re fantastic. Although there are slight demonic features, Aya’s form is pretty damn sexy, while Saki is still very cute (must be because they maintained that adorable fringe).

Having played Bikini Samurai Squad and Z2 Chaos, I can say that Origin definitely took aspects of those games and not only incorporated them into the game, but also polished and improved upon those aspects. The art style is definitely something I enjoy. It’s a simple yet dynamic and vibrant style that is appealing to the eye and makes the player feel like they’re in an anime which can be enjoyable to some (like myself). It’s really a matter of taste.

Gameplay wise, I enjoyed the element that they incorporated from Z2 Chaos, for instance, XTatic forms and Xtasy combos. It was quite nostalgic seeing those elements again and it definitely made me want to play Z2 Chaos again. I also very much enjoy the parry system. It reminded me of Saki’s counter from Z2 Chaos but much more refined, polished and improved. It gives me a DMC 4/5 Royal Guard feeling. One thing I experienced however when it comes to parries. I’m not sure if anyone else experienced it, but if you parry as Saki against the Fatmen zombies and do a cool finish either in Xtatic form or when you’re about to turn beserk, the camera goes haywire and you zoom around all over the place. It does go back to normal eventually but it’s a very interesting glitch. You can still attack while zooming but you have to shift the camera constantly.

Survive The Dark

Survive The Dark

Honestly such a terrible game, but it more than makes up for it in how ridiculous the game is. honestly hilarious game, i don’t know if that’s what they intended but its what it is.

Good. 5$ was not a waste at all.

It was a short play time of one hour, but it was good during the play.

It looks like a survival game in Open World, but it is actually a linear story game.

The story wasn’t bad, but it was short.

Considering the fact that it is early access, it would be nice if other modes or stories were added later.

Of course, it would be really good to apply for multiplayer. Good luck.

69 Ways to Kill a Zombie

69 Ways to Kill a Zombie

Sorry guys but I cannot recommend this game. I purchased it because of the waving hands motion locomotion and I really like that a lot but game itself is poorly made, buggy, crashes constantly and not challenging. I’ve been waiting to see how it progresses but there has been no updates or news. The melee weapons are totally useless when even dead zombie parts hurt you when get near them… and that’s if you can even pick one up and not have them get caught on anything and lose it as you walk around and swing your arms. The guns are all either too weak or too powerful and if the map floor is dark you cannot even see where they are. When the game has allowed me to progress without crashing the waves just seem to get longer but not more difficult. I have found places where I can just stand still and repeatedly shoot my feet with the cannon and that kills any zombies in range. Then there are the little things like the blue laser pointer between levels and you get the hovering message that you died when you die AND when you complete a level. I paid way too much for a demo of the locomotion.

this game could be a lot of fun at some point, but right now there is too little to do, and too many bugs and/or odd behavior.

the bugs i could live with, i’m sure they’ll get fixed. but if this game remains simply a wave based zombie shooter, i don’t think it will ever be worth $20.

Zombie Killer Drift - Racing Survival

Zombie Killer Drift - Racing Survival

Remember “Carmageddon”, the racing game where you could also score points by running over every pedestrian that dared to cross your paths? That was fun, right?

Unfortunately, while “Zombie Killer Drift” does scratch the itch of just letting go and mangling zombies with your car, that’s about all it does, and it doesn’t do it well enough to be interesting for long.

It all starts rather innocently. There’s no plot here, and why would there if you can run over zombies with your car? There are 16 levels which more or less all look the same. Some are set at night, others during daytime, but it’s all rather bland. Your car of choice spawns and zombies come running from everywhere. There’s no indicator how many you killed or how many you need to kill - instead, there’s a huge FPS counter on the screen. Why? No idea. Some zombies are tougher than others and have a health bar so you need to hit them several times. Their AI is rather daft so if you knock them far away by hitting them at full speed they often have trouble to find their way back to you and you can start searching for them. Not cool.
