The Lost Legends of Redwall™: The Scout Act 1
I will begin stating I have been following this project since nearly its inception and announcement to be funding via Kickstarter. This is for all intents and purposes an early access prototype meant to glean feedback from people like myself. Do not buy this game at this moment, if you are expecting it to be 100% complete and ready to play. It is early access for a reason. Giving it a negative review for being incomplete after willfully purchasing it as early access content is ignorant.
I do recommend it full heartedly for those who are willing to pick through, nail down details that can be improved upon, and are willing to provide that feedback to the developers. I’ve played through the polished level multiple times now. I still feel like I have missed things, and each time I have played I’ve found something new.

This game is a hot mess, and it really doesn’t need to be. Redwall is special to me. As a young child I loved the books. I was fairly obsessive about reading them, and I was for years. I could recite the plot of almost any one of the books, despite how long it’s been since I’ve read any of them. I was surprised to learn there was a Redwall game in development, I first heard about it in 2014. When the game came out on steam early access I bought it within the first month, it was one level, and extremely buggy, but it had promise. I would play it for a little while whenever there was an update, until it stopped working.

Transcender
It was definetly a new experience.
The start narration felt like torture to me thats why I always interupted it.
The second part was very intuitive and even though one doesnt know what to do or what is happening it becomes clear pretty fast. It would be nice if we would get to see more changes on the planet though. One tree - that you just see if you zoom out - and a few clouds is not that exciting.
There where drones to send out but they never reported a find.
On the station the time is always running out too fast. Only once I had more time after a choice put me into a slow motion state where time moved slower and even though I was moving slower too I could explore much more.

Transcender is something special, unique and all of its own. While, I’ve done several playthroughs, I still don’t really know what the hell I experienced. This is an awe and thought inspiring interactive experience with heavy artistic elements and nods to Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (you can even see a beacon, in the AI warehouse, that is modelled after Hal) while still remaining very original. After a few runs, I do think this chapter could’ve been expanded on slightly overall but it far exceeded my initial expectations and I think Aldo Jeffrey will have some very interesting stories to tell going forward.

Mind you, there is very little content right now, but by buying this, you are supporting a lone developer with a GREAT game idea.
It’s both a 1st person RPG and a strategy builder, complete with voice acting (good voice acting). This all from one dude! Guys, if you can afford it, help this guy out.

Step into the epic, story-rich world of the wildly popular Redwall books. The Scout is an episodic adventure game full of vivid characters, high adventure, and most importantly, the first new official Redwall story since 2011. The third episode, “The Abbey," tells the story of Liam and Sophia’s desperate race to Redwall Abbey after being mortally poisoned by Scumsnout’s vicious maw. This is the dramatic conclusion of their journey through Portman’s Slough, Pontederia, and the ancient Otter’s ruins.
Forgotten Faces
Tried it for 30 minutes and got stuck several times. Couldn’t see or move the character out of a corner and had to start again. Then the menu wouldn’t go away so I coudn’t interact with objects anymore.
So: Test it again several times, update it and make it playable. Right now, I can’t recommend it.

Tank controls are a little off-putting.
Esoteric puzzling is only fun if there is SOME sense.
All that being said, I really like the idea of the game.
I like the music, the art style, even the idea of solving puzzles to get through.
With a bunch of work, maybe some additional direction/story, this game could be awesome.

The Lost Legends of Redwall™: The Scout Act 2
I will admit, after playing Act 1 on release, I was very doubtful that Soma could continue their franchise. The gameplay was very buggy, as expected from a new developer, and it got so frustrating that I couldn’t stand to play the game anymore.
Fast forward a couple years, and to my pleasant surprise, Soma used their lessons learned from Act 1, and it shows here in Act 2 (They even vastly improved the gameplay through patches in Act 1!). Though there are some glaring bugs in the gameplay and level design, they’re much less plentiful than Act 1 was upon release. Most notable were the lack of collision object which would allow you to fall through the world. In general, Soma are really applying themselves in making a great game with a great story for any Redwall reader.

If you liked Act I, chances are you’ll enjoy this one too. The gameplay is essentially the same and, even if it isn’t groundbreaking, it has the same charm and character as the first instalment. There are new characters with plenty of personality, including one based on an actual character from the Redwall book. The artworks are lovely as before and the soundtrack is great.
Also I’d like to give the devs, Soma Games, some extra praise: though these Redwall games are sometimes a little buggy, Soma really make the effort to correct as many glitches as they can. They actively facilitate player feedback with a bug reporting option on the menu, and week by week they’ve been steadily patching as many issues as they can. A committed developer is one worth supporting!

The Outcast Lovers
I admit I openly ridiculed some of the dialogues in this game. Especially the part with “Werther’s Original”.
But that’s kind of the issue with Outcast Lovers. It is a narrative game, with pretty much the same pros and cons as it’s prequel, The Night Fisherman. But this time, instead of making us experience or feel the narrative, the game just force-feeds us it’s main message.
And since the main message (Immigration system evil and cruel, outcasts helping immigrants marginalized, brave and warm-hearted) is the same as in the prequel game, all the tension is gone. We know how the story is going to end. And we know why.

The premise of this game, and the other, is the treatment of immigrants. The story of this game was absolutely lost on the reader.
The title is “The Outcast Lovers,” but doesn’t even focus on them other than a conversation about adopting a kid they accidentally hit in a car crash (who is completely fine I guess?). One small fight between the interracial couple (which could have been an additional story element due to the times where that was even more looked down upon) does not make me care for them, or for the kid who randomly gets hit.

Sam & Max Save the World
I thought I smelled that joke coming down the turnpike, burning oil and dragging its muffler.
Sam & Max almost feels like one of those things that’s self-explanatory at this point, but also it’s totally not since point & click adventures aren’t really as mainstream as they used to be. So if you don’t know, Telltale’s Sam & Max games are episodic comedy games that were part of a (mostly successful) attempt to make adventure games more enjoyable for normal people. Sam & Max Season One was also kind of a proof of concept that showed that episodic games were viable. It’s also very funny.

This game is what you need to start playing to experience point and click adventure gaming at its finest. The actual adventure gaming at its finest is Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse. But before you get to that, you must play this and also season 2.
How does it hold up to the original? It’s great! The visuals are improved. They have altered a few things, but the altered things were elements of polish that reflect society’s growing understanding of how to better talk about things and represent people (actually hiring a black actor to play Bosco, for instance). While it initially took a couple of games for the new Bosco voice to find his sea legs, they went back and updated the first couple of episodes so now it practically sounds like the same old Bosco. (And no worries about the original Bosco actor, he’s still Jimmy Two Teeth so he’s still in the game.)

VideoHole: Episode I
It’s a fun lil romp with cute characters to talk to, although it’s kinda buggy at the end of the game (Just talk to the ‘Constable’ and book it where you need to go… trust me on this, you don’t want to be frozen). The story was so interesting, I was determined to see the ending, so going through all the bugs end-game was so worth it; unless they weren’t bugs… and actually…–nevermind, spoilerz!~ Also, a strange thing to note, but it recognizes the gamepad for most of the game, ‘cept the ..last telephone that require you hitting the ‘E’ key, though it’s only a minor thing.

great stuff, deep stuff, beautiful stuff.
Aesthetics, transitions and presentation are on-point, with a fantastic script as well.
Video hole starts off very quirky and light-weight, before sneakily turning into a poignant, melancholic piece of art (as all great art does). The ending is a punch in the gut, the characters remind me of my own friends (if they didn’t all end up crazy :P ), and you can see the developer baring their soul through this.
I was very moved, without really expecting it.
Strongly recommended.
