Chronicles of Tal’Dun: The Remainder - Act 2

Chronicles of Tal’Dun: The Remainder - Act 2

If you’ve read my review on Act 1 of this game you know I not only recommend it but love it. It is a truly unique work of art from my perspective. I adore the artwork in this game, the story and the music.

I am only an hour in but like to take my time going slowly through this game.

The character of Ilar is mysterious and compelling as always throughout the game. I enjoy that the game allows the player to choose their own gender and Ilar is also not defined as a gender so it is up to you to determine that for yourself. The game also uses gender-neutral pronouns implemented in a very natural way. Using they/them or xe/xer. I usually don’t mind if a game does determine genders for the player but this was a refreshing take that really, in my opinion, makes the characters more mysterious and wonderful.

Chronicles of Tal’Dun: The Remainder

A stone tower

You’re woken up with no memory of your past by an elegant, enigmatic stranger called Ilar who tells you that a door to the abyss has opened up and threatens to consume you, unless you do exactly as Ilar says.

A magickal mystery

You’re sucked into a vortex of forces beyond your reckoning - dark magick, bizarre artifacts, shadowy stalkers, and a past life you’ve shared with the stranger that they do everything to hide. Armed with the knowledge that you were a High Magus, and that a botched ritual of yours caused the disaster and your amnesia, you must summon your wits, courage, and force of will to rediscover the spell and undo your mistakes.

A treacherous path

Finding the tower’s secrets, however, will not be easy, for they’re locked tight within your research journal, written on scattered letters, and lying between the lines of Ilar’s words.

On top of that, danger waits around every corner - spells that warp your mind and body, sinister creatures who lurk in the dark recesses, and a relationship with Ilar that borders on explosive at times - everything seems to conspire against you.

But all is not lost, for there are fleeting moments of reprieve - an achingly comforting, recovered memory, an unexpected visit from a loyal companion, a touching moment of connection with Ilar - lifelines and breadcrumbs pulling you inexorably toward an unsettling conclusion.

Can you piece together the scattered puzzle of your life? Can you save yourself and Ilar? Can you keep your mind in one piece until the end?

3 min per day! Improve your aged eyes(Presbyopia)

This product requires an active internet connection. . . to show you a red screen.

For this reason, I will recommend you simply find an image of deep red, and stare at it for a couple of minutes a day.

How does it work? This must be magic! Just stare into the red light and watch how your vision improves. I use gaming glasses to help with fatigue from the computer, but there are many ways you can reduce eye stress.

Rate 10/10 on the experience and looking forward to doing it multiple times.

Beautiful game with narration

The art, music, and voice acting in this game is very nice. I enjoyed the story, the way it unfolds is enjoyable. The concept could have been fleshed out a bit more.

The USD $10 price tag is a bit steep for some people, considering the length of the VN. If you can catch it on sale, go ahead. You will enjoy it over a cup of coffee.

A very short interactive story featuring soothing narration and top-notch voice acting.

Game’s premise:

_**The game is set on lunar base, now that the life on earth has ceased its existence.

You wake up at the sound a soothing voice. Rick is standing in front of you while stating that the Christmas day has come.

With the reassuring company offered by Rick and your cat Elec, you live through your daily slow-paced routine.**_

Featurings:

This game does offer an interactive story to experience in a form quite comparable to reading an actual book, with the addition of Japanese voice acting.

The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass

The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass

Sekimeiya is one of the most impressive and ambitious stories i’ve ever read. Blows almost all other mystery VN competition out of the water. Hell it just blows most other mysteries out of the water. The story is very dense, complex, and detailed but still watertight and engaging. While the core of the VN is about actively trying to solve the mysteries don’t let that scare you because it doesn’t lack in other departments.

The pacing and presentation are tight and makes for a story that i found very hard to put down even at the cost of sleep. Its thriller elements are stellar with all sorts of twists, conflict, and some great presentation to keep you engaged regardless of how deep you go into mystery solving. Despite being less character and drama focused (not that it has none) it still has a nice cast of capable, non tropey, and enjoyable characters who facilitate the mystery nicely.

No Visual novel has ever made me spend so much time NOT reading the Visual novel, but instead made me think, take notes, craft theories and construct timelines.

According to the in-game playtime recorder, I’ve spent 17 hours in the notes section and 8 hours reading the log. But that doesn’t take into account the time where I’ve just been theory crafting while staring at the screen or when I’ve audibly gasped “No fucking way dude” and I have left my computer with my hands in the air because of what just occurred.

Detective Butler: Maiden Voyage Murder

Detective Butler: Maiden Voyage Murder

Nice detective kinetic novel for one or two afternoons I guess (yeah, there are actually no choices at all) and one that is completely FREE at that. It’s full of overused tropes and it doesn’t take itself seriously at times but I certainly wouldn’t call it bad either as it leaves some food for the thought in the end, so it’s probably somewhere in between.

So yeah - it was enjoyable yet also flawed experience for me. Women characters here are mostly likeable and detailed but all man except captain and protagonist father would benefited from more developement. The pacing was actually pretty good but the mystery was maybe way too easy for me as I guessed the culprit and how everything happend right after the murder happened. Which is good and bad at the same time but thankfully the rest of the story was interesting to follow at least. But the main flaws were probably both main characters - detective Butler and main character (Golder’s son) unfortunately.

Excellent! A free murder mystery visual novel. It’s apparently the first part of Misadventures of Detective Butler series. Originally released in 2013 and then got onto Steam in 2017 with some edits and improvements. I liked this a lot. Has a lot of personal moments and mystery itself is fairly interesting. Albeit I really would like to force detective to grow some beard first. You don’t get to choose anything in a game, which is shame, as I think they could at least test us with picking a suspect at the end of a game. But hey, at least it gives enough clues to solve it fairly before the murderer is revealed.
