Odysseus Kosmos and his Robot Quest: Episode 1

Odysseus Kosmos and his Robot Quest: Episode 1

Not bad for a free game. A simple point and click adventure. Some cute jokes, but not easy to solve. Really needed a walkthrough to finish. Not really interested in a sequel.

Update.

I came back to this game in order to get all the achievements. At one point, it was impossible to get all the achievements without buying all the episodes. I give credit to the developers. They updated the game, so you’re not forced to buy any additional episodes to get all the achievements.

If you like the demo and want to buy additional episodes, then get the Complete Season. For some reason, it’s listed on a different page.

My daughter and I just played through the demo and episode 1, and whilst it was nice to get it for free, we found a number of frustrating issues just ruined the experience to the point that we’d personally not consider buying the rest of the episodes. Let me explain…

The good:

  • It has a great premise, although it feels 100% ripped from Interstella.

  • The graphics are reminiscent of older Lucas Arts games

  • The storey line is reasonable

  • It’s not too short, and not too long

The Bad:

  • For a point n click that should be dialog heavy, this feels too heavy. At times there is just too much dialog.

10/10 very high risk-high reward platformer with some serious influences on its background that range from old horror films to the most classics of 80’s games like Castlevania

Captain Disaster in: The Dark Side of the Moon

Captain Disaster in: The Dark Side of the Moon

I loved this little game. Graphics are a bit of an eyesore but they fit the mood well, because it’s a meta, fourth wall breaking parody type of game. It’s good fun and made me laugh. Puzzles make some sense and the dev was even kind enough to help me when I got stuck - I thought I had tried something I didn’t. This game is better enjoyed by people familiar with Sierra and Lucasarts games and that can get all the pop references. It exploits the point and click tropes and the bad habits of adventure players brilliantly.

This game is a short little diversion that will be enjoyable to fans of the Point and Click genre. A fully voiced space comedy, you are trapped on a moon with the goal of getting off. In true adventure game fashion, a larger plot emerges.

The real joy of the game is the comedy writing. It is quite reference heavy, but enjoyable nonetheless. A full third of the references are to adventure games, classic adventure games, and AGS, the software used to build the game. Another full third of the references are sci-fi references. The final third of references are to Pink Floyd albums. If you don’t like these things, this game may not be for you.

An interesting game with an unusual idea. If you like hard platformers (but you have to be ATTENTIVE, and sometimes you have to think) or you want to try your luck, then this game is for you.

Simple graphics, but was a well made and challenging platformer.

First impression: nice music, love the vector like artstyle and obvious attention to detail; I can tell this is someone’s love child. For that alone, a thumbs up from me. Plus it’s an interesting take on Asteroids, for the price of a cup of coffee with which to support a fellow indie developer.

Lightway Lines

Lightway Lines

In 2061, the desire for seamless interstellar travel continues to grow.

LIGHTWAY LINES - a modern, specialist airline - is trialing new technology to make space tourism safe and affordable for everyone. But in this moody, atmospheric sci-fi ARPG adventure, Captain Rain could end up paying the price for attempting to make history.

  • Explore the Lightway cruiser and unearth what really happened.

  • Fast-paced, ARPG-style combat.

  • Custom artwork with detailed, interesting environments.

  • A hard-hitting & unnerving soundtrack.

  • Plenty of collectibles that expand on the story.

LIGHTWAY LINES is set to launch in November 2022.

First off the bat - I have never played anything like this before; controlling a space game with typing commands. Disclaimer: I only use Steam for the new Red Alert: Remastered, but I learned of this game on FB.

You’ll have to like the following to enjoy the game: 1 bit graphics and typing.

You’ll die a lot at first, but you will find a method to the madness and learn to use commands and when to use what weapons. I usually take out everything in a level and then raid the planet.

A bizarre smash up of star trek bridge crew and typing of the dead.

You need to carefully manage you ammo and prioritize between maneauvering attacking and defending, each action requiring a lengthy string to be typed perfectly.

Very original concept great for booting up when you just feel like playing for a short session
