Flat Heroes

Flat Heroes

Despite my positive recommendation, I have one major complaint about this game: your avatar is a square that rolls to move.

Hrm… a SQUARE that ROLLS… does anyone else see the problem with the physics of this?

So if you want to move your square just a little bit, you are out of luck because the square will roll back to where you started or will roll further forward than you want if you hit a certain threshold. If your square is tilted in air, you could land on your corner and move into danger. If you land on the edge of a ledge, even if you are flat, if your center of mass is not on the ledge, you can roll off. You can wall cling, but only if one of the sides of your square completely touches the wall, so again, if your square is tilted and you hit the wall with a corner, this can mess you up. I can’t tell you how many times I got fracked by this baffling mechanic. In my humble opinion, it doesn’t make the game any more fun or unique, the game is way too hard otherwise to warrant this extra challenge, and it actually goes against the game’s minimalist street cred (if it were me, I would have made it more like Thomas Was Alone and have the little squares just slide along instead).

I absolutely recommend this game if you like easy-to-get-into platformers, couch co-op, and/or games with subtle depth.

The most recent update as of this review added Survival mode, which is really six modes (each basically an endless mode with the goal being lasting longer than anyone else, but remaining distinct enough to be different modes). This includes a mode called Twitch, which is a Twitch integrated mode that allows the audience to pick the next obstacles the streamer faces. Survival mode(s) in general each have a scoreboard for those who like to get competitive.

This game is good! I will play this with my friends soon. Sadly the title is true, because this game gets “Overshadow"ed too much.

Bludgeon

Bludgeon

Bludgeon is a death match between bird-riding warriors wielding flails. Evade the spikes and your enemies' weapons in your feeble attempt to survive and become victorious. Grab some controllers and some friends, and prepare to be bludgeoned!

Inspired by games like Joust, Towerfall, Super Smash Brothers, and Bomberman, Bludgeon is being built with love, knowing there are few things more fun and worthwhile than a room full of friends enjoying a good video game together.

Features:

  • Simple but polished gameplay, centered around use of the flail – swing it, block with it, and throw it!

  • A unique, sensible control scheme.

  • Risk/reward based gameplay:

    • If you have your weapon out, you can attack, but it hinders your movement.

    • You can throw your weapon, but that leaves you temporarily defenseless.

    • Keep your weapon out longer for a super-powerful charged attack!

  • Up to four players at once.

  • Several characters and stages to choose from.

  • Pain and death at the hands of your enemies – or, if you’re fortunate, sorrow and guilt as an undeserving survivor in an uncaring world.

Spartan Firefight

Spartan Firefight

Really enjoyable 2d shooter. You are dropped in a small map and have to fight waves of aliens. There is also an ai deathmatch mode against space marines. Each weapon feels distinct and has a tactical purpose. Upgrade system and unlockables will have you coming back for more. Shooting is limited to high or low aiming. So use of the terrain and ducking is something you need to master. Music is good, but somewhat limited selection. Developer continues to support the game with updates. Would recommend.

Great game, only thing I dislike is that you can only have one linked account, I tried to have my Xbox connected to my game data on here, but that wouldn’t work due to the fact that I have already linked my phones game data, other than that it’s a great game.

The once thriving city full of animals has been taken over by cats. They’ve enslaved all the animals and put collars on them. Those that have refused to obey have been kicked out of the city and crammed into slums. You are playing an oppressed dog named “Chips”. He grew up in the slums and recently joined a rebellion group in order to take back the city and end the cats’ tyranny once and for all.

In order to defeat the cats, you will have to save other animals who are captive to their rule. Create diversions, look for different items that can help you in your rebellion, and brawl with cats along the way.

Utilize different mechanics in order to proceed though the game. As a dog, you have an amazing sense of smell; use it to find items and secret locations.

Pick up boxes, cats and other animals, shake them well and throw them away! No obstacle or cat should stand on your way!

If crushing everything on your way is not a solution, use boxes, trash cans and bushes to hide. Use your stealth for sneak attacks on your enemies or to proceed undetected.

key Features:

  • Four main regions, each containing 8 levels to complete.

  • Co-op mode up to 2 players.

  • Purchase more than 15 different items in the shop.

Zoological Era II

I don’t make reviews.

But this fucking game had me on the verge of depression and full melancholy at times and then smiling ear to ear, happy to realise how hopeful and humble life really is.

This game manages to make a masterful and deeply personal story about going through a downward spiral in your life, full of gut-wrenching sorrow and pain. While that’s an achievement on it’s own, I truly appreciate that this game also encapsulates finding light at the end of the tunnel, getting back on your own feet and finding hope in even the smallest victories.
