Snowball Saves Summer
I’d visited Twitch streams of the dev programming and testing out this game and so my expectations from seeing it in action were very high. When the day finally arrived that the game was out, I’d tackled it in the store immediately. With my hands on the controls, I’d experienced the feel of them for myself. They’re incredibly smooth and the gravity on the character feels spot on! A nice weight to him, not too slow and even the ability to make him shoot ahead even faster with the space key! Not to mention that the subtle manipulation of trajectory allowed by the WASD keys really made landing some of the trickier jumps a bit easier. You also get two jumps to correct mistakes and reach higher platforms. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a challenge. No! This game is so sweet and simple with enough in it for higher level play that anyone can pick it up, but the challenge can be found! The stages have plenty of hazards and timing and accuracy based jumps that will test your gravity platforming skills! Some of them I’d had myself a bit of a panic as I’d just missed shots by a hair… or an entire horse. Sometimes I’d have myself a jump from the tension in some stages! Especially the mid to later ones! And a sweet surprise to me was that I’d found the water levels in this game to be very enjoyable, unique and relaxing! You know, those levels you usually want to drown yourself after playing? Well, this game doesn’t have one of those nightmares! Which brings up the next bit I have to say!

Freon
Lucky me has the dubious honour of writing the first review for Freon.
Freon is a 2 player split screen retro pixel platformer brawler from serial asset/template flippers, wow wow Games, who do very little but dump GameMaker Studio and other game construction kit template flips onto Steam as nasty cash grabs.
In the case of Freon, I’m not sure where they ripped this off from but we should expect it’s another asset flip because of the terrible past history of this “developer”. It’s a basic 2D retro pixel brawler with a twist, it’s split screen local multiplayer. They call it “hotseat”, but that’s not how hot seat games work, so I guess they probably didn’t look too deep into the game template they ripped off before they did.

Mission in Snowdriftland
an extraordinary platforming game, with beautiful visuals, impressive sound design, and unique level design. i cannot recommend this game enough. speedrunning this game is extremely plausible, as there is a built in timer, which allows for enjoyable replayability.
mission in snowdriftland can be played as either an advent calendar, in which a single level that corresponds to each date of december is played each day, or as a regular platformer, where you are free to play the game at your own pace. although the game can be beaten without acquiring the snowflakes from each level, it is preferable to collect all the snowflakes, to allow you to unlock a bonus level, and help with pacing.

I only have a few things to say about this game:
1. I found this game from a YouTuber (Nick Robinson) whom made a video over this game’s history.
2. The controls are unlike any platformer I’ve tried so getting all collectibles in first few levels was challenging but fun.
3. I am gamer and I have an Ultrawide 2560x1080 res, 2.37:1 aspect ratio. Game doesn’t have option for this size screen :(
4. Tried the game on 4:3 & 16:9 aspect ratios. Widescreen is best as it actually fills up the screen & 4:3 has vertical bars.

Red Fox and the Four Seasons
Overview:
‘Red Fox and the Four Seasons’ is a platformer runner game where you run through 4 worlds each depicting one of the four seasons of the year hence the title. Similar to other games such as ‘Bit Trip Runner’, ‘Muse Dash’, and if you really want to go back, there was also a flash game called ‘Leo Steel’, ‘Red Fox and the Four Seasons’ follows the same concept of traversing through levels by running without the ability to stop. Each following level being seamlessly transitioned into the game, the level only really ending once you reach the end of the world (or in this case, when the season ends). Throughout your playthrough you’ll run into many various hazards and enemies which you’ll have to avoid while at the same time trying to collect as many apples as you can. These apples are used to buy costumes for the red fox that also have their own perks and bonuses.

Review:
I definitely enjoyed it and for me it’s about a 7 out of 10 I’m not sure it’s worth 4.99 definitely worth 2.99, but if the creator updates some things in it could easily be worth the 5 buck price point when not on sale. Start with suggestion critiques first and will move to what I like later in the review. Having a restart check point button on the controller if there is one I didn’t find it and having to click move mouse off screen while using controller hurts the flow of playing through the game. A score system would be nice since the apples don’t have a huge impact in the game as they are now unlocking the foxes almost gives you enough apples to unlock them. The slow down button is cool, but a speed up button would be really sick as well for maybe a higher score if you implemented a score system. Having the foxes you unlock have different attributes would be sick as well to give you a reason outside of cosmetics to unlock/play them i.e. faster movements higher jump maybe take a hit for free just some ideas. Achievements! Should really be part of the game to add replayability and give the player something to shoot for while playing through I’m not sure why that’s not a thing yet. Stage 20 check point does not work if you die after it you go back to stage 19 not a big deal just thought I would mention. There’s a ton of stages per world maybe making some of the stages longer and more difficult to remove the more mundane parts of the game it’s hard to focus during. Things I liked about the game the art style is super cute and the music is really good throughout super relaxing jams per world. The game plays well and I really like that the creator implemented a slow down mechanic to play through obstacles that doesn’t insta kill you to the hands. This game is definitely one of the better versions of the google chrome crash dino running game I’ve played, but could definitely be improved still. Overall I do recommend the game.

Mission in Snowdriftland - Snowlogue
These are the first 3 levels of the remake of the online advent calendar platformer game from 2006, when I was a kid! I feel beamed back to my childhood…
It plays fantastic and the controls are not slippery, but right on spot - since you are playing a snowman in a icy environment. It plays smooth and easy, but still it’s challenging and reminds a lot of classic games. Which is quite logic, since Mission in Snowdriftland was and is meant as a tribute to the classic Super Mario platformer games.

I remember when the Wii was released and dropped this online promotion. I was constantly playing it around November of 2006? It was so different from the flash games that I played at the time, the stages were short and sweet, hidden hearts, snow flake coins?, and was well polished. Playing this game again made me feel real nostalgic. The Dev team really knew how to make a platformer. I wish they would add secrets or something to collect for rewards, for example, the Star Coins in New Super Mario Bros series but all in all, it’s a good game, has it’s own identity but with a Mario like charm. Good game, would recommend.
