Kid Hallow

Kid Hallow

Like other Hamumu games, Kid Hallow takes a strong core idea (swapping costumes for different abilities) and provides a unique style and complexity that allows for endless variation. Kid Hallow has a simple premise, but it packs in a heap of twists and quirks that elevate it beyond a standard platformer. The levels range from quick and easy to insanely challenging, and the variety between each one keeps you on your toes. Highly recommended if you like arcade style, rapid-fire platforming filled with puzzles, action, bullet dodging, and bodzhas.

Even better than it was when it first came out in 2008 but this includes all the DLC packs for a LOT cheaper!

Lots of hours of game-play with more levels being created all the time!

Hamumu always puts out great games and I’m still playing them 20 years later!

Heads Run

Heads Run

fantastic and amazing little game, really love playing it, the visuals and layout of levels is so gorgeous, it’s really rewarding to speedrun, can’t reccommend this eonugh if you like platformers. The only downsides to the game are that the wall jump timing for inputs is a bit weird/clunky and takes some getting used to, and that I wish there was 50 more levels because I just want it to keep going

Heads run has both bad and good. If you are looking for a fun game to speed run or play for 2-5 hours depending on your skill. Heads run is only 4 dollars and a great option.

The Good -

The game for the most part does a great job setting a fast pace to making you want to rush and speed thru the level. The level has slight changes as you hit or interact with walls and floors and adds to the feel of the world. It also has an interesting artstyle that combines with the rest to create an enjoyable experience.

Typomancer in the Feather’s Way

Typomancer in the Feather’s Way

A very different proposal with a very frantic gameplay this is Typomancer. At first I thought that having to type in the middle of a game would make for a strange experience, but I was totally wrong. The fact of typing brought something quite innovative, where we can have frantic moments when it is necessary to type very fast or even moments when we can prepare for the worst by anticipating typing. I really liked the game’s proposal in combination with the effects. 10/10.

Crystal Caves HD

Crystal Caves HD

I first played Crystal Caves when it released back in 1991 and I loved it. In my youth, I spent many happy hours with this 2D platformer. I was so glad to see this (the original version is also available) here on Steam. One of the biggest drawbacks to older games, in my opinion, is when they just don’t work well on newer systems. While I contemplated whether to get the original or this HD remake that was the deciding factor for me in choosing this version over the other. In addition to better compatibility with newer systems this also includes a new additional level and an option to create your own levels.

“If it ain’t broke…”

Sometimes all that’s needed to remaster an old game is to port it to a new engine with a fresh coat of paint, and keep it more or less the same as the original game – And this rings true in the case of Crystal Caves HD.

In the age where retro-style indie games are rife, CC HD fits in well, even if it’s a recreation of a genuinely retro game which used to be a fully fledged title during the early days of PC gaming. However, the original game was fun, so that’s not a bad thing. It still holds up today as a decent 2D platformer: Each chapter has a level hub with 16-18 or so short levels. Collect all the crystals in each level to beat the chapter. Shoot monsters, or avoid them to conserve ammo. Collect bonus items and look for hidden crystals to increase your score.
