Solid jump mechanics. Solid combat. Solid art style, world design, sound design, “chill factor.” Nice and tight little metroidvania.

From what I can tell, you are a lone survivor of what appears to be a massacre of your people from another group of dark entities. Although I am only an hour into the game and cannot give you a great deal of information on the cast in its entirety, that I can say is there are plenty of interesting characters, both good and bad that you will come in counter with.

Levels/ Platforming

The platforming is unique for a couple of stand out reasons. The first is that what appears to be normal stairs to climb are actually just shadows or stairs in the background that you cannot climb. This makes the game interesting because if you make the wrong move you could jump or fall to your death and have to repeat that section of the game.

Did you ever hear of Skyhook before being on it’s store page for the first time?

Me neither.

It’s kinda one of those games you learn of by some obscure indie reviewer/blogger, or by chance. For me, it was the latter. I’d recently ordered a Steam Link so I could play games on the big TV in my living room. I figured I should try picking up some local-multiplayer games for when I have my friends over, so I did a Steam store search of games with both the “Full-Controller Support” and “Local Multiplayer” tags. I found Skyhook about half-way through the fourth set of results. After seeing both the neat gameplay and the 50% off discount, I thought to myself “ehh…why not?” and got it.

A Action Platforming Arena Game

  • The gameplay is fairly fun and fast paced. Similar to Smash Bros, although you die in one hit if anything hits you, and you are mainly shooting grappling hooks at each other and trying to dodge.

  • Quite a few “challenge stages” that are comprised of a bunch of little challenge minigames like break the targets, climb to the top before the lava rises, and kill X amount of enemies without dying.

  • A variety of game modes

  • Up to 4 player local multiplayer

### EDIT: Overall, Brawlhalla has changed drastically since the release of this review. A lot of the information here is no longer correct and there are new gameplay features, dash being the most important. I certainly still feel that it is far too easy to avoid and/or delay interaction between yourself and the opponent, but it would be disingenuous of me to pretend the specifics of this review are still accurate.

Although I am giving this game a positive review, I must say that it comes with a massive disclaimer. If you just play Brawlhalla with your friends and never take it seriously, you will likely enjoy yourself. However, if you ever get good at this game and play at a decently high level, Brawlhalla’s glaring failures as a fighting game will become so unignorable that your desire to play it will steadily decline till you’re on the subreddit crying about the passive float meta like everyone else. All of the reviews - including the negative ones - are ignoring the real problems with this game, and it’s something I have thought about for a long time. So, I’ll try to explain my reasoning as best as I can and briefly include the reasons why I still consider it worth downloading despite its enormous flaws.

Brawlhalla has taken my soul, and wallet. Im bad but will 3 stock you. ggswp BMG

–- At a glance —

Brawlhalla is a free to play, Super Smash Bros esque Game that is easy to pick up, even for the most novice of gamers. This cartoon stylized game is primarily Online based but can also be played single player(Training and Couch Party with friends)

The simple visuals and punchy sfx will entice (and infuriate) most people who choose to pick this game up.

Overall, I recommend this game for everyone to try out at least once.

Crystal Valley

Crystal Valley

In Crystal Valley they explore alien landscapes mine raw materials and build new tools and fight against a large number of enemies.

Experience an exciting adventure, fight evil monsters and build powerful weapons.

You have awakened without knowing and can remember nothing. Next to you is an AXT and a pickaxe. And a note. A note that says. Collect 50 crystals and a portal to open.

Mine raw materials and create new tools and weapons from them. Collect crystals to create portals to advance into other areas.

Fight with your weapons against different enemies. Be it ghosts or skeletons.

Remember, when you die it’s all over.

Crystal Vally relies on repetitive play fun. Every round is different and should give you replay value.

Dash Blitz

Dash Blitz

Dash Blitz is a fast game with a surprising amount of depth. Each character plays differently and I personally enjoy Manny with his ability to hang from cellings and throw explosives or Valerie who can fly around the stage. This is a game that keeps being refined with each update, and it is really enjoyable to watch the improvements over time. The music is also very catchy and it doesn’t become annoying over long play sessions. I have had a lot of fun playing this with friends, and I look forward to the completed version with more characters and stages.

It’s a good game. Fun to play. But the UI and AI are a major letdown. But, if you’ve got friends to play along with, this can turn out to be fun. Read the full review at indie game reporter.

First look….

Thank you CAE78SOFT for the invitation to review Battle Mine Sweeper!

After our first hour of play, we have to say that this spin on an old time favorite time killer game, has really been done well.

To play minesweeper, old time favorite and battle at the same time with weapons, traps, adds a whole new level of those who thing they have mastered basic minesweeper.

The leveling, replay ability, various game types, and overall variation are fantastic!

All in all we give this game an 8/10 for originality, implementation, coding, layout, design and creativity.
