Jelly in the sky

Jelly in the sky

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR AN OLDER VERSION. READ THE EDIT AT THE BOTTOM.

I saw a video from this on Reddit, and because I am a sucker for games with good physics, I wanted to try it.

All weapons need more “oomph”, the smallest gun is almost totally useless. Dirt should be flying much more. Kinetic weapons need a boost.

It is no fun chipping on an opponent’s health for five rounds because you don’t have any other weapon left. Tanks have way too much health even without upgrades.

This game has great potential. The whole idea is really simple and unique and the gameplay is fun. The overall difficulty is really engaging and getting to the end of each level feels really good. While I can see it is in developing stages, I have some points to make. The level design looks a bit lazy/unfinished, which would be standard for a sandbox game but this one is not the case. This game is composed of levels that are comprehensive but still rough on the edges. It’s hard to put in general words so I’ll try making examples of things that frustrated me to some extent instead. Spoilers ahead.

Laser Attraction

Laser Attraction

Fantastic physics-based puzzle game, looks nice good mental exercise :D

True to the nature of working with any actual optics, this game requires a bit of patience, planning and a steady hand to find the solutions, but feels so rewarding when you get it just right!

One addition that would really be awesome, would be a built in Level Designer with Steam Workshop integration for creating and playing community levels! This would be fantastic to see, and would give essentially infinite replayability.

I have played several laser based puzzle games over the years, and Laser Attraction definitely hits the mark better than any other game I’ve seen. Incredibly fluid interaction and challenging puzzles. For an early access game, it’s really remarkable the level of polish it has already. Looking forward to all future level and feature additions!

akda

akda

Akda is a strange game, and I really can’t understand the extremely negative reviews.

It’s now sold on sale at 0,30€ and I bought it in a 0,99$ bundle along with 20 other games.. so really it’s something that can’t even be judged. It’s a PAID game, but it’s a real game.

And it delivers exactly what its premises are - “a symple physical puzzle [game]”. So the developers said, and that’s what you get. I don’t know what to expect more for such a title with these premises.

I really liked the fact that the developer chose to employ a minimalistic approach in the whole game, starting from the gameplay itself and finishing in all the other aspects.

Real player with 28.6 hrs in game

akda is a daringly simplistic but very challenging puzzle game primarily putting absolute strategy as the forefront. Players are challenged to specifically complete thirty stages, without being timed, by leading colored balls into colored baskets. Initially, it appears easier than it sounds until players have begun actually progressively completing objectives and realizing the challenges aren’t friendly. Actually, they’re very unfriendly since the challenges intentionally frustrate the players with style whether they’re controlling where and how the balls lands, rolls, or falls.

CMYH is another Physics puzzle in the style of the ZUP series (just saying for reference, ok - I’m not about to get into which came first, the chicken or the egg on this matter LOL).

So anyway, CMYH is innovative and fun and different enough that I feel it deserves a place at the table, too. Most of the levels were on the easier end of the scale, but a few were devilishly difficult, and you WILL NOT find any Guides or Youtube playthroughs to help you, and for me, that made the challenges more rewarding when all 50 levels were completed. CMYH gets a thumbs up. I picked it up during the 2017 Steam Autumn Sale, and feel I got my money’s worth - Cheers

I just finished this game, and I’ve gotta say…

I’m glad I have all of them.

Because just like chocolate,

One just isn’t enough.

The game ran smoothly, the graphics and controls were simple and easy to understand, and the game overall was, dare I say, short and sweet.

I recommend this game to anyone that likes or is looking for simple and sometimes quite challenging puzzles, short games, inexpensive games, sweets in their games, physics games, or games that don’t hold your hand.

I disrecommend this game to anyone that dislikes or can’t stand puzzles, simple games, short games, sweets in their games, physics games, or games that don’t take you step by step through instructions on everything to do.

How about looking after plants in space by applying some basic quantum physics principles?

Time to apply your knowledge of light and advanced physics - split or teleport the Light Beam to make the Flowers in the level Bloom, saving the Space Station.

Play with different elements and adjust them in a way that the light beam from the source reaches the plant located in the room.

Notebook Artillery

Notebook Artillery

Artillery games were one of the first games I played on a computer back in those antediluvian days of yore. This is a very nice successor to those games. The drawing style reminds me of a friend of mine’s style from high school and the blue-lined notebook paper is a really nice touch. Altogether very much worth the price.

This game is chill and a lot of fun. Especially dig the CM sticker in the main menu.

SHIPS AT WAR

SHIPS AT WAR

I see great potential in this game, the development is very active and content and bug-fixes are added frequently.

I love the building system, you can build whatever ship you like, from small torpedo boats to battleships or even fictional monstrosities from your own imagination.

Achievement Machine

Achievement Machine

“Achievement Machine is a colorful clicker game for those who wants not only to get tons of achievements in no time, but also to enjoy real gameplay and various gamemodes!”

No.

Achievement Machine is a clicker game, which will grant you a single achievement per click. Stop.

The colorful menu offers only settings related to the (horrible and repetitive) music, and a play button that will throw you into the single level that this game is made of.

The game keeps on saving so you won’t even be able to reset the achievement counter.. but it’s not an issue.

Real player with 18.5 hrs in game

Estimated reading time: 1 minute, 21 seconds.

Good news: in comparison with many other “achievement spam” games, these achievements fully work; all of them unlock properly. Even better: your progress is saved when you quit the game, therefore you can do this is as many sessions as you want.

Bad news: you’ll need at least 5000 clicks in order to get all the achievements (most likely more). Despite being advertised as a “clicker” game, Achievement Machine does not belong to the clicker genre. There’s no idling involved or resetting the game for a quicker progression. It is a clicker game in the sense that you will need to click on specific tiles from the board and this will in turn grant you one achievement each. Clicking other tiles is useful only for making space for the special tiles to appear on the board.
