Luminous Plume
Story:
The plot is more about the main character’s personal growth than any grand adventure about saving the world. In fact, the protagonist already technically got involved in saving the country, but couldn’t handle the mistakes he made in the process and basically stagnated. The concept is nice, but I feel like there’s not enough closure for the main antagonist or late game interactions with the only village. Instead, the postgame is mainly closure for the secondary antagonist, who turns out to be similar to Raven in many ways.

Luminous Plume is quite possibly one of my favourite action games to date. Mixing the classic art based combat of Tales with something faster and more fluid in the vein of Ys, the game delivers fast, satisfying, responsive combat which makes it an absolute joy to hack and slash through. With challenging boss fights and a fairly brutal difficulty, which may start to relent near the end, the game offers players a chance to test their skills, especially on the nightmare mode. It also features beautiful art and environments that make the game just as good to watch as play, and an electrifying and unforgettable soundtrack by Aoki Katsumata, Luminous Plume delivers an outstanding experience, and is well worth it’s price.

Minable & Create / ミナクリ
Played this back in August for a few hours and here’s my take.
This is built in RPG Maker so the graphics are based on that, which is standard for the engine.
The developer went for a 16-bit feel and they accomplished that. At the time, there was little direction on what to do and how to do anything so I spent time just wandering around; this can frustrate some players. Eventually after accessing the monument a few times I figured it out. Still, the whole crafting probably needs an overhaul to make it more user-friendly.

Similar to those big-name games listed above, the game will have you explore the map, harvesting resources to turn into materials, and then into items that you can use. Crafting is pretty “open” here, meaning that you can immediately harvest and craft the highest-tier tool or item in-game right from the start - and you should, just to save time. There’s really no point in crafting an iron axe when you could easily have crafted a gold one to use.

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan
For lack of a better words to describe what this is, this is a JRPG. It also draws on Shonen genre of manga. It has a structure similar to many of the older japanese RPG games. This is a very vague term to use though, because there are a diverse set of games under that category. Regardless, if you have played that sort of game the gameplay outside combat will be immediately familiar. It even has overworld bits where you walk a tiny sprite between towns.
Finally, I say it is Shonen because it is reminiscent of a certain kind of manga and anime for young males. You pretty much play African Goku. You do not pilot increasingly larger robots but you do sorta gain Stands. Whether that appeals to you or not is a matter of personal preference. If you like badarsery, this game has you covered. Very powerful people perform superhuman feats and have very flashy duels after frankly talking about why they have to fight. A young man discovers himself and his place in the world. Lessons are learned. It is that kind of tale.

The story follows young prince Enzo Kori-Odan who is to become king of a peaceful little country Zama, although he is doubting his skills in the first place. On his coronation day he is also marrying his beloved Erine. Future looks bright and full of happiness, what could go wrong? Everything.
Zama finds itself under attack in an attempt of coup d’état and despite great effort from Enzo in defending his people he is defeated. Nama, teacher and master of Enzo, saves the newlywed young couple from the worst case scenario. The king and his queen, who stood by his side, are then exiled. Both of them are for the first time away from Zama and are confronted with harsh unforgiving reality. The difference between Zama and other countries surprised them. World and people around them are full of misery, cruelty, hate and so on. They have to become more powerful to be able to come back home victorious. Their travels across the land will test them, put them on the edge of their strength, to see if they can become the truthful King and Queen of Zama.

Hunt the Night
Hunt the Night is a retro-style action-adventure game that combines a fast, skilled gameplay with dark fantasy lore. Play as Vesper, a virtuous member of ‘The Stalkers,’ and explore the vast world of Medhram, a place filled with ruins and horrors. Go through dungeons full of gruesome enemies, fight challenging bosses, and use your arsenal of weapons and dark powers to take back the Night.
It is the 9th Age of humanity. The cycle of day is ruled by humans, the night one by horrid creatures. Despite its efforts, humanity is annihilated with every arrival of the Night.
A group of humans, calling themselves ‘The Stalkers,’ discovered how to use the power of darkness to their advantage and fought the Night. However, it was not enough, and with every new dawn humanity rose again knowing that, with darkness, comes extinction.
Humanity found the ‘Seal of Night,’ an artifact that allowed them to stop the cycle in an everlasting day. In exchange for a blood oath that The Stalkers were willing to pay, the sun ruled for hundreds of generations and, for the first time, hope was a beacon of light. Yet fate proved unstoppable, and they paid the ultimate price.
Now, as the Night starts devouring every single glint of light, Vesper, a Stalker by right and daughter of the traitor, will travel a dying land trying to save the last embers of humanity. She hunts in a race against destiny, as the shadows lengthen both in the world and in her mind.
Dash through enemies while you unleash your combos, use your weapons or destroy them with your dark powers. You can switch between melee and ranged attack in quick succession: slashing enemies with your sword and then dashing away to use your ranged weapons, avoiding enemy attacks.
Endure the ultimate challenge as you fight the ancient horrors of the Night that have been annihilating humanity over and over in intense boss battles. Learn their weak points, attack patterns and survive through the different combat phases as the battle gets more challenging and extreme.
Create your own build that will adapt not only to your prefered gameplay but also to particular bosses. Customize the upgrades of your arsenal and use the equipment that best suits your gameplay: Critical Damage, Life Steal, Poison, Close Combat, Firepower and more. Collect Sanguine vials, Crow Feathers, Moonstones and Noctilium to increase your stats and get ready to face the Night.
Explore Medhram in a combination of action-adventure and dark fantasy lore. Survive huge dungeons full of traps, enemies, puzzles and challenges. Discover all kinds of locations, from ancient cathedrals and libraries of knowledge to lost kingdoms and devastated floating cities.
Accept a hunt at ‘Crow’s Nest’ and track down the dark beast, find where it hides and hunt the most powerful creatures of the Night. After every completed hunt you will get rewards that will increase your health and dark energy bar.
Meet new characters and open full questlines that will vary depending on your actions: deciding to help them or not, finding them at their next location, failing to achieve the mission requirements in time… Everything counts!
Immersive and adapted music to every moment, boss and location, with the collaboration of Hiroki Kikuta, Secret of Mana composer.

LOST EPIC
Like Odinsphere in art style and difficulty, with a leveling system similar to dark souls. 10/10
You can only fight two bosses and five to ten minibosses depending on how you count them at the moment of writing this. However the combat is smooth and the story has some interesting hints from the bosses but is not very present right now. The combat can be difficult occasionally if you are not leveled up properly, otherwise it has a pretty decent difficulty on single player.
That being that at first you will have to fight strategically to not die, but as you level up you can go back to map areas where you had trouble and plow through them showing off your skill and level increase. There are special areas called mazes scattered throughout the map as you travel and quests that you can take on to extend game play.

I will give quick review on early access. I find most negative reviews are wrong and people only spend few hours on playing this great game while I’m really having fun to play this game, it’s really not difficult metroidvania and suitable even for casual & newbie players. That’s the reason the game made into cute anime to atract people that it’s fun to play.
These are the negative reviews I find are wrong:
❌ Mostly negative reviews saying it’s “repetitive gameplay”, while another metroidvanias games are basically the same. It’s wrong at all. This game is really fun which combines crafting, learning different skills, leveling your chars, building your skill tree.

Storms 2
Scratch the surface and you will find a pretty decent Action RPG.
Struggled at first, and the title looked fairly barebones but slowly found that this title has all the ARPG components. You have the normal merchant, potion seller, healer, stash etc. Upgrade paths are particularly impressive as is the variation in the enemies that you will find.
Graphics might be fairly basic, but the game-play is there.A good value for money title!

A work in progress at launch here, but a project of passion from this new indie developer on Steam. He’s already fixed several little bugs and taken a few of my suggestions to make this game better to heart and made the suggestions I advised in videos.

I like this, and I LOVE the value here at just $5 USD. The skill tree and inventory system are beyond impressive and well worth the price alone.
More to come to this review as I play this game more but great job to this admirable indie developer!

Towertale
GET THIS GAME NOW!!!!
–————————-
This is the first game on Steam I am writing a review for. The game is SOOO meta! I absolutely LOVED it, incredibly fun and challenging! The music is great, the art style is simple but awesome! I started with the demo before the release and played through as Lord Snicklefritz because obviously he’s got the best name in the game! I jumped straight into Nightmare Mode and struggled on the first boss a little until I got used to the controls (I used Xbox controller, but I did remap some of the buttons).

I highly recommend giving this game a try if you enjoy 2D games or boss fights. The devs have been a pleasure to work with and have promptly fixed any bugs that were found. Each boss fight features unique mechanics and patterns that you have to learn and each character has their own set of attacks and abilities making each playthrough a new experience. The soundtrack is very well done and compliments the game and characters without being overbearing. The writing can be a bit cringe, but often in a hilarious way as long as you don’t take it too seriously (and you shouldn’t, because it doesn’t take itself very seriously either) and the modern culture references are very amusing. All in all, a very entertaining and well done first game release by MiSou Games. I’ve had a blast playing and my viewers and I have had some great laughs with this game. It’s an amazing value at this price and I’ll be picking up a copy for my girlfriend as well.
