Memories of Fireflies

Memories of Fireflies

The game is genuinely creepy. It features a good balance between the run and hide, leaving you on your toes, not knowing what to expect next. The visuals are very pretty and the story interesting!

Jones On Fire

This is the prequel of Hot Tin Roof…is the game fun? No…i will explain why in a pro/ con style and end with my conlusion.

Pro:

N/A

Con:

The upgrades are extremely grindy. In order to have some fighting chance in later levels you need those upgrades. The upgrades cost an arm and a leg and a vital organ like the heart or brain.

The game has 2 currencies. One is regular cats and the other is golden cats. It is very dumb to do that because gold cats are slow to come across and building up to get a single upgrade is very time consuming and adds to the boredem of the game.

You know, I honestly don’t get what all the hate is about for this game. I think it’s a great time waster. For someone who has a lot of free time, and especially during this summer, boredom can hit pretty hard. And for the past few weeks, that’s what’s been happening. It’s games like this and another game I tend to play in short bursts, Pictopix, that really help get me out of those slumps.

And you may not think that boredom is that big of a deal, but for me it is. It leads me to almost what seems like pseudo-depression. A lot of free time and not knowing what to do with that time. It makes me lose motivation for most things, and just overall suckiness. Games like this, simple one off games that really have very little plot, or intense gameplay, just relaxation, which is rare for games these days, are great for fetting out of these moods. I don’t want to hear about story, or tutorials when I’m trying to be entertained, I just want to play, and this game lets me do that. Even the other game this company has made, Hot Tin Roof (which I also own), has a lot of plot and storytelling, which is fine when you’re in the mood for that. But when you’re looking for something to just pass time with, this game is perfect for that.

Selaco

Selaco

Selaco is a brand new original shooter running on GZDoom, featuring thrilling action set pieces, destructibility, smart AI and a fleshed out story taking place within an immersive game world. It draws inspiration heavily from F.E.A.R. in terms of action set pieces, while mixing traditional retro-FPS elements from QUAKE and DOOM, along with some more modern features. Together with professional artists who work in the industry, several having worked on successful throwback FPS games in the past, Selaco is a fully fleshed out world full of character, action, and mystery.

The story takes place during a violent invasion of Selaco, the underground facility that’s home to the surviving refugees after the fall of Earth. You play as Dawn, an ACE Security Captain who, with her recent promotion and high level security clearances, is digging deep into the truth behind Selaco’s murky history. Before she can finish her investigation, Selaco is rocked by explosions and armed invaders. While Selaco may take place in a large-scale conflict, much of it will be the personal story of Dawn, the center-piece of the game.

  • A lengthy story-driven campaign

Selaco is a story-driven experience, and we don’t say that lightly. A dedicated writer has been brought on board to assist with creating an engaging and believable sci-fi story and world.

  • Intense Action set pieces

Turn the entire world into confetti with the destructive power of your weapons. Every single bullet will react properly with any materials or objects you hit. Our artists have created many different variations for each (voxel)object to ensure that the aftermath of each encounter is palpable. That once lavish office space now nothing but a pile of rubble with broken paintings, smashed tables, screen, chairs, smoke, and chunks of debris.

  • Custom AI

With our FEAR influence, writing proper AI was a goal from the get go. The enemy is fully aware of each other’s presence and work together to take you down. They will keep their distance if you apply constant pressure on them, will rush you if you hide or run out of bullets, toss grenades if you use the same cover for too long, and much more. Hundreds of custom lines have been written and acted out, providing hints to the player about their current plans and tactics.

  • Full soundtrack

Selaco is accompanied by a full length original soundtrack composed by an experienced musician who has worked on many games in the past.

  • Professional voice-acting.

To help immerse players in the story and atmosphere of Selaco, professional voice actors have been brought on board. Dawn will be voiced by the incredibly talented Melissa Medina, with other casting choices revealed at a later date.

  • Extra Gamemodes

Completing levels allows you to replay that level in Incursion Mode, an expanded version of that map where your skills will be tested against a near endless onslaught of enemies. Win incursion maps to gain bonuses to aid you throughout the campaign. New exclusive Incursion Levels and new mutators will also be unlocked as the campaign progresses.

  • Full open-source modding support

Mod it till it breaks! Create new campaign experiences, modify or create your own content, port your favorite GZDoom mods. Anything goes!

Dungeon and Gravestone

Dungeon and Gravestone

“Dungeon & Gravestone” is a buggy console port intended for someone with a game controller. In fact, the only help available is for a controller that I do not own. There’s no way to move the map with the keyboard or mouse. You must have a game controller to do this. Which means, you will get killed by a rolling boulder unnecessarily. The keyboard layout is terrible. It’s only setup for the left hand, since you cannot use the arrow keys to move. And there’s no option to remap the keys. Most of the Magic commands won’t work, since you are not allowed enough time to input them. There are only three resolutions to choose from, and 1920 x 1080 is listed twice. ??? Very strange for a game designed with Unity. Many of the dungeons have more bugs than monsters. There are locked doors without walls attached, completely empty dungeons. Boulders that fail to roll and block the exit. Levers, potions and treasure chests that cannot be reached in corners. Having your character completely stuck after after opening a chest so you cannot continue. Some of the achievements are still broken. Unlike the few positive reviews, I’ve actually played the game for over a hundred hours. It’s unfortunate, the developer has never responded to any of the problems posted here in the Reviews or the Discussion forum.

Skellboy Refractured

Skellboy Refractured

Skellboy’s an adventure game that wears it’s nostalgia on its sleeve and it’s not afraid to show it, from some of its classic Zelda like mechanics to it’s Paper Mario visual style. All coming to make a super fun gaming experience. You play as a protagonist named Skippy, a skeleton brought back to life looking to dish out justice to the evils roaming the land and to stop the malevolent wizard from destroying the world.

Gameplay

Skellboy is a top down 2.5D game where you hack, slash and bash a variety of enemies and bosses utilizing a pretty hefty amount of weapons types and styles at your disposal. From weapons that can hex your enemies to weapons that slow down time or if you’re feeling like a true anime protagonist you can whip out the giant buster sword, cutting enemies into two with one swipe. Since you are a Skeleton you are able to swap your body parts out for different armor, shirts, helmets, heck you can use other enemy’s body parts if you like. A lot of the interchangeable parts can have unique abilities and set bonuses.

So i’m reviewing this game for two reasons. One cause I am fully loving it so far. Very fun game reminiscent of 3D dot Heroes. I’m 2 hours in and it doesn’t seem like i’m very far in it at all. Lots of body part swapping to be had here XD

Second reason i’m posting this is because one negative review here really annoyed me for someone who it lists barely touched the game at .3 hours and the fact you cannot compare a new indie game to old triple A games that are lower priced cause they are old. I played many of those games and this game is also well worth your time so far if you like old school Zelda games or games like 3D dot Heroes. The price definitely seems worth it.

Accel Magician Mimi

Accel Magician Mimi

If you look at the rest of the developer’s games, it appears they either used a kit and reskinned it, or made one game and reskinned it, multiple times. Keep this and the fact I’m basing my recommendation on the sale price I obtained it at (59 cents).

Game only consists of 3 stages and bosses, which can easily be completed in under an hour. However, there is 2 player battle mode and co-op, adding to the replayability. Controls are responsive. No optimization issues noted. Difficulty progression is smooth and different enemies have varied enough attack patterns to keep the game interesting.

Fun game, and the voiceover is funny, well acted, and enjoyable.

I like leave the game running while at work, come home, buy everything I can with the collected money, then blow up anything that has the audacity to come near the planet I’m protecting.

Fantastic blend of incremental, idle, and active mechanics - all are well done and blend nicely with each other. Not many games make we want to leave my computer on all day when I’m not in front of it, much less make it the first one to be maximized when I sit down.

Real player with 164.4 hrs in game

At the end of the day, I’ve gotten more out of a number of free games. I don’t mind paying for incrementals and idles and the game is cheap. However, the content is very shallow IMO. The upgrades are uninspiring, the overall prestige system is tedious and you’ll quickly find yourself without the desire to keep doing the same thing over and over. The grind I can handle… if the payoff is worth it. I do think the dev has promise though, and I hope they’ll learn valuable lessons for the future.

Dungeon Crusher Kiritan

Dungeon Crusher Kiritan

Cute little puzzle game with unique presentation.

Combat/movement is not exactly turn-based and more like tile-based - you move at the same time as your enemy 1 tile at a time and have to figure out when you will be in advantage to strike first.

Levels are handcrafted and not procedurally generated which is a big plus in my opinion.

There is also a level builder so looking forward to cool community-made maps.

Can recommend, especially with the launch discount.

Tohoku Kiritan is a VOICEROID character popular in Japan. VOICEROID is a type of text to speech software widely used in the Japanese Let’s Play scene. The Japanese way of doing things dictates that if you can substitute something with a cute anime girl you definitely should and it makes anything automatically better. Instead of using a webcam to record their faces most Japanese let’s players prefer to use anime characters as avatars and if they don’t possess cute girl voices, then the VOICEROID package provides an easy solution for both needs. The characters can serve as narrators or commentators to the provided gameplay thus putting more focus on the let’s player’s script writing ability rather than personal charisma, while also boosting creativity and providing greater freedom. As an added bonus most VOICEROID characters double as singing software on the VOCALOID or UTAU platform and therefore come with an already established fan base in the music scene. Of course this approach to let’s plays and streaming is largely unknown outside of Japan because of the language barrier. It’s also the reason why you may have stumbled on this game’s page without knowing what it’s about.
