How much of this game I’ve played: 12 Hours, 35 minutes

How I’ve played so much: I had a pre-ordered non-steam copy.

Completed Main story, not the super secret boss area.

Here’s why you’d be interested in this game: Good rhymes, good story, old school gameplay.

Good rhymes: If you haven’t heard of BeNeVoLeNcE, you might have heard of Mega Ran - he’s known for clean nerdcore rhymes over chiptune beats and melodies. Hip Hop by both is featured in the game, and it’s not an “afterthought” like it might be in some games - the music is interwoven in with the story - it’s actually rewarding to gain access to the rhymes that go along with the instrumentals in different parts of the game.

You just woke up after a midday nap in your country house surrounded by the swishing sound of turntable. You are 8 years old. It’s Summer is an indie video game which genres are “sandbox”, “babushka”, and “midday nap”. The game has neither goal nor sense. There are only you, cheap tea bags with russian tears and the endless yellow field.

The game itself is integral part of the Digital-opera “ШХД: ЛЕТО”. This project also contains a book, LP record, series of digital-art collaborations and something more. ШХД: ЛЕТО is the second and final part of the project ШХД: ЗИМА (It’s Winter).

Interstate Drifter 1999

Interstate Drifter 1999

A great upgrade to an already charming little game, and doesn’t cost a cent!

I still found a few glitches, but they’re easy to overlook thanks to the addition of medals and all the new content they unlock. This is a simple but addictive game that wonderfully captures the feeling of playing on an old school 8-bit computer. All accompanied by some 80s funk chiptunes.

But you may want to throw on some Initial D for the full experience.

Ultimo boiled this little chicken down to a fine broth. It’s challenging as hell with really unique gameplay. Lots of fun things to find and explore, hidden secrets and little jokes in the gameplay and artwork. It’s free, so stop reading the reviews and start playing the game!

VR Museum

VR Museum

A tremendous power lies in VR. Anything you imagine, anywhere you dream, any time you envision - it can get you there.

Have you ever wondered what the Handley-Page 42 looked like in real life? Or what size was a Messerschmitt Me-323 Gigant? Or Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria? All of them are long since gone, but with the incredible power of virtual reality they can be brought back to life. And this is what the VR Museum was created for.

There are many great inventions that are only known from drawings and blurry photos. And many of them are already 3D-modelled and scattered around the net. The idea behind the VR Museum is to locate them, refurb if necessery, and show here for everyone to see. Starting from airplanes, the Museum’s collection will grow to become more interdisciplinary in the future.

If you’re looking for a relaxing brick breaker this is a decent option.

That being said there are still some things that could be better. My biggest issue is how uninspired some of the stages are, with the priority being on making a cool or referential picture (like a floppy disk or face) instead of levels that are interesting to play. There are still some great levels here but fewer than you would expect from a game like this. Also, the settings are a bit sparse.

I did really enjoy that you bounce from screen to screen and you get a chance to save yourself, it was a fun take on the genre.

Great brick breaker game that has its own unique style and twists.

When you miss hitting a ball and one gets by you, a charged up red firey ball bounces around at what seems about double the speed. If it gets by you, you’ll lose progress each time it gets by you until you either lose a ball eventually or until you finally manage to hit it.

You cannot use the keyboard at all and it’s all controlled by moving your mouse up and down.

A few things missing from this game are the typical power ups I’m used to seeing in break breaker games like this. You know the power ups that make your paddle bigger for a short time, give you the ability to shoot the bricks for a short period of time, or offers you a shield behind your paddle in case you miss the ball..
