This game has a lot of potential with its charming 16-bit style and almost endless customization with ship type, weapons and much more that actually have impact on the gameplay and your success.

This is a Strategy Stealth world war 2 game.

There are no tutorials.

Able to toggle “ignore enemy soldier on halt”.

Multiplayer requires IP and Port Forwarding. THIS STILL WORKS!

About the game.

You play with a couple of commandos and each commando has their own equipment and skills. The game is very difficult by itself and their is even a difficulty level settings too. Just if it is too easy. There are 8 mission/Maps and You have to complete each mission by fulfilling the subjective. Destroying things, to freeing, capturing and so go on. Enemy soldiers/vehicles has an eye of sight which is marked with Dark green and light green. Dark green means you have to crouch or otherwise the enemy unit will see you. Light green he spotted you and could fire on you. Your commandos are able to take hostage by enemy Sergeants (usually patrolling with units). There is a chance that they will rise alarm if they see you, if that happends. You might load game. Because things will get 10x harder if they have raised their alarm. Whenever a mission starts you will be told what you have to do and you get some hints too.

Beyond the Call of Duty is like an expert mode for Behind Enemy Lines. There are only a handful missions, but they are all incredibly long and incredibly difficult. If you want a great and challenging game, look no further.

Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty is a stand-alone expansion pack for the critically acclaimed classic isometric strategy/stealth game, Behind Enemy Lines.

Like the base game, it features a group of commandos in eight scenarios, who must complete a set of objectives– mostly sabotage– deep inside enemy territory. Although all missions are loosely based on historical events, there is no actual plot, only short briefings.

Purchased as part of a bundle from Bundle Stars. I played the first two games in the series to death back when they came out.

Impressions:

Commandos stands tall among action strategy games. It was a simple formula: a set of men are dropped into a mission, each with a certain set of skills and using them in concert you dismantle the enemies defences and confound their long term goals.

While the games does lean heavily on the two most useful characters (Tiny and the Spy) the situations force you to think creatively and apart from a few small instances you are completely free to tackle the mission as you see fit.

Kells is a retro puzzle game similar to the original Lemmings except instead of issuing specific commands to your Kells, you manipulate their movement using special Gravity Tiles instead. These tiles change the direction of gravity as Kells walk or fall over them, allowing you to manipulate your Kells in crazy ways like making them “fall upwards” to clear obstacles, “fall forward” to avoid dangerous spike pits, and even walk up or down walls!

Objective

The objective seems deceptively simple! All you have to do in each level is figure out how to get your Kells from the entrance to the exit flag. The thing is, you can’t control them directly and unlike in Lemmings, you can’t issue them commands either. What you can do is place tiles around the level to change the flow of gravity! Can you figure out how to make use of careful Gravity Tile placement to guide your Kells on a journey through 100 levels and 8 themed islands to find the mysterious Last Level?

The Kellective

As you progress through the game, you’ll find many lost Kells on your journey to build up The Kellective and make it stronger and stronger. You will care for your Kells - you can rest them when they are injured, check in on them between levels to see how they are feeling and mourn them when they die.

Uncover many secrets and hidden treasures

Kells is full of secrets and unexpected twists and turns! There are secret coins that initially seem impossible to reach. There are secret passageways and areas to uncover. There are mysterious competitions and game modes to unlock. Rumour has it, apparently there is even an entire secret island hidden away somewhere on the world map!

  • There are various routes to the Last Level - will you opt for the easier, longer route or risk the difficult route in order to reach The Last Level quicker?

  • There are 100 Levels in total scattered across the World Map. Can you complete them all? Better still, can you PERFECT them all?

Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri was an immeasurably revolutionary computer game released in 1996.

Terra Nova established the outdoor first person shooter genre with extreme render distances and advanced physics modelling including gravity simulation, water reflections, player movement systems, and weather conditions. Terra Nova also pioneered and perfected squad commanding in an fps environment, with competent, realistic bots. The squad members performed the player’s exact commands, ranging from movement options, tactics, engagement techniques, and special abilities. Terra Nova even pioneered exosuit simulators, inspiring the Tribe series of fps’s. It is a very technical simulation, with the missions requiring strategic planning, in outfitting the squad with weapons, suits, pilots, and, “alternative suit functions.” Alternate Suit Functions, or A.S.F.’s, permitted an operator to perform an ability, including deploying sentry turrets, additional suit shields, demolition explosives, power plants, repair modules, cloaking, and other abilities. On most missions, the player had to rely on the bots to perform tasks for the player, either defending a structure, destroying enemy fortifications, and scouting. The player managed all of these tasks via three multi-function displays, similarly to an aerospace fighter jet. The player had access to a powerful and immersive mapping program, drones, damage outputs, and A.S.F. controls. The player also had access to jump jets. This review does not go into details of how the game works, nor does it mention everything. It only broadly explains what you can expect when playing it.

So, one would hear about this game, and would at first glance think: Well, this game looks interesting, let’s give it a try, right? It’s made by Looking Glass after all! (sounds a whole lot like me ;)

And then you play it. Holy crap, this game is amazing. Complexity unlike i’ve ever seen before, to the point that I have learned so much to fill a whole game at my second playthrough alone. one of the best soundtracks i’ve ever heard (albeit pretty biased), a story that starts very cheesy but then keeps punching you in the face with plot-twists and the gameplay is nothing short of excellent either.

As someone who played Myth 2 and Myth 3 years ago(But unfortunately missed playing the first game), I’m still waiting with great anticipation for those games to be either remastered or adapted for modern platforms in order to be able to play them once again. In all the years since Myth 3 came out, there has not been a release of any RTS game that comes close to replicating the unique style of that trilogy. Until Nordic Warriors, that is.

I came across this game completely by accident while routinely browsing on Humble Store, and as someone who very much loves everything with Scandinavian themes(Which the developers did a fantastic job of adapting and implementing in the game) I went and checked the game’s page on Steam. Upon seeing its striking resemblance to the Myth series from the screenshots, even before reading the game’s description which explicitly mentions it as inspiration, I instantly downloaded the demo, played it, and I was not disappointed. After playing the first three levels on the demo, instantly purchased the full game, went on to continue right from where I left off and finished it all two days later.

Nordic Warriors draws heavily on Myth games developed by Bungie back in the mid- to late-90s. The developer (a 2-person team!) of Nordic Warriors even stated that they were tired of waiting for more games like Myth to be released, so they set out to build their own. If you loved Myth, I feel you’ll also love Nordic Warriors, but this is no Myth clone. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of similarities to Bungie’s series, but enough unique ideas that Nordic Warriors can stand alone.

The gameplay is real time tactical (RTT). If you’ve never played a game like this, it boils down to starting with a limited number of units per level. Positioning your units, timing attacks, choosing stylistic matchups, and finding unit synergies are all factors that determine success of failure. Your units gain experience which makes them tougher, more accurate, and generally “better” in different ways depending on type of unit. This adds a fun facet that makes the loss of even one unit really impactful. Not only do you have to wait until the next level starts to get a fresh unit, but that new unit is now the weak link in your crack team of warriors.

I figured this would like a cool little X-com: UFO Defense type of game, but I was mistaken. The UI is somehow even less user friendly and the entire objective of the game seems to be in finding ways to piss me off.

Warning: Based on single player content only.

Game runs fine under Windows 10, not a single bug apart from texture layer issue on one level (very minor thing).

Enjoyed the campaign (around 12 to 17 hours), the few problems inherent to isometric view and line of sight/visibility in this type of games are pretty well delt with here:

Wall transparency/visible line of sight/visible covers are all one icon away during battles.

The AP system, a few attack options and consumables are what you get to work with, clear and enough options for a few different layouts.

BBM is an interesting take on turn-based combat with a small squad of warriors. I like the graphics style and the customization options. The game is not too deep or complicated, and is good fom some relaxed tactics for a couple of hours.

You team members can die in a fight, and reviving costs quite some resources, so it pays off to play carefully and avoid getting hit or charged, since most enemies are tough melee fighters

Good thing is you can replay missions to collect some more loot for the next upgrade.

Thunder Tier One offers real-time tactical action in which you directly control the team leader of a four person squad. You can customize many of the details of the squad before you enter the mission, by spending your budget on silencers, grenades, flash-bangs, breaching charges, etc.

There is an element of stealth that you can take advantage of but don’t expect a very nuanced AI - on either side. The AI does a decent job of responding to sound and sight but its shortcomings become apparent in the little details: taking cover on the wrong side of an object, jiggling around when they get stuck on a piece of the terrain. Usually your AI teammates do what you tell them - just not in the way you want. A good example of this is movement; I cannot find a way to get your squad to move slower than full speed which makes it hard to do sneaky things when you are close enough to the enemy.

Feels like a fantastic blend of SOCOM, Doorkickers, and Insurgency. A few things need ironing out, but the core gameplay is great fun and (on realism mode) very punishing. Once mod support is opened up, it will get even better. A few things I noticed during my few hours so far:

  • Camera controls are not as bad as others make them sound, they just take a bit of getting used to. The camera itself could use a little fine-tuning though. Multiple times I had my camera blocked by something (like a crane), or I was getting shot from a spot that was very hard to see. I’m sure it will get better with patches.
