Survival RPG: The Lost Treasure

This is a nice simplistic adventure and survival game. I enjoyed it very much. It is rough or simple, but I like it very much. Actually I have played the two sequels, too. I hope for more in the future!

Quite good crafting adventure. Lots of crafting materials to gather and plenty of secrets to find. The game doesn’t look like much from the screenshots but it’s pretty good. Fighting mechanics could have been a bit better but it’s not bad. It is not a farming sim like stardew valley. It’s a crafting RPG. You pretty much get all the crafting materials instantly .. just lying around and respawning quickly. You kill enemies by swinging your sword. You can craft better weapons and armor as you get deeper into the game. Does not have hunger or similar mechanics for survival so the game allows you to take your time exploring. Looks like a mobile game ported to PC but keyboard or even controller should work ok with something like Joy2Key. Not bad for it’s price. I’m looking forward to the other games in this series that the developers have lined up for 2021.

Voxel Farm Island

Voxel Farm Island

Just another crappy mobile port. With diamonds and time to wait and stuff like that. Game is ugly and very child oriented. Characters are totally shallow AND THEY ALL SPEAK LIKE THIS IN FULL CAPSLOCK.

Never asked for a refund so fast.

Infinitode 2 - Infinite Tower Defense

Infinitode 2 - Infinite Tower Defense

My first TD was Vector Tower Defense, my second was Vector TD 2…and my third was Vector TDX. I hated all three, but I sucked at them. I liked the gameplay, I liked the idea…but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the strategy and wondered how one ever got to the higher levels– or even completed some of the maps. I loved hating those games, played the crap out of them on Candystand (RiP).

From there, I played every TD I found, even the crappy ones, just to see if they got any better. Over time, I didn’t have to play crappy ones, as good ones were being created all over…but nothing quite like Vector TD. :/

This was a close call if I push the yes or no button with the recommendation button.

This game has a plus side, which is the gameplay itself. It’s classic tower defense, no bells and whistles.

No unnecessary graphic 1upmanship, but instead back to the basics, i.e. simple outline shapes that make the towers you placed instantly recognizable.

You’ve got 16 different towers that do different things in various degrees of effectiveness, so quite the variability in terms of towers.

And that’s the positives. So now for the negatives, namely progression and R&D.

Terrene - An Evidence Of Life Game

Terrene - An Evidence Of Life Game

Welcome

I am someone who grew up with a lot of (actual) floppy disk games and stuff like that. Back then there was no such thing as DLC or updates to keep someone coming back. A game had to be hard but fair and stand on its own merits in order to make it worth a purchase. Think about any time you have been playing a roguelike, RPG, JRPG, ARPG, or Action game and have received a big upgrade, character gets stronger, you feel stronger. This is what I am trying to convey here. In order for a game to feel worth it to me I need to feel like that game respects my time as a gamer, this is even more important the older you get.

This game was unexpectedly immersive. It also weaves together a few different genre styles in a very cohesive way.

You play as an astronaut tasked with collecting resources from a procedurally generated planet. Your main hub is a static station in space; where you park your spacecraft, store resources, and upgrade things.

From there, you use your spacecraft to travel back and forth between your hub and the planet. Your ship is equipped with weaponry, and that’s where the shmup aspect comes in. You’ll be tackling asteroids, and a good variety of enemies ranging from small to boss-level.

A surprising little game that delivers exactly what it promises. This is a roguelite (metaprogression) in the vein of Rogue Legacy, with a pleasant game loop that should last you around 4-5 hours until completion, and then offer an extra hour or two of grind. The game’s systems are self-contained and cleverly designed, with a lot of quality of life baked into the experience. Its greatest strength is not attempting to extend playtime with meaningless padding, but rather acknowledging the game’s shorter nature and trying to deliver the best experience possible in that time. Recommended. Looking forward to the developer’s next game!

Old School Maze

Old School Maze

Old School Maze - a series of mazes, made in the spirit of the old school. There is no map, the rooms kill you, and the atmosphere draws you nostalgia deep into the maze. Go through the walls, destroy them, find caches and try not to die from traps. You do not have and will not plan the way, as you need to think very quickly!

#### Features:

  • 13 unique levels;

  • Atmosphere of old school;

  • Mouse not works, only keyboard!

  • Wonderful music!

VirtuaCreature

VirtuaCreature

This game is a huge improvement over the legacy version; with online play, revamped simple battle arenas, interchangable moves, being able to raise more than one virtuacreature, and the various QoL changes made, there’s so much more replay value to the point that I made my own builds.

As a game in itself, I really enjoyed the tamagotchi + pokemon aspect where it was easy to digest yet complex enough for me to be invested in. There’s so much freedom to raising your virtuacreature to the point that most of my gameplay time was just me borderline experimenting… not to mention, the simple battle arenas, coupled with the designs of each virtuacreature (Bearcub’s s-tier btw) made it easy to learn the mechanics of affinities, while being subtle so that it isn’t too hand-holding.

It’s like a mix of first gen Pokemon and Digimon. Taking care of the little monsters is like taking care of a Digimon keychain pet, and the battle system is a turn based system very similar to the first generation of Pokemon games. The creatures evolve into different things based on how you take care of them and feed them. You can even battle them online. It’s very nostalgic. I like it. Give it a try, you might like it too.
