Stargunner
EDIT: On a widescreen monitor, you may need to change DOSbox settings (edit STARGUN.CONF in Notepad to change “aspect=false” to “aspect=true” if it isn’t already) to fix the aspect ratio. You may also need to disable Steam Overlay then, since the pop-up will get stuck in the margin.
This is a pretty solid side-scrolling shooter from the nineties. Sound and graphics are similar to what you’d expect from a classic Amiga action game, with bouncy MOD format music, pre-rendered 3d art and animation, and parallax scrolling.

I first played Stargunner in 1998 when a free copy of the game was bundled with my PC. I didn’t expect much from it but I was pleasantly surprised and it soon became my favourite way to kill time during my lunch breaks for a couple of years.
With Stargunner being a mid-1990s game you should expect a level of difficulty that is uncommon in modern games. With that being said I don’t think it’s all that much more difficult than other titles in the bullet-hell genre. The game demands that you have more than just good reflexes as the upgrades you buy and when you choose to use nukes makes a big difference (for example: having a credit drone in the second level during the asteroid field will earn you a lot of credits).

A very deep and meaningful story, some people are too quick on judging others for being different or what they wish to be. This is a one of a kind story I haven’t found any other visual novel as powerful as this one and I wished it got more recognition.
Great = Soundtrack, take My heart

Commie Killer 2069
I started playing this game, and I couldn’t stop. I killed commie after commie. Each kill brought a sense of peaceful serenity I have never known before. Once I started killing, there was nothing else I wanted to do with my life. I am afraid to open the game up again. The first time I ran it, I killed thousands of commies over a two day bloodbath. I know that I will though. There is truly nothing in this life but blood, death, and the murder of pixelated communist soldiers.
I am afraid I am losing myself, and will never exist as anything but a murderous desire for blood.

Greatest game I have ever played, this is the Cyberpunk we were promised.
The FOV is amazing, as well as the graphics, they really give me insight on living with without lenses in my eyes.
and the combat is the real champion for the handicapped, giving intense representations of having to do without any form of fine motor functions.

Malzbie’s Pinball Collection
As i made a fair but rather critical review of Malzbie’s Pinball Collection on day one of the release and as i promised in the following review thread that i would take my review up to consideration if some of the games problems was sorted out i thought it was about time to give it another go.
Previously i had issues with slowly reacting flippers, controller not working very well with the game and the pricing of the table dlcs among my main issues with the game.
Formerly posted comments in the reviews thread has been deleted as i believe they would cause more confusion keeping them up than doing any good in this new review of mine.

This free to play pinball game is an unexpected gem as far as I’m concerned. I was a little dubious at first. The images of the paid for DLC looked a little simple; however, after playing the free table for a while, I decided to buy the DLC that was available. All six tables at £0.79 seemed pretty cheap, compared to tables for other pinball collections. The ball physics is spot on, the flippers are reponsive and you are able with a little practice to direct your shots in the direction you wish. The ball speed is pretty fast, but I like that. The only real negative I have is the inability to adjust the plunger shots. To activate the plunger you just press the down arrow key. The ball is then shot off to the top of the table with no finesse. Apart from that I have no complaints with this collection. It’s not Zaccarina, Pinball FX or the Stern pinball tables. All those mentioned have, like Malzzbie’s, a free table to play, so technically they are all free to play. Of the four collections I think this one is the weakest, but still very enjoyable to play. In fact I’d go as far as to say, this would be a perfect game for those new to computer pinball games.

Capcom Arcade Stadium
This collection makes me wish Steam had a “Mixed” option.
Capcom Arcade Stadium is ALMOST a viable alternative to playing these games in MAME / ShmupMAME, but a baffling design oversight compromises one of the biggest reasons to play this over unofficial emulators.
The games play well compared to the Nintendo Switch version. Lost Worlds' analog controls are simulated seamlessly. Built in autofire and button macros make doing special moves in games like Final Fight easier than ever! MOST IMPORTANTLY, there’s barely any input lag at all, COMBINE THAT with one of the nicest frontends I’ve seen in a good long while with LOTS of well-researched throwbacks to Capcom’s history, and you SHOULD have a slam dunk..

i can’t recommend this because capcom is forcing everyone to use censored street fighter 2 roms, a mediocre virtual arcade and no online multiplayer.
the experience this product offers is mediocre compared to other products on steam and created by the community, the other products require some effort to setup but you can achieve a superior experience to arcade stadium. capcom arcade stadium is also mediocre compared to other capcom products on steam.
new retro arcade neon offers better virtual arcade experience, you can get original arcade cabinet artwork, model and vr support. this is what the virtual arcade in capcom arcade stadium should have been.

Shadow Warrior Classic is the original game which drew people into the crazy world of Lo Wang, the protaganist and comedic mass-murdering machine of this series.
Pros:
-Gameplay is fun and exciting. Plays a lot like Duke Nukem 3D, which is not a bad thing. You have access to a reasonable variety of weapons to slice and murder your way through the game.
-Graphics is exactly what you’d expect from a 1997 game, but is great to experience if you enjoy retrogaming.
-It’s hard, like really hard. And will definitely keep you on your toes throughout your play of it.

Kitrinos: Inside the Cube
Kitrinos: Inside the Cube is a mouse only puzzle game that radiates science fiction retrofuturism with a clear influence of Kubricks 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s predominantly an artistic game with a handful of well thought out puzzles and a story told in short cutscenes and text.
This game piles up retrofuturistic art design with 3D models reminiscent of early 2000’s adventure games and surreal, alien environments. Aside from this conglomeration of distinguished visuals, the music is as if tailor-made. It’s strikingly well composed and adds in equal measure to the strange and captivating atmosphere.

I tend to avoid puzzle games like it’s the meaning of my life but I had to stray off that path, simply for the artwork.
It was worth it even though I didn’t manage to solve the final puzzle. The art direction fits in perfectly with the soundtrack and the ideology of the game, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
Tip: The developer has left hints and solutions to the puzzles in the community hub disscusions.

The Benza RPG
For fans of the television show, The Benza RPG is a dream come true. Literally every character in The Benza and Benza English can be found in the game.
The battle system reminds me of Final Fantasy 10 as you can switch characters in and out of combat if you have more than four. Each weapon has different skills attached to it which allows you to customize your team a bit. Party members each have their own set role in combat. Each character is really useful, and there is no character that I just left on the bench. My favorite part about this is that even characters not in combat gain experience. It was really fun that the main cast of the television show voiced their characters, but I wished they had subtitles. Maybe a future update?

A bit of backstory. The Benza is a Japanese web tv show about a couple guys wanting to replace their broken toilet seat and end up getting dragged into a crazy supernatural quest to save the world. The Benza RPG is a nice companion to the show, trapping the whole cast of characters in a video game universe. If you’re familiar with the show, the humor sticks, so I recommend watching a few episodes first. Otherwise, I don’t know if anything would make sense.
Pros
-surprisingly deep story
-witty dialogue
