FORTRESS DEFENDER
Well this came out of nowhere. Paying homage to the shmups of ancient times Fortress Defender will completely chew you up and spit you out..and that’s on Easy.
Not for the faint of heart nor the easily frustrated you will find absolutely no modern day hand holding here so be forewarned! With that said I enjoy a good challenge. Daunting at first glance with broken english for ship descriptions and some not so clear game mechanics one may feel slightly overwhelmed with FD. It took a bit of time but once familiarized with the controls and the game systems things quickly started to click. This shmup feels like a bit of a mash up between Gradius and possibly Gates of Thunder but with it’s own unique subsystems and powerup/shield system. Enemy design and attack patterns are well suited, bosses are challenging to take down, and the action is constant never letting up.

Badland Envoys

If you’re get stopped out there, you’ll die. Think fast, drive faster, react instantly. Remember, it’s not always about the speed of your car – sometimes it’s about the speed of your trigger.
Spending some of that hard-earned buck on your rides is always a good idea. Installing new armor plating, homing missiles launcher or a high tech nitro system can make a difference between life and death out there on the road. Be good to your chariots and they’ll repay you with the same. Trust me.
So you’ve got a few extra wheels and hired some new crew members? Good. You can trust them to have your back, but when things get really tough, don’t hesitate to give them commands from a more tactical point of view. It can save your life, and more importantly – your cargo.
If it wasn’t about the job, we’ll be no different than the bandits. The orders placed through the Guild give us goals, meaning and hope for a better feature. Remember that all orders have different sets of requirements. Delivering medicine through hills requires more vehicles, different gear and more specialized crew than a recon mission deep into marshlands. Plan ahead and you’ll be fine.

Blood Metal
I wanna love this game, because the potential is limitless.
But unfortunately it’s just not there yet. It hasn’t even slightly reached that point and I am 100% confident that they know this. Drakeling Labs is truly testing the patience of all of those who wish so desperately to hang onto hope.
The acquisition of this game is not only questionable at best, but damn near a hostile takeover. Yes, you were within your legal rights, yes, the developer did some things wrong as well, but this isn’t how you treat a fucking passion project. This just ain’t it chief.

This game had a ton of potential. Its in a pretty rough stage at this point, there isnt even control settings. After bodies pile up a little bit it seems to drag, but other then that the gore models are awesome. Would like to see some improved blood textures as the 2D puddles often render above the ground and looks bad. I would recommend this game if you are a gore hound and want to support a small team.
EDIT 1 The new update solves the 2D blood puddle problem and looks much better, however there is no blood splatter textures that show up on walls. Also, bodies disappear quickly before they can be mulched up. Enjoying the progress so far!

Giant Blobs From Mars
Blob invasion imminent! A chess?-like invasion-blob game! I don’t think I’ve played anything like this before. Worth a try if you like puzzle games with a twist.
